I knew he'd been working on it and that the finished pages were available for fans to see, but I didn't know someone had finished it. Huh... I thought I'd heard that he didn't leave enough notes for people to know where the story was going, but I might have been wrong about that. Cool.

I still can't understand why people who WANT to save a villain. Sure, they make life more interesting, but if the choice is between a drab, boring existence or being wiped out rather excitingly by mutant terrorists, well, put me on the side of being able to wake up in the morning.

I know you have plenty of visual ref, but i'd want to read them anyway so i can get to know the character better. I find it's way easier to draw a character if i have a clear sense of who they are and all that stuff. That's the main reason i don't draw a lot of DC, i don't read most of the books they put out.

Agreed. I don't think Fishy has even given Astonishing X-Men a chance. He seemed to have had a hate on for it, from the first issue. Mostly involving Claremont not having Kitty. Hell, I'd rather CC had Beast myself, but I'm not going to hate the writer because he got to grab the character he loved. Sure, I'm pretty vocal about my dislike for Morrison, but at least I've read the run and do like some aspects of it. It's not outright pure complete hate.
I do have to somewhat disagree here. Of the core books, it seems to be the one that suffers the most from continuity issues. Ignoring Genosha, the Wild Sentinel design, etc. Maybe it's due to a lack of coordination between Whedon and the other writers. I can't really just lay the blame at Joss though, considering Editors are supposed to deal with these issues. The only book that is fairly continuity error free is CC's Uncanny, but that's not that hard... considering he wrote most of the established continuity. Outside the core books though, and especially in X-Men Unlimited, there's some major canon mangling going on.

Cool. I found some auctions on eBay, considering buying some.
Looking at the finished assortment, I'm wondering why they didn't scale down that Apocalypse and made it the regular figure. He's way better than that shorter one that was in ML8.
Bishop looks like he has Cable's torso. Sasquach looks like he has some elements of the Man-Thing figure. Maestro looks like he's using a standard Hulk body from the Hulk Classics line. Iron Fist looks like he's using the standard male body that was used with Daredevil and Silver Surfer. Wolverine looks like a mostly original sculpt, possibly re-using the arms from the ML6 wolverine. X23 looks like a totally original sculpt, which makes sense.
The only ones I'd really like are Wolverine, Bishop, X23, and Iron Fist. I'll probably end up getting all of them so I can complete Apocalypse though.

That's kind of funny, because they did a Man-Thing figure for the smaller figure line and used the Alpha Flight Sasquatch's body for it.

I'm a bit peeved that they made the Black Costume X-23 the variant. Makes no sense, when the hell did she wear purple anytime in the comics? Did I miss an issue, or am I color blind? Either way, it's a nice assortment. Though I am rather annoyed at the number of freakin' variants. Considering I only buy X-Men and X-Related characters, I need to drop a bunch of cash just to get the variants.

I can't get to my Hulk figure right now but he does have wart type things on his body... if their sculpted (I'll check in a bit when I can) I'm guessing they are a new sculpt. The head is.
Iron Fist's collar is stuck but could be a reused piece. I don't think its Surfers though. I haven't checked.
Bishop's body is bigger then Cable's from what I can remember.

Oh yeah. the warts. I dunno, the shoulder joints look exactly the same as the Savage Hulk figure I've got. But yeah, the head is new.
Iron Fist's shoulders look exactly the same as that regular male sculpt that as used for both Daredevil and SS. The collar could be glued on, much like Black Widow's collar being simply glued on the standard female body sculpt.
Bishop has the exact same torso joint as Cable. It's at the very least a re-used torso.
Not exactly complaining though. Just pointing it out. I'll still pick up all of them.

I know you weren't complaining. ;)
Its a good set though... Toybiz continue to amaze me these past few sets. Theres only a few people I'm dying for right now but I still hope they don't reset into a new figure mold type.
I hate when companys do that again and you have to start your collection all over again. :(
I just checked and Bishop and Cable's torso are different. Bishop is alot "bigger" built then Cable.

My only questions deals with... well, it deals with Wolverine's crotch. His hip joints, specifically. In the ML6 Wolverine, the pegs that connected his legs to his hips came out diagonally, and really impeded posability as far as I was concerned. Does the new Wolverine figure have the same hip joints? are the pegs diagonal or at a 90 degree angle?

The legs are slightly different (not much) so the problem isn't quite as bad but you still will have the same problem on some poses.

Brian, next year the forum mods should put a sticky in their forums, addressed to the posters of that specific forum, explaining what the Corries are and why they should participate. I think there'd be more nominations and votes as a result. Leaving it up to the 'announcements' at the top of the forums doesn't seem to be doing much. Heck, long-time posters don't even pay attention to those 'announcements' (as proven by Drew who hadn't even noticed that the Corries had been under way for over a month).

Danger Mouse makes me happy. Picked up seasons 3 and 4 today at Media Play. And Slively, I'm still waiting for your picture for DMAX... how's that coming along?
GAH. I have not started. I have gathered up a few books tho, like the Wizard guide to basic drawing and heroic anatomy. I have been staring at the lovely drawings in them and wondering how on earth I ever agreed to this.

Ok, so I just think I should tell you what an awesome day I've had.
Today I met Robert Kirkman (writer: Invincible, Walking Dead, Marvel Team-Up, and soon to be Ultimate X-men)
and Ryan Ottley (artist: Invincible, Walking Dead, etc)
And it was mega awesome.
Ottley drew a pic of Atom Eve for me, Kirkman talked to me about what hes going to do w/ Jean Grey in Ultimate. And we argued about Invincible's girlfriend Amber. It was way fun. Oh, and we high-fived. And got a pic w/ them!!!

Did I tell you why I picked Magneto? It was because he has a helmut and I won't have to attempt to draw hair. :p
Haley has drawn Storm, which I need to get scanned and posted. When I do post it, I would be very grateful if everyone could post positive feedback. She could use a self-esteem boost right now.

OH, I just realized!! Gordie has not been around to update the lists! Do I need to intervene?

She is 15. Things started going wrong after she lost both grandmothers and one grandfather within a year. She and my mom used to color together and when I asked her for a coloring page to bury my mom with, she refused (she was in the 4th grade if I remember correctly).
She was very close to my mom, but after my mom passed away, Haley refused to talk about it. In fact, she didn't mention my mom for a whole year. This worried me so much, I took her to a therapist.
So she holds a lot of stuff inside. And when she does try to tell you how she is feeling, she can never find the words.
I just found out recently that she had been bullied by two girls in junior high.
I cannot believe she never told me about this when it was going on. And when something is seriously bothering her, it manifests itself in physical symptoms, like a stomach ache.

Yeah, I can relate to a lot of that, especially keeping things bottled in. When I was a kid, I was a ticking time bomb. I could go weeks being angry at someone but not showing it, until one day when something in my head just clicked and BOOM!!!!!!!! - a month's worth of baggage just blowing up like scattershot. Sometimes I think I may have carried just a wee lil' bit of that personality trait into my adult life. ;)
It's great that you at least REALIZE that her emotional distress manifests itself physically. She's 15 so she might not tell you what's bugging her outright, but at least you're obviously not one of those clueless parents who wouldn't KNOW something was bugging their kid if it came up and kicked them in the ass. Hell, I stressed myself into having a fullblown stomach ulcer - at age 14. A 14 year old kid with a friggin' ulcer!!! What I could have possibly been stressing over THAT MUCH at that age escapes me, but my parents had no clue until the doctor told us.

Thanks, Goose. I appreciate it. :)
I know her so well, that I can tell when something is wrong, but I can't always get to what it is. When she was in elementary school, one of her teachers told the class that a girl in their class had died in a fire. Now I knew about this, but didn't realize Haley had been told. The next morning she was not able to go to school and her stomach was upset.
I knew right away that there was more to it, but waited to see if she would reveal what was wrong. Questioning her usually proves useless.
That night, when she was getting ready for bed, it finally came out. She was very upset about her classmate dying in that fire and was afraid to leave us. I was so relieved that she actually told me. Then we were able to talk about it and I could reassure her.
Parenting classes should be mandatory!! Children don't come with manuals, unfortunately. And you never really know if you are doing the right thing or not. Plus you blame yourself for EVERYTHING. It's always the mother's fault, right? ;)
