Crystal Sky Pictures has bought the rights to long-running Konami video game franchise Castlevania and has set helmer Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien vs. Predator, Resident Evil) to adapt and direct.

*****

Anderson. On Castlevania. I'm about to throw up.

If it were Paul Thomas Anderson, though, I would've cried in joy.

Just be glad it ain't Uwe Boll (not that I don't like his work, I just hear he has a bad rep when it comes to video game movies).

Well.

It's bette rthan Uwe Bool.

As Boll compeltely disrespects contiunity.

Paul: Got Mrotal Kombat 1 right. (Then again very simple formula.)

In Castlevania: God I can hope. But I doubt he'll do it justice.

Uwe Boll, in "Alone in the Dark," set a poorly choreographed sex scene between Christian Slater and Tara Reid to a bad anti-racism punk song about how a baby is born not knowing what color its skin is.

Anyone who likes Uwe Boll's "work" ought to be thwapped upside the head with a 2x4.

D suppsoely came before Vania and was inspiration for the game.

Its certainly possible. VHD the movie came out in 85, while the first CV came out in 86. But I think the inspiration was all the old hollywood horror movies, since most of those old monsters make appearances in the game.

Plus, he had the contempt for his audience to cast Reid as an archeologist. An archeologist who can't properly pronounce "Newfoundland." Not since Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist has my intelligence been so insulted.

At least Anderson's movies can be watchable to the point of being guilty pleasure worthy unlike Uwe Boll's films. So unlike most people Im not gonna bitch and complain about Castlevania until I see the casting choices and a teaser trailer.

And I thought I was the only one who liked that film.

AvP was one big alien jobberfest. It was neutered for the PG-13 rating, and the way people with actual combat training were killed like cattle while people with none were able to survive was annoying. But it was watchable.

The first "Resident Evil" is pretty stupid. Worth watching for the gore effects but nothing else holds my attention. The sequel is a completely incomprehensible mess where we get to watch Mila Jovovich use the same damn spin-kick fifty times and then run down a building.

The original "Mortal Kombat" is one of my fave guilty pleasures.

It can't be much stupider than Van Helsing.

AvP isn't even the worst movie in the franchise (that'd be Alien: Ressurection) and heck, maybe the director's cut will redeem it somewhat. Though unless they reshoot everything from when the chick teams up with the Predator onward, it'll always be cringe-worthy.

I actually liked Apocalypse better than the first RE. At least they just went for action, rather than the first one, where it seemed as if a few parts might have been intended to be scary, but none were. The cast of 'Thriller' slow marching towards people that shoot them just doesn't interest me. Milla doing her matrix fu on zombies and soldiers and Nemesis isn't as pedestrian.

Apocalypse was crap, not worthy of being anything but a slighty offensive way to waste an hour and half or so.

"What yield?" WTF?

AvP was crap too. The Preds were jobbed out mercilessly. In every other encounter, in comics and whatnot, they are able to take on at least a few aliens themselves, here, not only do two of them get taken out by one alien, but none of them carry acid resistant equipment. Preds are tough and macho, not retarded.

But hey, I just hope the movie is better than Van Helsing.

Well, I liked House of the Dead. (Especially the action scene with the rap music and the bullet-time.)

Or Van Helsing, for that matter. I mean, really: "A mediocre action film with characters ripped from horror classics." Did I just review Van Helsing or a copy of Castlevania I got by time-traveling a year into the future?

Never gets old, even when you blast through it 4 times in a week on TBS.

I can also pull off a dead-on MK announcer voice, handy for everyday situations. :p

Yeah at least in Freddy vs Jason neither of them looked weak when they were fighting eachother. Even without using his dream powers in the real world Freddy was still a threat to Jason. No signs of a one sided fight in that one compared to A Vs P.

Well, they were rookies. Only the very best predators are suppossed to be able to go hand to claw against Xenomorphs. From a logical standpoint, I supposse it makes sense, but from a storytelling standpoint, it was aboslutly horrible to have two of the three predators get killed within a few minutes of the when the species meet on on screen, and by the same damn drone! If the big "Celtic" Pred had killed his opponent then immediatly gotten jumped by another alien, it would have been much better.
