Well, "Tom, Sarah, Usher" did feature A Pimp Named Slickback, so it couldn't be all bad...

I'm just thrilled the series is finally back. The best original AS show hands down.

"Tom, Sarah, Usher" was the first of the new episodes I've seen, can any one tell me how many I've missed?

Well this week's episode, "Thank You for Not Snitching" is heads and shoulders better than last week's "Tom, Sarah, Usher" (was it just me or some that whole episode pure crap?). Ed Wuncler III and Gin Rummy are in it so you know its gold.

It's just you, 'cause from the time Tom started singing "Sarah's Smile", I couldn't stop laughing!

Meh, the last third was OK, but I couldn't help but be irritated by Sarah as the randomly starstruck bimbo.

I'm really not feeling this season so far. The return of Stinkmeaner was a step up from the last couple episodes, but that's not saying a whole lot.

Anyone else think Sarah might be carrying Stinkmeaner's child now?

Yeah, I really am not digging this season, and I'm shocked it took MacGruder and the writers a year to come up with it. The fantastical elements have been amped up, and the real life stuff is just gone at the moment. Though have to admitt the Ruckus parts are still pretty funny.

The anime-esque fights are dumb. Sucks that they're becoming more frequent.

Plus, it's high time Caesar debuted, if he's going to. Huey needs some kind of foil to make him look less saintly and more fanatical. But besides all that, the show's still a good watch.

Well, I know its wiki, but going there and reading the wiki on the Boondocks show, they have a point about something: Jasmine is essential Huey's foil. She has a generally optimisitic outlook on life (the lemonaid stand ep notwithstanding) that contrasts sharply with Huey's cynicism. So at this point if they brought him on he'd be kinda redundent. Though I guess it could still happen in some way.

Thing about Caesar, though, is he's roughly Huey's intellectual equal, and is still more optimistic than him. Jasmine works as a foil up to a point, but she's still pretty dumb (thanks to her dad, more than anything), and unable to debate on Huey's level.

Jasmine strikes me as amazingly naive as opposed to dumb, which still, yes, makes debate impossible between the two. In fact most of the time Huey finds himself trying to educate her on the harsh realities of life. But she's still his foil none the less. I wonder what Aaron McGruder's reasoning is for not including Caesar and playing up Jasmine? Is it possible he feels their debates slow down the show?

I've never seen the original strip, but isn't it more readily able to focus on current events? Those would probably be more debate worthy. The show takes alot longer to produce so it wouldn't really be possible to debate about current events.

Maybe that's a reason?

Well, in the strip, Caesar and Huey didn't debate, so much as Caesar always encouraged him to take it easy and whatnot.

"So, whattya plan on doing now, Huey?"

"I dunno...maybe I'll do some volunteer work or something. Help out some kids."

Oh and when the dude by Busta Rymes got a call from his mom. "Mom I gotta go...mom I'm in a meeting...I'm gonna call you back! I said I would! Come on mom I'm gonna call you back, I promise! Okay. Okay. I love you two, mommy." *hangs up phone* "YEAH! [bleep!] GRANDAD!"

I liked it, too, particularly "Ann Coulter's" off-camera persona, Fred Willard as Riley's befuddled teacher, and the Bill Cosby cameos. Ruckus' monologuing about racial slurs ("N****r just naturally rolls off the tongue...") was pretty classic, as well.

Glad that they followed it up with the repeat of the MLK episode. That's one of my fave Boondocks eps, by far.

Anytime Fred Willard shows up, it's a pleasant surprise. He may not always deliver his best work, but at least there's a chance. This recent guest shot on The Boondocks, he brought the funny.

I've never paid attention to Ann Coulter; I think I've seen an interview of her once, and never cared to see anything involving her again, but her portrayal in this last episode had me laughing.

The MLK episode is one of my favorite episodes of television in a long-ass time. A very long time.

And for the life of me, I can't stop watching "Stinkmeaner Strikes Back." I laugh harder every time I do.

THAT explains it. I remember reading about the hunger strike episode the week before it was supposed to air and wondering why it didn't.

Ah, well. Sucks that it won't be aired (and who knows if that's true; shows like X-Files and Family Guy have both had episodes that supposedly would "never" air), but I'm sure it'll be available on the internet or DVD before long.

The good news is, this should bring the show even more attention. And I get a petty thrill out of BET and Reggie Hudlin being brought some notoriety.

As long as they're on the DVD, I'm happy.

That said, according to the newsarama article, the hold up is on Sony's end, not CN's (probably BET flexing over not airing Sony artists' videos or some mess if they let Boondocks make fun of them-- boo-hoo), so that may put the ultimate fate of these eps in jeopardy.

The dollar will decide. If everyone makes a satisfactory amount, things are smooth.

I still believe that they will make it on to a dvd release.

Which company can afford to take a loss on this one? The product is finished, as is my understanding. People have been paid for their work; what's there to gain by abandoning it in limbo, and who gains from it?

Corporations will go to great lengths to avoid potentially costly (both financially and in terms of public relations) legal action. Besides, TV networks, movie studios, and production companies shelve completed work all the time for all kinds of reasons.

I agree about the first half of the season. I felt like it fell into the same trap the second season of Heroes did, mining the first season for material instead of showing us something new.

There was good stuff here and there, but no wall to wall laughs like in the first season.
