Alien on the Toilet may bring to mind some pretty awful connatations, but the title instead refers to the humiliation of one hyper-advanced alien out to conquer the earth. I should point out that the idea of aliens on toilets was originated by Jon Pertwee the third Doctor who suggested that it was more frightening to see a Yeti on the loo on earth than a Yeti out in space. He had a point, and Vera may also be aware of the Pertwee quote and choose to show an ironic counterpoint.

What can be said about Vera's story is that it lacks a single scatalogical reference. Instead, what the reader enjoys is a charmly funny tale in which our hyper-advanced alien proves to be absent-minded and ignorant of basic research. This slow-thinking provides the catalyst for hilarious encounters against nature. My favorite joke involved a misidentified primate and the alien's threat against a harmless turtle.

The alien resembles the typical little, green man, and this just adds to the comedy. Taking the traditional far superior intellect and whittling him down more than several pegs was the way to go. As was the cartoony look to the goof when compared to the more realistically drawn fauna.

If this alien seems familiar, it's because he is the spiritual brother of Wile E. Coyote. The problem is that while he has the ego of Wile E., the alien lacks the genius of the Warner Brothers.
