Darn! Marvel was robbed again! Congrats, DC fans! :)

Glad to see such strong support for Runaways and Young Avengers, not to mention BKV and Dan Slott.

As per usual, a real head-scratching combination of good stuff and dopey stuff.

YAAAY!

3. Favorite Story:
The Young Avengers #1-6 "Sidekicks" (Marvel) (47 votes)

It was good, and I like that they introduced Cassie Lang with superpowers.

4. Favorite Continuing Series:
Runaways (Marvel) (49 votes)

Surprising to me because I've thought this second series was a bit down from the first series.

5. Favorite Miniseries:
Lions, Tigers and Bears (Image) (22 votes)

This should've won!
7. Comic Most Deserving of More Attention:
Runaways (Marvel) (59 votes)

Birds of Prey (DC) (36 votes)

The series is deserving of more attention even if I think it's lesser to the first series. And Birds of Prey definitely deserves more attention.

13. Favorite Newspaper Comic Strip:
Boondocks (33 votes)

Great to see this one win, though my favorite is For Better Or For Worse.

14. Favorite Comics Periodical and/or Book:

Where's the Love for Comics Buyer's Guide?

17. Favorite Writer/Artist:

Stan Sakai (17 votes)

The man who brought me back to "funny animals."

22. Favorite Talent Deserving Wider Attention:

Mike Bullock (20 votes)

No offense to anyone else, but I really loved Lions, Tigers & Bears so I was hoping to see him pull off the win.

Joe Rice sees dichotomy:

As per usual, a real head-scratching combination of good stuff and dopey stuff.

Doesn't sound so head-scratching to me. A lot of our pull lists are the same kinda combo.

Fortunately, it looks like most of the dopey stuff ended up at the bottom, which is a good thing. Though Kenzer and Company is still the best comic book company around.

Wow, a new series, with new characters, that us net geeks embraced!
*waves little Homer-style Young Avengers flag*
Kinda sad that Invincible wasn't even shortlisted, but most of the winners that I recognise deserve it, and the more contested ones, like writer and series deserving of more attention were the ones which were toss-ups for me.

I can't seem to figure out where the "dopey stuff" is on this list....can you enlighten us, Comic Book Guy?

It's maybe not so much "dopey" as in previous years when really terrible stuff won, but it's a case of "good" winning out over "great." I mean, almost everything nominated was good. But some "greats" didn't win.

Oh I don't know.

7 Soldiers isn't done yet, or isn't one series, or I don't know. So that makes sense.

And Gail's got skin in the game round here, so that makes sense.

It's how Brian K. Vaughn beat both Gail and Grant that beats me.

Split vote, that's my guess.

(No dis to Vaughn: but that's a good not great if you ask me.)

The fact that Brian, Grant and Gail are all represented here is fantastic. All three are top-notch writers, and each have a unique style. It's heartening to see results like these.

START?!!! Why aren't you reading it NOW?! As in RIGHT NOW, as long as you're not reading She-Hulk, Invincible, or Spider-Girl instead!

Well, RIGHT now I'm reading and replying to your post. See, you're preventing me from enjoying Runaways.

Which cover won - the Perez one or the Lee one?

Which cover won - the Perez one or the Lee one?

When nominating, most people did not specify which cover so we left it that way.

I can't speak for others, but for me, the overall quality of what I read from Vaughan was even higher than that from Grant. It's that simple. Much as I love Grant Morrison's writing, I consider Vaughan to have been a more solid writer this year. Especially in terms of dialogue.

Now, next year, if ALL-STAR SUPERMAN continues like the first issue, may well be a whole 'nother story.

I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure We3 was from the end of 2004, not 2005.

The last issue came out after the last Corries last October-November, so it's eligible. There are a number of things that can seemingly span that last year-this year eligibility every year.

Runaways fanboys and fangirls.

I'm just glad there were 9 people who possessed the good taste to vote for Grimjack Vol 1.

Thanks to everyone who voted for Lions, Tigers and Bears for mini series and me for deserving wider attention. Maybe if it was "Talent Deserving Wider Psychiatric Attention" I might have won. ;)

I voted Vaughan because I'm reading everything he writes, which he does at a consistently high level of quality.

You've got two teen superhero books that are distinct from one another, an excellent speculative fiction book that's probably the most original take on the "last man on Earth" book and the superb political/superhero comic that shocks and enthralls in Ex Machina. Not to mention the stupidest story of all time, "What if the Black Panther was white?" in What Huh? :)

I'm just surprised Bendis and Johns got left off the runners-up list. Much as I like Morrison and Simone, it seems wrong to keep Bendis, especially, off this list when he's been having one of the more spectacular years in history for any comic writer.

Lions, tigers and Bears did pretty well in runner up positions. Pretty good for mini seriesa. I was also happy to see Mike Bullock get some votes for new writer.
