I much prefer the DCU over the Marvel universe any day of the week, but they are the worst company when it comes to publishing trades and when or rather if they do get around to it year will pass. The recent Infinite Crisis tieins were published rather quickly so maybe things are getting better but as it stands right now never ever wait for the trade of your favorite monthly titles that DC publishes.

It was actually DC's trade policy that stopped me from waiting for the trade on everything and getting back to single issues again.
That and Chuck Austen. I just couldn't bear to wait six months for another Uncanny X-men story by him, so I went back to single issues.
What? Why are you all looking at me like that?

There are more Chuck Austen fans out there than you’d think and his sales prove it. There are so many rumors regarding where he is right now, what happened to him, and if we ever see another issue of World Watch.
Moving on, I think DC is making a mistakes by not having an aggressive trade program like Marvel. First you have quite a few fans out there, who for a variety of reasons, only buy trades. Second you can have a weak seller recoup it’s losses by being a strong trade performer. Third how expensive and time consuming is it to publish a trade and throw it out there. Forth you create new fans for your ongoing books by issuing trades. My first Gail Simone experience was buying the first trade of Birds of Prey. Since then I have bought all subsequent issues and everything else Gail has done simply because I browsed that one trade and bought it because I recognized the former Supergirl art team.

Remember that before Jemasada took over, Marvel barely had any trades at all, while DC had a largy library available.
Putting out almost every series in trades is something that Marvel started out only a few years ago, and to me it is still not quite clear how it affects the industry as a whole.
Also, DC's usable catalog goes back further than Marvel's. The golden age Archives edition alone are taking up quite a bit of shelf space in bookstores, and now they have Showcase Presents to compete with Marvel's Essentials - THAT I find has been long overdue!!

Huzzah! Now I won't have to look as hard for that dratted elusive #69! This makes me very happy indeed!
Of course, I still need to find the first BoP trade. With the minis and one-shots. Out of print my arse!

There should be a joke about xeroxing your own butt in this somewhere.

wow. They really *are* behind. I thought it might just be me.
Anyway, we'll see if this reignites my BoP interest.

DC is aware that there's a demand for more Bop, and I'm told that this coming year they'll be playing catch-up a little bit. Hurray!

Besides BoP, the only other book I love enough that I consistently buy the individual issues and then buy the TPB too is JSA. (Though I'm going to be pretty tempted by the Villains United TPB when it comes out).
I just re-read "Between Dark and Dawn" last weekend -- I tend to forget how much I love that arc when I haven't read it for a while. Plotwise I don't think it's quite as strong as "Of Like Minds" or "Sensei & Student," but dialoguewise I think it's as good as anything Gail's ever written, especially when it comes to Huntress. Pretty much everything she says during this entire arc is ridiculously quote-worthy, and I think this is probably my favorite Huntress story ever.

An annual BoP trade would be wonderful and a monthly Simonian BoP is an expectation...
