Am I the only one who is loving these two series right now? Somehow, two characters that I've NEVER cared about have become two of my most anticipated DC titles.
Hawkman should be on everyone's pull list, especially after that last arc.
Aquaman is in the same boat, only Aquaman needs better villains(Though with The Spectre and Blak Manta aiming at Aquaman, its improving)
Anybody else agree with me?

I do. Hawkman has been on my pull list for about a year now, and I've just added Aquaman as well. Two great titles that deserve a wider audience.

Aquaman has been great since the new series began. Arcudi has done wonderful things with Aquaman.

Aquaman and the Sub Diego storyline have been interesting, but I'll admit that I'm waiting for the day Aquaman returns to rule Atlantis.
The last Hawkman arc was great, but I'm gonna miss Joe Bennett. And if certain LitG rumors are true, we'll be missing a lot more soon.

I have to agree with you on both counts. Hawkman has been excellent for quite some time. I picked up Aquaman after Kistler ran that article at the Watchtower and really liked what was going on with the series. Too bad they killed the mad-scientist, he was somebady Arthur could throw around every few issues. I think Atlantis is right around the corner, if 52 doesn't get in the way.

I didn't quite like last issue as much as I did the last arc. But Hawkman has been good.
Aquaman...will definitely be getting into.

The only thing that keeps me from picking up Aquaman is the art. Not saying it's bad... I just don't care for it.
Loving Hawkman, however...

I disagree with the first part and agree with the second. The first batch o issues of the current run were just... ugh.
Now?

I'm reading, and enjoying, them both. Prefer Aquaman, but both reads are great.

I think they are doing so well in terms of story is that the writers are left alone to do whatever they want, unlike Batman and Superman. This allows the writers a freedom to create that others don't and I think the books reflect that.

Possible spoiler:
If the article is to be believed, the title of Hawkman will be changed to Hawkgirl after the one-year gap.

I don't read Aquaman (been meaning to check it out, honest), but I love Hawkman, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Hawkgirl will be like

The only thing that keeps me from picking up Aquaman is the art. Not saying it's bad... I just don't care for it.Are you referring to the former art team Patrick Gleason and Christian Alamy, or the new team of Leonard Kirk and Andy Clarke, who made their debut a few issues ago? You might not be aware that there's been an art change because Gleason and Alamy are still doing covers.
I actually liked Gleason's stuff, but Kirk's art is always pleasing to the eye.
AQUAMAN and HAWKMAN are both good stuff.

What issue did Kirk start on?#33, the one with Aquaman spooning Mera on the cover.

Ah.
I checked out the three page previews over at Mile High...
The inker takes quite a bit of liberty, eh? It doesn't look much like Kirk's work at all.
What happened to the guy who inked his stuff on Bloodhound?

Aquaman has bad artwork. Change the artist and i'll definitely pick it.

I'm really liking Hawkman at the moment, the only downside is that it's tied up in some of his continuinity that I'm not totally familiar with (only been reading the last 10 issues or so.) But it's been a really fine read regardless. Aquaman... I only picked up the Omac tie in, but I'll go back and track down some of the older stuff based on the posts here. Is the beginning of Arcudi's run a good place to start? I'm really not a Pfeifer fan.

The Pfeifer run basically sets up Sub-Diego and a supporting cast. When Arcudi takes over is when things get kicked into high gear, IMO.

I've recently picked up both titles, and I think they're both great, with one reason being--as someone previously stated--the issues don't have strong connections--at least, so far--to Infinite Crisis.

I started picking up Hawkman with #35, the issue that both started the year-long story and brought Joe Bennett on board. Mostly because the character is involved in Rann/Thanagar.
I went from Rann/Thanagar to Hawkman, Green Lantern and Adam Strange. And I've added Green Lantern Corps, as well.

Do you have a link to the confirmation? I've not been able to find one (and technically I've looked really hard).

Hawkman and Aquaman have both been surprisingly good.
Hawkman, in particular, has been a supreme badass of late.

Well it looks like I'll be saving myself a few extra bucks each month when I drop that book from my pull list.

I quickly lost interest in Hawkman, though I tried it again, with the change of teams and directions. It didnt' do much for me then either. I'm going to check out the new Hawkgirl with issue #50, though.
Aquaman lost me, when they put him back in that damn orange and green costume. I really liked the last several runs, and thought before his mini in the 80's that he really needed a new look, so going back to it, was completely un-interesting to me. They also need to either make him the King of Atlantis, and stick with it, or depose him once and for all. He's lost and re-gained his throne so many times over the last 40 years, that it's just gotten boring!

What happened to the guy who inked his stuff on Bloodhound? You read BLOODHOUND? Good man.
BLOODHOUND had Leonard Kirk and Robin Riggs as penciller/inker; AQUAMAN has Kirk and Andy Clarke as layouts/finishes, so you would expect Clarke's influence would be more pronounced with the looser pencils. I still see a fair amount of Kirk in there, but yeah, I'd like to see a little more.
