I'm really excited with this mini. I'm glad he's trying to put every important member of the team in it.

If he kills Beast, I'll beat him over the head with Bucky. :)

If he kills Beast, I'll beat him over the head with Bucky. :) Replace "Beast" with "Havok", and "Bucky" with "my Sleeper trades" for me.

Well considering that Beast is on Whedon's team on Astonishing, I think he's pretty much safe.

I'm sure he wont kill Beast. Whedon is using him, afterall.
My money is on Banshee.

You know what is nice?
I never have to worry about who is going to die, because Jean is already dead.
I'm stress free.

True. :D
And if she does die, you just know she will return. ;)

I really like Banshee.
So he's so doomed.

Hey everyone; new to the boards but I figure this is as good a thread as any to start in.
Anyway, is there any evidence to suggest Banshee will die in Deadly Genesis that I have missed or is that just a guess? The only reason I am curious is because we don't even know if he still has his powers at this point, right?

Yea I agree with jeangreydp. Jen won't bite it and neither will Cyclops so I'm safe.

The thinking is that because Deadly Genesis deals with the "all new, all different" team, and all of those characters are currently being used EXCEPT for Banshee, and at this point, Banshee is pretty much useless anyway, he'd be the easy choice for the X-Man that dies.

Well, supposedly, an X-Man is going to die. And he's not on any of the regular teams. It's like when Northstar, who hadn't been around for months, was suddenly front-and-center at the climax of Wolverine: Enemy of the State, and Marvel had been saying an X-Man would be bumped off.
Kinda stinks. Who doesn't love it when Banshee pops up?

Hey, Arkady! Welcome to CBR!
It's just speculation. Brubaker said that a major character will die, and since it's pretty sure that he wont kill any of the characters of Antonishing, Uncanny and X-Men, i guess Banshee is the one left. Brubaker said that Sean will appear in the mini,so... :(

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, all evidence does seem to point to Banshee. Shame, too: he's a good character when written well.
Oh well, I'm still excited about this mini--Brubaker is a talented writer from what I've seen and I figure you can't go wrong with a good writer introducing a new big-time villain. Add in some of the supposed "psycho-thriller" aspects and I'm onboard.
Btw, is it just me, or is UXM.net stretching it when they say Trevor Hairsine is a "great" artist? No offense to any of his fans but his stuff doesn't really do it for me.

I hope it's a high profile death! Banshee dying would be cool if Marvel stick with it!

It entirely depends on how much time he has and who is inking him.
The Ultimate Nightmare mini is a good example of this. His first couple issues looked kinda shabby, he then had a fill in from Steve Epting, and came back for the last issue with Nelson inking him and his stuff looked great.

Yeah, he hasn't blown me away either, but who knows? Maybe his best stuff is yet to come.

His depiction of Nightcrawler on those preview pages looks better than most, IMO.

Oh man, I just remembered Rachel is at risk here...
If she dies, I'll go on a killing spree myself.

looks good. we got the first look of the mystery character in that 3rd preview image. i can't make out the text fully, but he says something like "no, it can't just be me, it can't". interesting.

Well what makes him great to me is his name. Isn't that the best name you've ever heard?

In the words of The Bride,
"I'm the deadliest woman in the world, but right now I'm just scared shitless for my baby"It won't be Rachel. She will play a major role in Uncanny for at least the next 12 issues, according to Mike Marts. :)

It`s interesting that he said:
Issues 1 - 5 all have 8 page back-ups, and I can't really say much about them, other than that they're all character pieces about people you've never seen or heard of before. Issue 1 has 28 pages for the main story, and an 8 page back-up, even, so it's quite the packed X-book.
The back-ups are about people WE`VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE, so it adds to the theory that it was about a first wave of mutants that Prof. X recruited to save the original ones, befofe the Wolverine squad.

I've been totally excited about this book since it was announced, and the backup story sounds awesome. I haven't seen Pete Woods drawing comics since...yeah, Deadpool. What's he been up to?
Anyway, Brubaker is the coolest. Can't wait for both this book AND Books of Doom #1 tomorrow. YEAH!
