From today's Marvel Comics panel at Wizard World Texas (courtesy of Comics Continuum (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0511/04/marvelpanel.htm)):

Mike Deodato Jr. is the new artist for the New Avengers, starting with #17.

As I've stated numerous times before, I'm not a fan of Deodato's current art style - heck, I'd prefer to see him return to the type of art he utilized on his Wonder Woman run in the mid-90s - so it looks like I'll be dropping this book after the Frank Cho issues.

I'm kind of bummed about this...as someone who has never read the Avengers on a regular basis, I was rather enjoying this version of the team.

I thought he already was doing the art for AVENGERS. But then that was a copy of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

DROP New Avengers???

Blasphemy! ;P

It ain't the art that has me squealing over every issue.

And a change in colorist could make a huge difference in Deodato's work. If D'Armata is gonna stick around for coloring or Morry Hollowell. They could really add something to it. Dan Kemp's coloring style doesn't exactly fit Mike's current art style as well as it did Romita's stuff.

Who will be taking over the pencils on Amazing Spider-Man? Is Romita Jr coming back? :D

I'm still holding out hope that JR JR will be back at some point. However, I think that it's time for Marvel to put one of their up and coming superstars on the book and to me Steve McNiven is the perfect guy for the job! Who knows when the Bryan Singer UXM arc is going to begin so let's get McNiven a high-profile job in the meantime.
