I prefaced the thread with the possiblity of spoilers because I'm not reading anything regularly, so I don't know what's common knowledge and what isn't.

Anyways, on the CBR's main page, they've got a preview for Infinite Crisis: Day of Judgment Special. In it, Dr. Fate (or Nabu, actually) says that Hector Hall has gone on to his reward. Does that mean he's dead, or are he and Lyta finally reunited? I haven't followed JSA for about a year, so I was just curious as to when this happened.

Never take what Nabu says without a pound or three of salt. He's a liar and an opportunist, and he wants to BE Dr. Fate again, or at least pull the strings of whoever is currently wearing the helmet. Hector cut the strings a while back, and has been resisting Nabu at every turn ever since.

Hector and Lyta are...somewhere, but it certainly isn't any "reward". See the current "JSA" arc (issues 78-80 - we're currently on 79).

Hector indicates that his wounds are mortal in JSA 79. So, he's not quite dead yet, but possibly in JSA 80.

The current arc is supposed to remove 2 characters from the JSA, so it looks like this is an inadvertent spoiler for the final issue which hasn't shipped yet.

Doesn't look too good for that character. :D

Hector's been believed dead before, and usurped by Nabu before. I don't think we've seen the last of Mr. Hall or Lyta yet-and remember, they have more powerful allies than even the Spectre, if they get family involved.

In the last JSA issue , Lyta mentioned having a "dream" which i think seems to suggest that their son , Daniel will be involved in their rescue somehow.

And for those who don't know the Hall family tree, Daniel is the current incarnation of Dream.

Dream, for those who have not read the excellent Sandman series by Neil Gaiman, is one of the seven Endless, seven conceptual beings who conceivably stand on levels parallel to the Presence.

Essentially, beings who would make the Spectre cry like a girl.

Not really. They're too bound by the rules of their stations/selves. Although I suppose that Despair could make the Spectre so depressed that he'd cry like a little girl, or Dream give him bad dreams that would upset him (if the Spectre actually slept).

Interesting idea that Lyta and Hector's final resting place might be the Dreaming, though. Daniel has been more open to them lately, and I think the raven spot is currently open for dying DCU characters.

Didn't Carter Hall have a vision of the future that showed him and Shayera in mortal combat with Hector as Dr. Fate?

I thought the last page of the latest JSA showed Hector as a prisoner to Evil JJ. I took it to mean the monsters pursuing Hector and Lyta at the start of the issue were sent by JJ.

No , because Fate got zap by Spectre way before they went into JJ's dimension.

Hector Hall becomes Blue Beetle III.

Now that's a plan.

Hector Hall becomes Blue Beetle III.

You know that would fit in nicely with his old Silver Scarab code name, and Booster Gold just said something about the first thing he needed to do was find the Blue Beetle scarab in Infinity Crisis #2. I think Hector Hall is a very good choice to carry the BB mantle.
