As I pointed out last night, all the vendors who use Diamond for their distribution are having a holiday sale. I cannot post the lists, because it is 40 pages.

Sale ranges from 10% off to jaw-dropping. So if there is a particular item from a particular publisher, etc., that you are interested in, let me know and I will check the lists. :)

Nothing under Young Justice for the busts category.

These are the categories:

Graphic Novels (T-Z) | Books | Trading Cards | Apparel | Toys & Collectibles
Posters & Prints | Games | DVDs/Videos

That it would. Has anything heard from Disney yet about the other Crossgen comics? Treated for books, movies, cartoons?

Excellent question, Dizzy.

I don't think they have anything yet.

Which is odd, as they seemed ready to move on Abadazad.

Disney has made an anouncement in July that they were going to publish Abadazad:

Disney Steps Into Graphic Novel Fray
With W.I.T.C.H., Pirates of the Caribbean, Abadazad, & Alias
July 27, 2005

But not all of the Disney and Hyperion releases will come from Italy. Disney acquired many of the CrossGen properties (see "Taddeo Bids on Valiant") and is currently planning to revive Abadazad by J. M. DeMatteis and Mike Ploog, who will continue to write and illustrate the property for Disney. In a switch from its comic book origins at CrossGen, Disney plans to publish Abadazad in a hybrid format, described to ICv2 by Disney Editor Rich Thomas. "Not a graphic novel per se, Abadazad will incorporate sequential art segments alternating with prose segments," he said. "The reader will be weaving in and out of blocks of straight prose and then into sequential art."

Asked if Disney was planning to revive any more CrossGen properties, Thomas replied, "There is some interest in doing Ruse from the Publishing Group, but nothing has been committed to yet, so we don't know if we will be moving forward with that or how we would be moving forward with that, but we'd like to do something with it."

Nothing, but I have seen that W.I.T.C.H. comicbook around everywhere over here, so I wouldn't be suprised if it all is working out. The main advantage to Disney is that they are truly going worldwide with these things and that could mean numbers on this book that not only Crossgen, but Marvel and DC would envy.

Well Sam certainly has a lot of options (I've seen Kitty, Psylocke, Meltdown, Lila, Marrow, Rahne, Dani, Amara, and Firestar as names bandied about before) but I do think that yeah, a few months back (2?3?) there's was a question asked about his lovelife.

Maybe Doug? IIRC, we got Kitty (see the Emma kidnaps Kitty and Doug arc), He seemed to flirt at times with Illyana, Tarot seemed to have a thing for him, He got to second base with Roulette (and depending on who you ask, she either helped him in that card game or did it himself), then there's the Psylocke thing, and of course, the Rahne thing.

Obviously we'd have to go with a "had a he lived" thing, ditto were we to do Illyana, or even Maggott

I think I may go with Logan. Not TOO controversial like Cyke, Jean, Kitty or Peter would be. I would've liked Kurt or Sam, but yeah, it's been done. Roberto I could only think of his original girlfriend (Juliana?) and Amara... did he have a thing for Gossamyr? I forget.

But if loving a corpse is a sin... I'll see you in hell

One thing I miss is Cold Ethyl and her skeleton kiss
We met last night making love by the refrigerator light
Ethyl Ethyl let me squeeze you in my arms
Ethyl Ethyl come and freeze me with your charms

One thing
No lie
Ethyl's frigid as an eskimo pie
She's cool in bed
Well she oughta be 'cuz Ethyl's dead

Ethyl Ethyl let me squeeze you in my arms
Ethyl Ethyl come and freeze me with your charms
Come on Cold Ethyl
Freeze me babe

One thing - it's true
Cold Ethyl I am stuck on you
And everything is my way
Ethyl don't have much to say

Ethyl Ethyl let me squeeze you in my arms
Ethyl Ethyl come and freeze me with your charms
Come here Cold Ethyl
What makes you so cold? Ooh so cold

Cold Ethyl
Cold Cold Ethyl
If I live 'til ninety-seven
You'll still be waiting in refrigerator heaven
'cuz you're cool
You're ice
Cold Ethyl
You're my paradise

All Star Superman Out Tomorrow

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
Till there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And grin,
And say,

Oh, All Star Superman'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I'll love it Tomorrow!

Clears away the cobwebs
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck with a day
That's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin
And grin, and say--

Earlier this year, when I spoke to Grant Morrison, he was genuinely excited about All Star Superman in a way that I've rarely seen a writer get excited about any project. Only Rob Liefeld was comparable in his excitement back before he was going to do his X-Force revival, but that might have just been because he was happy to have a job.

The point being, that Morrison and Quitely are the best team working in comics, and he's essentially doing his dream project. It'll be better than any comic out this year so far.

That's harsh, and a misrepresentation.

You can tell great stories using the characters. Or you can "model" the characters and create your own world, like Watchmen, or Astro City to tell stories that get your theme across. But if you pigeonhole a character into something they aren't (in continuity) to make an overreaching point about comics or life, then you are, in my opinion, doing a disservice to that character and his or her fans. I personally don't think it's too much to ask.

Jake V
11-15-2005, 06:51 PM
Aw... my interest wanes again. Will this at least be the version of Superman that kills Lois if she doesn't agree to marry him?
Something like that. Morrison told me that he was taking some cues from the 50's and 60's Superman books. The era where Superman was at his most dickish. Superman will do some fun things with Lois, like telling her he'll marry her if she meets him at a certain spot at a certain time, watching her drive to the spot, and then fusing her car door shut with his heat vision and laughing about it. They'll be messing with eachother. It will be awesome.

One of the coolest things about All Star Superman is that they are letting Morrison just go to town.

Joe Rice must be terribly bored. He's been posting on the X-Board all day.

Probably depressed by the fact that he's not getting married in time. He'll still win the Corrie, but deep in his heart of hearts, he'll know the truth... oh, he'll know.

I read that today!

I really enjoyed it a lot, especially the Warwolves. I only had the pre-"Inferno" Excalibur issues, so it was really a treat to see how it all begun. :)

Didn't I read somewhere that the Warwolves would be coming back? That would rock!
Spoilers for New Excalibur.
I went back and did some nosing around after you mentioned this, and you are correct. Claremont confirmed that the Warwolves would turn up again in Excalibur's second story arc. Kick ass. :)

CC: “A great many fans made clear that - while they appreciated and enjoyed the stories we were telling on Genosha — they did not appreciate what they felt was the misappropriation of the brand-identity of Excalibur,” Claremont said. “In other words, the Genosha series might have been more welcomed had it been differently titled. To those readers, Excalibur means England-Captain Britain-connections to OtherWorld-a visual and story-telling aesthetic more in keeping with the original series by me and Alan Davis. So, this version’s set in London and starts Captain Britain and while it deals very much with the repercussions of HoM it is also very much involved in the fate of OtherWorld. It also has a similar mix of characters, and with any luck will radiate the same eclectic mix of Romance, High Adventure, occasional Comedy, Action and Character! Plus WarWolves.”

<snip>

“The second arc deals with the WarWolves and Kelsey Leigh and starts dealing with the repercussions of her origin story. Major character evolution results, suggestion major relationship trouble down the road for certain members of the team. Juggernaut stands trial for the events of the first arc - isn’t he one of the good guys? - and Dazzler goes shopping for a new bike…waitaminnit — wasn’t she murdered in issue #1? Guest cameo by Cain’s favorite Advocate — Denny Crane!

I did not! I said you had them. That's it. Don't think that everyone here wants your nuts because a few people complimented you in pictures and in person and you have a thing with K'Nort thus making them all jealous. You're reaching Fab-Vain territory there. But what's the paper about? It'd be ironic if you said balls

thankfully, I've kept my cool the entire time and never used a cussed word but I've told how I felt to certain customers who happens to get me at the wrong time. So I got the dressing in your salad wrong, that doesn't give you the right to call me a fuckwad.

I'm in a loopy mood right now because I've got most of a liter of Dr. Pepper in my veins so that I don't fall asleep before this thing is done. I blame all my weirdness on that. :D

Seriously. Keeping cool has really payed off on a couple occasions. I had this one customer on a night that was just terrible and he thought I was watching him. So I'm walking around helping customers he decides to say "No, I don't need any help, and you can stop watching me because I am not going to steal anything." Anybody stealing something is the LAST thing on my mind at my job.

Naw, the paper's all written down. I'm just typing it up and checking my bibliography. That sort of thing. I put it off too long, so I started it around 7 this afternoon. I finished writing it about an hour and a half ago. I think it's more my fault for being on the phone with Kristen in the time I'd usually be doing homework.

Morning all. Hope all is well.

Never knew what the difference exactly is. You can be a smart geek, can't you?
As far as I've always taken it. A geek (as in most of us) it someone who likes or is into Geekdom things, such as comics, figures, RPGing, things like that.

A nerd is a person who is clever and spends most their time studying.

You can have a smart geek but I'm not one of them. Intelligent? sure, but smart,? no.

It is a very common factor though that the 2 go together. Which is sad.

In UK a nerd is known as a boff.
