What's left of him has BANNED under his name.
He's not listed in the member's listing anywhere.
I followed his posts and can't figure what he did but I'm a little 'noid now. If he can get the axe...anyone can!
Please let me know if this is one of those things we're not supposed to discuss.
My apologies.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm ashamed to say that I honestly hadn't noticed until now.
His disappearance seemed to coincide with the removal of the "sex tricks" thread. Maybe the mods thought he got a bit too sexually graphic one too many times.

Very strange that he just disappeared.
Didn't he have like over 10,000 posts to his name? Seems like a CBR record.

I'm not questioning the decision but I'm glad the ban is only temporary.

Strange. I noticed at one point that Converge had the "BANNED" tag under his name, yet was still posting. I had just assumed that JWK had done the same for some reason.

Personally, I have a problem with CBR's policy of banning users (even if only temporarily) and then deleting the posts that got them banned.
By deleting the offending posts, it makes it harder for an observer to figure out what is considered inappropriate behavior.
I'd like to know why JWK (for example) was banned, so I can avoid doing the same.
Edit the posts, to remove the really offensive content, and include comments from a mod stating the post is inappropriate, but don't just sweep it under the rug and pretend it didn't happen.

It's possible to put "BANNED" under your own name but I think you'll get in trouble if they catch you.
By deleting the offending posts, it makes it harder for an observer to figure out what is considered inappropriate behavior.
It's clearly (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showpost.php?p=1459763&postcount=3) laid out for you.
We know the rules Tom, but maybe like have a thread for stating that so and so user was banned, here is the reason why without needing to go into re-posting whole threads, obscenities or inappropriate posts.
It lets us know if someone who we chat with regularly gets banned and we aren't left wondering why. Anyway it's just a suggestion, hope it helps!

Similarly, different Moderators will have various degrees of what they’re prepared to put up with in regard to what is posted on their boards as well as what actions they take to keep their boards running smoothly.
So, each board has it's own definition of what exactly is and isn't appropriate.
And the only way to find out exactly where that line is, is by crossing it.
So, each board has it's own definition of what exactly is and isn't appropriate.

No, most boards have their own sets of rules posted at the top of the board.

It is the policy here not to do such things. It treats bannings like gossip and the bannee can't respond in a conversation about themselves.

And the only way to find out exactly where that line is, is by crossing it.
The "line" seems to shift, however.
It got to be tough for a mod to discern where that line is and when it has been crossed.
I got a two day ban for posting a "joke" thread with the tag line "BUSH GAY CRISIS HOUSE OF M" and the words, "Made ya look" inside. Two days banned the email said, "Wasting the mods time".
A week ago, the same sort of joke thread appeared and nothing happened.
I'm still wondering where the line was and what is "wasting the mods time".
Gail has a thread now up "Niceness". Open it and it says, "Some things are nice". Well, thats cool. She's the mod here. But what's the diff in that and mine? How is mine a "WASTE" of the mods time and this not?
Regardless, I've seen pure unadulterated anger and bile spewed out here along with sick references to sex and religion in all forms with no ban at all.
Maybe if there was a note:
Jeffrey W Kramer 11/03/2005 said :"BLAH BLAH". Offense :"Hate speach" or whatever. BANNED for 1 week. I think that may answer some questions. Like being a ref...

It's been my observation that silence and mystery spawn gossip. Complete and immediate information doesn't.

Different boards.
Gail's made it very clear to everyone here that her rules are different from the rules on the other forums. For instance, she doesn't ban--even mwm1331 was banned because of actions on other forums.
The comm board 'line' seems less clear to me but I spend much less time here than there. The rules are clear but, as always, rules are enforced by people who don't always agree on the limits of them. It's really unavoidable, given human nature. That said, I see a very consistent application of those rules on the Comm board. It's only with a very few situations that are basically a judgment call that they 'seem to' change. I say 'seem to' because I have this feeling that the mods are privy to information that the posters may not see on the board.
It's been my observation that silence and mystery spawn gossip. Complete and immediate information doesn't.
If people want to gossip about such things, that's none of my concern. There's no practical reason to make announcements regarding bannings and in fact, such things tend to cause more problems than they may solve. What it comes down to is, you're curious about something that's really none of your business. Jeffrey knows exactly why he got his ban.

Different boards have different unspoken rules about what you can and can’t engage in and as posters it is our responsibility to be cognizant of what we can or can‘t say as these things are never spelled out for us. Let’s look at Ron Marz and Gail Simone two of my all time favorite authors. On Ron’s forum it’s generally accepted that you only talk about comics and issues directly linked to Ron even though Ron is an incredible nice man who takes time to answer every individual post. For instance I don’t see us discussing Man Faye or the secret war between pirates and ninjas on Ron’s forum. Gail’s forum on the other hand is a social forum where you can talk about anything and say it any damn way you please as long as you are civil about it as their are several people here who regularly use profanity with the knowledge that no one going to call them on it as long as they play nice.

A member of the community being banned does seem to be the business of the community since (I'm assuming) the reason someone is banned is to protect the community. Saying this person commited an offense to you and your group but we can't tell you what it is because it's none of your business? Now can Jeffery publicly state why he was banned or is that not allowed?

What he said.
The standard for banning seems to be like the old US standard for obscenity. "I can't tell you what it is but I know it when I see it."
As a member of this community, I'd like to have it better defined than that 'lest we turn into the Byrne Forum where moderators pull pranks on posters and ban them for being disagreeable.

I've stated all I intend or care to state about the matter on a thread on the Comm board. I see no reason to continue discussing it beyond what I've stated there.

Plus whatever rules each moderator may or may not set for his or her own board. For the MU forum, I use these (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=84851).

Actually, part of the reason for not discussing bannings with the community is out of respect to the poster who was banned. Jeffrey is free to discuss it if he wishes and in fact has done so.

What is this Tom persons position here at CBR?
He has the red moderator coloring on his name, and from the way he to talks down to everyone on the threads he posts on, I have to suspect that he is one of the owners of some such. Because I don't see him listed as being a moderator or administrator.

Harry,

that board is such a tough one, he has really earned the respect and awe of everyone here at CBR.
as far as I know, he's just a regular CBR member now. . but like a veteran (or an ex President), he kinda keeps the title in honorarium.
