Okay.

Everybody seems to expect Kara to be a traitor or something.

I'm not really sure what the basis for this is. Yeah, she's edgy... But no more than Kon-El. And while there is a "Dark Supergirl" story coming up, the most recent issue of SUPERMAN takes place after that story and pretty much spoils it. The latest SUPERMAN takes place before IC #2.

People have made it sound like Supergirl is going around attacking heroes in the DCU based on the covers to her book. Now, technically, if you've been reading her book, everyone else has been attacking her without real provocation. She's not going on a rampage, she just basically got attacked by Power Girl, whose powers went haywire, attacked by Superboy (she fought back) and then attacked by the Teen Titans (who blamed her for attacking Superboy).

She's not starting these fights.

Now, one thing that stood out was that Power Girl did meet Supergirl and noted that during the "feedback" between the two of them, she sensed a darkness in Supergirl.

Now, everybody wants to lay this on Supergirl (and why shouldn't she have a dark side?) but what if what Power Girl sensed was due to Supergirl being from the current DCU, which is darker and corrupted.

Why is everybody assuming that the current DCU isn't flawed/darkened/corrupted/inferior?

Just because you care about the DCU and the characters in it doesn't mean it isn't an effed up, inside out, flawed universe that needs drastic changing.

I like your theory.

Could be that SG is under some type of mind control.

I've been reading these threads today and I have to say..... You have the best Infinite Crisis theories and I agree with your take on the DCU. Keep up the good work.

What I wonder about is this.......

DC has gone to great lengths lately to promote Supergirl and Powergirl, while returning their backstories to their classic form. Part of what is interesting about Powergirl is the entire Earth 2/alternate universe shtick. How could they do that and then return to a single DCU without neutering Powergirl again?

The success of these two characters gives me some hope that there will two DCU's when this is over.

Because so far, the only reason we have to think that is because one character said it, and that character was an old guy having a right whinge.

But it's the original hero saying it.

I have a feeling that within three months, we'll have a bunch of DCU scientists get together and say, "Whoops, he's been right the whole time! Our universe is dying and the only way to save it is to make massive changes via time travel."
