Um... things don't look so good for Chamber.

Hokey shnit! Sux to be Jono right about now.
I was wondering if that would happen if/when he lost his powers, I wonder how they'll restore his jaw and chest, that is, if they can.

See this is why they need to fix the continuity of Marvel. Chamber was "fixed" in Weapon X, then later showed up in the new Weapon X series (STILL FIXED), now they show him again with the hole in his chest! Did Scarlett Witch erase the fact he was in Weapon X??? Come on this is why it is so hard to keep up.

I'm thinking that maybe the explanation that the fake Chamber gave to Excelsior was based on the truth: That he used his power recklessly after leaving Weapon X, and undid the repairs.
Seriously, who would want to be kept alive in that condition?

Quick Question: I have not read House of M #8 yet, but I understand Wanda says "no more mutants", and suddenly there are only 198 mutants left in the Marvel Universe. Has it been explained why those 198 people were not affected by Wanda's magic? Thanks in advance for any answers.

Dr. Strange tried a counterspell when she said "no more mutants" but it wasn't enough to save all mutants.

I get the feeling from the previews that they just find her like that, in the ground. No fight.

Oh man, that pic of Chamber makes me wanna cry. That poor guy.
As for continuity problems- wasn't Chamber's chest un-fixed post-Weapon X?
And is the big Dragon the woman Cleremont created who could transform?

Wouldn't she have just transformed back into a human? Or is she still a mutant but shot down? I guess it will be more clear when there are words. The art's amazing. Interesting coloring choices as well.

Though judging by that preview, apparently her mutant power was to turn human, not to turn into a dragon, since removing her powers does not cause her to not be a dragon.

By the preview, it's not clear if she's actually one of those mutants who have been depowered. If that is the case, it would make her a mutant who's natural state is to be a dragon. Umm.. Okay!

It's a shame, though. She and Lockheed never got a chance to hit it off.

That'd be a freaky romance.
They should've done it.

Evangeline Whedon? That could be, although I don't remember her dragon form looking like this. Although, for Marvel these days, that doesn't seem to mean anything.

Love the artwork. Looks very cinematic and surreal. Surreal should definitely fit the mood of this book and how the characters feel, having been going through all of this.

Looks like I'll have to break out my XXM issues. Ugh. I hate having them in the last boxes. They're always at the bottom.

So it's not that there are no more mutants, it's that all mutant powers are shut off. It's like when the X-gene was shut off a few years ago. Flying mutants lost their wings or whatever and fell to their deaths. Blob lost his gurth but kept the excess skin.
Chamber's power is shut off, leaving a gap in his chest and mouth where his living furnace was coming from. Even though the gaping hole was already repaired or at least contained to a small control device on his chest when Weapon X got him. Now this can be explained away, albeit crappily, by saying in the House of M universe, Chamber's chest was a living furnace of bio-kinetic energy again and the return to proper form undid any Weapon X fixes or the fix from weapon x was only in effect as long as his powers were active.
But this isn't no more mutants. If she just got rid of the powers of mutants, there wouldn't be any after effects like this, she just shut down the mutant gene.
So does this mean the return of the X-Corps?

I love chamber, and my jaw did drop as soon as I saw the picture, but I still won't be reading any post "House of M" x-books. It doesn't seem like anything means anything anymore:
Chamber is on the brink of death for having his furnace turned off and for having a giant hole in his chest and face which they "fixed" in Weapon-X but decided didn't count, though we're all sure he'll get his powers back at some point or they'll "fix" him again until some other writer decides to un-fix again.
whatevs, X-books. I'll stick to spidey: It's not that his continuity is any better, it's just there are less people in it to keep straight.

Aw, that sucks really bad. That picture was really gross, and it's not even real!
Hellfan: Chamber is a mutant who was first introduced as a member of Generation X. I can't remember if he was in the Phalanx Covenant arc or not. His power is according to uncannyxmen.net: "vaporized chest cavity is filled with a fluctuating energy field that he manipulates through psionic biokinesis; he communicates telepathically through broad or personal thought projection and projects bionuclear energy discharges."

There's precedent. They justified Warlock in the New Mutants (in the comic, no less) by saying that his mutation was that he wasn't evil (or words to that effect; I don't remember exactly what it was, other than that it was pretty bogus).

And don't forget the mutant cat Beast got the hots for.
:o
Just because there's precedent, doesn't mean it's not a silly idea! :D
Lets see what the narration bubbles say first before we start classifying her as a genetically challenged dragon. She may have been unaffected by the woogie, and be crashing to the ground for another reason all together.

is it me or is he blonde here?
its a cool pic, gotta give Marvel props for showing him like that, they couldve kept it off panel or discreetly had most of him covered by some device, but I like that it shows what he looked like under the psi-flame...
I just hope he doesnt, you know, DIE. :(

What a pointless fucking waste of a great character. It's not like this is in the service of any great story.
They don't even seem to know what the fuck's going on line-wide - some guys get fixed, some stay freaks, and it's just pointlessly depressing.
Chamber was a cool concept, a cool design. This really sucks.
