Official Press Release:

STARWARP CONCEPTS TO ATTEND "NATIONAL" NEW YORK CONVENTION

LEGENDARY PAINTER BOB LARKIN MAKES FIRST CONVENTION APPEARANCE IN TEN YEARS TO HELP PROMOTE "LORELEI"

It’s almost Thanksgiving when Big Apple Convention’s "The National" show rolls into New York’s Penn Plaza Pavilion every year, and the Starwarp Concepts crew will be on hand November 18-20, 2005 to give thanks for all the wonderful comics and b-movies (and their creators) they’ve enjoyed during the year. The location is easy enough to find: just look for the army of comic fans, Goths, and Imperial Stromtroopers lined up on 7th Avenue and West 33rd Street, across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station.

Heading the Starwarp Concepts booth will be publisher Steven A. Roman. The writer/creator of the horror graphic novel LORELEI: BUILDING THE PERFECT BEAST, Vol. 1, Roman is also the best-selling author of the novels X-Men: The Chaos Engine Trilogy and Final Destination: Dead Man’s Hand. Among his current projects are X-Men: Dark Tide (a CG-animated short for Orlando’s Digital and Visual Effects School, co-scripted with William Vaughan), the graphic novel Lorelei: Building the Perfect Beast, Vol. 2, and short story contributions to the anthologies Doctor Who: Short Trips: Farewells and If I Were an Evil Overlord.

Joining him on Saturday will be painter Bob Larkin, whose cover to The Hulk! Magazine #14 was listed in Wizard: The Comics Magazine #167 as Alex Ross’ favorite comics-related painting. Larkin’s work has appeared on book and magazine covers, posters, and trading cards for such varied properties as The Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian, the X-Men, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doc Savage, Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, and Vampirella. Wrestling fans might also recognize his unique style on World Wrestling Entertainment merchandise featuring The Rock, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Kane, and Chris Jericho.

Larkin will be there to greet fans, to sign copies of Lorelei: Building the Perfect Beast—for which he provided cover art—and to promote the forthcoming publication of THE ART OF BOB LARKIN, a full-color collection of some of his most memorable paintings. The art book, which features a foreword by Joe Jusko, will debut in summer 2006 from SQ Productions, Inc.
