Does anyone have any idea how I could reach him?
I recently (finally!) got my hands on "Blankets" and I'd really like to personally thank him for that amazing book.
It paralleled my own life so closely and really touched me. What an amazing storyteller...

He does have a webiste http://www.dootdootgarden.com/
But the only contact link it provides is a way to contact Craig through his agent. It is on the bio page.
They do provide a mailing address.

I'm not sure how I got it... but I emailed him after I read Blankets. He even responded a few days later.
He must have an email posted somewhere.

Craig Thompson used to have his email address right on his website before SDCC 2004 which was about when his popularity went nuclear. Soon after that his address was replaced with his agent's contact info. I think he was buried under an avalanche of fan feedback. I don't know that he's made any public appearances since then either. At least, he wasn't at SDCC '05 and he declined attending the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. I think he's cloistered away working madly on his next book, a 1001 Arabian Nights sort of thing (which was why he went sketching in Morocco).
He gives so much of himself in fan encounters (eg. drawing beautiful, large sketches on the inside front page of Blankets at SDCC) to the point that he makes his wrist hurt so he can't draw. I suspect he would feel obliged to reply sincerely to every email and so he had to shut that off. I'm glad I got to meet him at SDCC '04 and got the sketches in Blankets and Carnet de Voyage (both unasked for) because I'll be surprised if he ever does that again, given the damage it does to his wrist, which his career depends upon. He really is a wonderful individual and I hope he has continued success while avoiding burnout.

I know another artist who saw Craig at a con and went to tell him how much she loved Blankets and ended up crying at how meaningful his work was to her. He was very sweet and gave her a hug (perhaps even a tissue or some-such)
I wish I had the oppertunity to have him even sign my copy of Blankets before he had to hermitize himself (something I don't begrudge him at all)

Yeah, when I met Craig not only did I want to meet him as a fan, but I was trying to get a copy of my friend's magazine to him so he could see it and be familiar with it when she might contact him for a profile or excerpt of his work. But whenever I ran into him, I didn't have the magazine with me-- it was back in my room. So I actually spoke to him on three occasions, each time getting more flustered and feeling more idiotic. When I finally got the magazine to him and apologised for the bumbling and taking up his time he gave me a hug right there at the booth even in spite of the big stacks of books on the table between us. He's a lovely soul.
