View Full Version : The Transformers Toys/Re-Issues Thread

Figured I'd start this up again. I want to get those re-issues so bad, but...stupid bills.
So far, the only TF toys I have if most of the Beast Wars/Machines run. Black Arachnia, Silverbolt, those. Kind of ironic when I don't really like those runs, but some of the toys looked cool.
I love the way Megatron for Transformers: Energon looks almost exactly like Galvatron, only with a big tank instead of a plasma cannon. And he transforms into a Cyclonus-style jet. I miss Cyclonus and his rabbit ears.
Toys R Us seems to be the official home of Unicron. I swear, the two Toys 'R Us's in my area has GOBS of Unicrons. Unfortunately, most of them are with the black color scheme. Which is okay, but I prefer the original color scheme.
Some of the recent reissues I haven't been happy with.
Who cares about Target Master Hot Rod! Or Stepper!
Give us Wheejack and Sunstreaker already!
Or how about the Decepticon tapes?
I'd love to see a reissue of Octane.

I actually think Wheeljack IS in the works.
Would love to see all the tapes myself, as well as Fortress Maximus and the other Head Masters.

I believe you're right. They showed pics of him during a Japanese toyshow last year or something like that. It had all the Gen 1 first wave cars like Hound, Sideswipe, etc. Seeing as how Hound has recently been offered, I think it's sooner than later.
What they also need to reissue are all the combiners.

No kidding. I would LOVE to own all the Seacons. I only had the main one that turned into a turtle when I was a kid. There's a gold variant called God Neptune that pops up on eBay every now and then, but I always get outbid.

I really want to see if they are gonna really make the Dodge neon srt-4 as Alternator BumbleBee.
I mean, it's really the best fit.

Well, i dont really like Energon toys. Not too many of them are appealing to me.
They either look crappy in robot or vehicle mode.
Rodimus is cool though. So is Divebomb and Arcee. I think Shockblast will be nice but taht's aboot it.
Alternators are the shiznit :)

Did Star Scream ever come out as a re-issue? My Toys R Us has so many jets, but they don't have him. :(

Yep. In fact, he's been reissued to death, like Prime himself.
Get the Takara verson. It's more faithful to the original. TRU versions are modified somewhat. Of course, some don't mind that.

I don't think I'd mind, because unlike most of my stuff...i'd leave this one in tha package. I just want my favorite cartoon character.

I got the 20th Anniversary Prime.... I could club people to death with this toy, it's so heavy. I'd like to see more remakes that favor the cartoon's robot designs. Iron Hide and Rachet were weak when they orginally came out.

There are some model trailers available in stores that fit/match his size.
Of course, they dont open and have Roller but still.

I don't mind the idea of Target Master Hotrod, except that they've already done a Hotrod, or is it the same one?
Wheeljack and Sunstreaker are my two most wanted of the original cars as well, espeically Sunstreaker. Hound I don't care about, I own the original.
The Decepticon tapes and Soudwave would be great, and while we're at it, Stunticons and Constructicons!

Well Stepper's not SO bad, we never got him in the states, though in robot mode he does look a lot like Jazz.
And i know the Hotrods are the same, they already released one Hotrod, was that the original or Target master? I have no problem with either Hotrod being released but both is overkill, you're right.
SuperGodGinrai

Stepper was just a repaint of jazz (more or less)
I'm wondering what color they'll make the BT/Alt though.

It was the orginal. I also have the all black and clear Hot Rod as well. Cool color shemes.
The Target Master only recently was released. Plus, unlike the first reissue, it was released in the book style format (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/subtoy2.asp?Queryid=tf311).
I'm wondering what color they'll make the BT/Alt though.
Isn't he supposed to be that red Mazda RX-8 one? Or have they yet to name that guy?

Yeah, but i don't think it'll be red. Probably more towards the white.
Normally, the protos are made in a similar colored plastic to give the idea of the toy in the "wanted" color.

Good call.
I found some pics at the HobbyLink Japan site. I really love the design. Looks badass. I think it's better than Smokescreen in robot mode. Plus, there will also be a reddish colored version as well. I hope they also release a silver/chrome version too.
You can check it out here (http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?TAK12482).
And another variant of Smokescreen, which isn't quite as attractive can be seen here (http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?TAK12483).
Anyone else on BigBadToystore.com's mailing list? Here's what I got from it:
TAKARA BINALTECH BT-09 WHEELJACK: We've received preliminary info about the BT-09 release. Wheeljack will be a white repaint of the BT-06 Tracks release. Takara has not officially announced this release yet, but we are confident based on past pre-announcement info that has leaked out that Wheeljack will be announced soon. BBTS should be the first place to offer this new Binaltech figure for pre-order - enjoy!
So for those who don't like the yellow color, you can always go with the white. :)
adamthered
05-30-2004, 04:02 PM
The Wheeljack info was false, it's not real. BBTS has already removed it from their site.
Anyway, now were suppose to be getting 2 different Meisters and four new 2004 Smokescreens. I don't know what is going on but I'm not buying another Smokescreen because they change some parts and paint apps.
I may get that white Meister. Or even the red one. Looks really good.
I'm not usually into Micromaster reissues but this looks pretty neat. It's a repaint of Sixbuilder in Devastator color. Check here (http://www.tfw2005.com/article2055.html&mode=nested).
Hey check this (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act233//) out. Looks better than it's original color scheme. The blue makes it look more badass don't ya think? I might just have to get it.

Though I'm not so big of a sucker that I'll be picking up the newest version of Smokescreen. Blah to sticker updates and a few remolder sculpts.

JD, I'd really go with Takara Collection #9 for Screamer. You get him in show accurate colors, he comes with remolded fists so he can hold a small Megatron in gun mode (which comes with the figure) as well as an extra fist for Optimus Prime retooled to hold the Megatron gun as well.
Of, if you want, I have a Screamer reissue from before the Takara collection began. He's been opened and the stickers applied but has been put back in his box. He's tip-top.
I actually like the first reissue better. The TV show color (blue) is a little too bright for me.

SMKSPY, for Heroes of Cybertron you might want to check if there are any Shopkos in your area. Or Rite Aids. They are some of the other places that were selling them besides Wal-greens. I have only seen Wave 4 & 5 at the Shopko here. I actually made a two hour round trip to St. Cloud, MN so I could get all of Wave 5. Wave 4 I ordered from Big Bad Toy Store.
No asnwer for you on Prime. I know sometimes if you take some clear nailpolish you can coat the piece you're having trouble with and sometimes that helps them stay in place once the extra layer is on it.

Cooool. I just might have to do what your planning. A single volume would be much easier to browse and locate people then (I forget, 8 issues?) issues would be.
Not to mention that anyone who's even remotely interested in Transformers must not do without these handbooks. The art in them is excellent. Some have criticized them for not having enough text. Who cares.

I remember Rodimus Prime being one the crappiest figures my brother and I owned when I came out. Hardly and articulation and just an overall bad figure playwise. He looks nice if you ignore his legs being so close together and his vehicle mode is gorgeous if you like having a customized Winnebago.
The Transformers Who's Who thing that came out not too long ago said he was actually a truck. :D So, I figured all this time Rodimus was a futuristic lowrider.
I had Rodimus as a kid and thought he was cool. I liked his big-azz gun. I just hated he was so much smaller than Galvatron. In the cartoon they were the same height but in the toys, they weren't, probably because Galvatron's corresponding toy was Ultra Magnus and Rodimus, I'm guessing, was a last-minute toy creation to match the movie?

Cooool. I just might have to do what your planning. A single volume would be much easier to browse and locate people then (I forget, 8 issues?) issues would be.
More like two volumes. It's been revealed here (http://www.americandreamcomics.com/index.php?catid=102&itemid=3842) that the first volume will only collect the first four issues. The ad itself is proof enough that Amazon is mistaken. It will ship October. Looks like we're not too late. Cool.

AAAUUUUGGGHHH! Is that a statue, or the real deal? Shockwave was the one toy I wanted back in the mid-eighties, that never seemed to make it to shops downunder!
Hehehe. It's a statue from Palisades Toys. A little too purplish but I think it's not finished yet. Just a computer 3-D rendition. They might add a touch of battle damage to it to the final product, like they did for the Prime, Soundwave, and Megatron statues.
As for the toy itself, I'd love to own one. Hard to find a good conditioned one on Ebay. I hope they re-issue it down the road. Does Takara still have the rights for it? Anyone?
Anyone know any other online stores that are selling the red Alternator Meister? The red version is limited, no? And here I thought it would be equal in number to the white one.
BigBadToyStore ran out as their order is sold out. You can only order the random way now.
And whatever happened to the Transformers World 2005 site? I usually rely on that site to give me links to various online stores. It seems someone has taken over. Have they moved?
It seems the red version of Meister is equal to that of the white one for shipment. Cool.
Okay, so awhile back I posted a pic of a new Binaltech (BT) -07 - Smokscreen coming soon.
http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/images/pre980big.jpg
And most of us agreed that it looked pretty ugly with those grey parts?
It seems that the grey indicates that those are the parts that will be modified fom the original version and will also be painted to look like the rest of the car. Plus, it will have either one or two shoulder rocket launchers this time around, just like it's Gen 1 counterpart.
You can view the finished product here (http://members9.tsukaeru.net/ty1_toys/toys/BT_07.htm). Shows a comparison between the original release and the new one.
I think this looks much better too.
Silly me. And I just ordered the first version. Crap.
And here's something helpful. It's a site (http://shoppertron.com/) which helps you find the best price possible for online stores.
There's always Ebay, but if you don't have the patience....
And here's the bio (http://www.fantofan.jp/photo%20gallery/binartech/bt-07/bt-07profile.jpg), which seems to confirm that it comes with one missle launcher.

Nope, Takara doesn't own the rights to this mold any longer and I believe that company that did no longer exists. The same goes for Omega Supreme and Jetfire as well. It's sad that to get this figures I'm gonna have to fork out some money (especially for a minty mint Jetfire). :(

I've gotten Alternator Prowl. The new alternators have finally made there way to Wal marts in my area.
And don't fret about Jetfire, all he is is a macross jet and they have reissued fully transforming macross jets, they are collored different but you should be able to pick one up for around $50
Man, this thread has really fallen off radar. I gave up on it cause no one was responding to the many pics I posted. I thought I was the only one here. lol.
As for what I bought recently. Binaltech Streak, Prowl, and Meister (red and white). I'm not all that keen on all the Binaltechs. Some don't seem to interest me. Still thinking of getting the second version (GT) of Smokescreen with the black trims and rocket launcher though. I think they're Takara's best line to date. Very well designed and some of them look so badass. I held Meister in my hand and man, it's pretty weighty. I think they should release a Binatech comic or cartoon. I think that'd be awesome. What does everyone think of the Binaltech Windcharger? At the moment, I'm kind of iffy on it. I'm not too sure on the lower body part. And check out this Alternator Grimlock here (http://www.tfans.com/index.php?showtopic=11655). Not bad. And if you're still iffy on getting Meister, check here (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act269/), here (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act270/), here (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act259/), here (http://members10.tsukaeru.net/io_222/2004/bt08meister.html), and here (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act260/).
I also received my reissue Insecticons the other day and they look sweet. With energon cubes even. Cool! I'm skipping E-Hobby's Insecticon clones though. Not into them.
I wonder which tape will come along with Soundblaster? I'd think Ravage and Buzzsaw would be nice.
As for the macross jets, if you're going to buy some, get them from Yamato. Their line is high quality with diecast. I believe they come in 1/48 and 1/60 scale. My brother's friend is really into them. I'd get some but man, are they pricey (over a hundred bucks!), even generally more than Transformer reissues or imports. I've also held those in my hand and they are very highly detailed and very weighty. Worth the price? Depends how much of a Macross fanatic you are I guess. Try Macross World (http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/_toys_yamato.htm) if you're interested.
Btw, here's a review of Alternator Grimlock (http://www.tfans.com/index.php?showtopic=11655).

What is the Alternator Prowl of which you both speak? There's been an Alternator Blue(Silver)streak and Smokescreen released by no Prowl that I know of.
I definitely pick up Binaltech Windcharger. It's cool to have one of the minibots get the Binaltech treatment, even if the headsculpt looks more like the Omnibot Overdrive than Windcharger. So far I've picked up all the Binaltech figures except for Smokescreen with the missile launcher. I'm debating on that one.
It hasn't been revealed what tape(s) will come with Soundblaster. I know a lot of fans want him to come with those really rare Japanese tapes. I would be happy if he came with the remaining 84 tapes (Buzzsaw, Frenzy, Ravage, & Rumble) because my main focus is finishing the 84-85 run of figures.
The Clone Army figures are very nice looking in person. Lots of reds and blacks, they look really evil.

#17 Blitzwing
#18 Soundblaster.
:D Yes, more Decepticon goodness coming our way in early 2005!
Enjoy all.
I already have Blitzwing but I'll pick him up anyways. Can't resist new factory sealed toys. :D
And I bet E-Hobby will release the diaclone colored verson.
I'm still waiting for Sunstreaker, Mirage, and Wheeljack though. I think they're the only ones missing from the Autobot '84 line, along with some minibots.
And yes! Predaking will be diecast. Awesome!
As for the Galaxy Force toys, not interested.
Btw, that black Binaltech/Alternator Tracks (Ravage) looks good. It's too bad they don't have a face revealed when his jaw opens like Voltron. But I guess that would screw the idea of it being Ravage.

Hey, Predaking is diecast! Completely missed that.
Yeah, it's probably a safe bet we'll see E-hobby Blitzwing in Diaclone colors. Bring 'em on, I get my raise in January!
Already put my preorder in for these two, Ravage, and Windcharger with BBTS.
BigBadToystore.com lists the Binaltech/Alternator Windcharger as Overdrive (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/toystan.asp?Queryid=pr113).
So should I pick up Transformers Generation 1 More Than Meets The Eye Voume 1 trade this Wednesday? Or do you think Dreamwave will be evil enough to collect it into one handy volume after they release the two volumes?

One volume...
**sits dreaming about it**

Man, that does look sweet.
And it looks like Soundblaster will include Ravage and Rumble. And just so folks don't get confused, Rumble's the red one, not the blue one like the cartoon. Was there ever an explanation for the cartoon name switch?
Super Link (Energon) Black Rodimus Convoy can be seen here (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act273/). Man, I'm still trying to get my hands on Micron (Armada) Scourge (http://www.tfkenkon.com/collection/act152/).

He's rare? i used to see him all the time. I think it was last year though.
He's rare? i used to see him all the time. I think it was last year though.
You probably saw the domestic released versions Armada Nemesis Prime Z (http://www.tfkenkon.com/collection/act146/), Armada Scourge (http://www.tfkenkon.com/collection/part4/act87/index.php) or Nemesis Prime (http://www.tfkenkon.com/collection/act149/).
The one (http://www.tfkenkon.com/collection/act152/) I posted is an import and exclusive through a Japanese mag called TV Magazine. They all have the same mold. I just prefer the color scheme of the Micron Scourge more.
So it seems that Hasbro will call the Binaltech/Alternator Honda S2000 Windcharger while Takara will call it Overdrive, which makes more sense seeing as how the head sculpt is similar to that of Gen 1 Overdrive.
Another look at Overdrive/Windcharger. Legs don't look all that bad compared to earlier pics, which looked very toothpick like. I may just have to get him after all. :)

I'm debating on whether to get the single issues or break down and buy the trades. I love issues, but trades are so much easier to read.
I love the Windcharger. I'm sick to death of all the remolds becoming Decepticons however. I want new Molds for them damn it!!!
And is it me, or are all the Alternators starting to look alike. I mean Tracks, Hound, and Windcharger are pretty different in body style, but the Smokescreen body type is really starting to get on my nerves. And differents styles of cars would help also.
I found this cool site (http://www.binalternators.de/binaltech_english.html).

I think I'm going to pick them up.

If you don't have the issues, I'd advise the trade. For some reason the issue keep going for well above cover price.
I'm hoping for a one or two volume hardcover set.
So how any Dreamwave hardbacks have been released already?
I know the first Generation One mini got one, as well as the first War Within mini. Anything else?
A hardback of More Than Meets The Eye would be sweet indeed.

I bought these at Big Lots. I only opened one.
I opened up Superion and had arms and legs falling off just trying to transform the jets for the 1st time. I left the other two unopened. I'lm taking all 3 back. I found the quality to be really shoddy. And that's saying alot, I expected them to be cheaply made but thought they could survive more then their initial transforming.

Luckily, I have all original 80's combiner sets (Devastator, Gen1 and Gen2 yellow ones/Superion/Bruticus/Computron/Abominus/Menasor/Defensor/Predaking). And they're all in mint condition. Waiting to get a display case to house all my Transformers (Gen 1, Binaltechs, some Energon (Superlink) figures like Rodimus/Grimlock/Swoop/Wheeljack) and other stuff like DC statues/maquettes, Bowen statues).
Takara is releasing a Masterpiece Ultra Magnus figure (repaint of Prime masterpiece). Kind of iffy on it at the moment. What's up with the green colors at mid? Although, this could just be a prelim pic.

Sorry about jumping on to this thread but looks I have the right folks here to answer this question. I was interested in purchasing the 20th annivesary prime but apparently there are 2 versions. One US and one Japanese. Can anyone here tell me the difference and why does the Japanese one seem to cost so much more when they look identical to me?

Yes, there are differences.
The Hasbro US version has shortened smokestacks (which the pic at bottom doesn't show) and that battle damaged charcoal look. The Takara Japanese version doesn't have that battle damaged charcoal look and the smokestacks aren't shortened. Plus, I much prefer the Japanese packging. You can actually buy detachable smokestacks for the Hasbro version though. Then there's the gun color. Hasbro's is mostly black while Takara's is mostly gray. There were early releases of the Hasbro version that included gray colored guns. Everything else should be identical. I bought the Japanese version myself cause I didn't like the battle damge look as shown below.

Be sure to pic up this import book as well if you're interested.
Jive Entertainment has put up a page dedicated to a new encyclopedia dedicated to the first few series of G1 Transformers. The book, called Transformers First Series Complete, encompasses not only the Japanese figures, but also the U.S. release figures like Sky Lynx. The book contains pictures of the toys in all of their forms as well as history on their animation counterparts. One neat thing is that the figures will be compared to their pre-Transformer versions (Diaclone, Microchange, Microman, etc.) where applicable.
The book is scheduled for an December 17th release, contains 144 pages, and a price of 2800 Yen (about $26.69 USD). See the page Here.

Hmm...more purple. I thought the Wal-Mart version was missing something. I know you can get it everywhere now, but originally it was just Wal-Mart, and SOMETHING kept me from getting it and I couldn't figure out what. Guess it was the lack of purple. Either that or it looked like Galvatron but was called Megatron.

Same here. I'm usually a Gen1 purist and despise everything (except the re-issues). But with the badass Alternator/Binaltech line which came out last year, it's really hard to resist. If you think about it, the Alternator/Binaltech line is really the Gen1 line, upgraded, made for us picky Gen1 fans, with some homages (heads) to the Gen1 line.
And yeah, there are some nice ones in those crappy lines every so often. Which ones did I buy? R.I.D. Megabolt Megatron (green and red), Destruction Scourge, plain Scourge, Armada Scourge (TV Magazine version), and Superlink's Wheeljack, Rodimus Convoy (Rodimus in Energon), Arcee, and Energon Galvatron.

Here's how Binaltech ties into G1. Found this on the 2005 boards. Lots and lots of fan wank material. Enjoy.
In the year 2003, over a decade after the end of season 2 of the G1 cartoon, humans and Autobots have formed an alliance. The Earth Defense Command (EDC, from G1 season 3) has been formed, construction of Autobot City ("Cybertron City" in Japan; first seen in TF:TM) has begun, humans are about to make their first steps into outer space, starting with a colony on the moon (the Lunar Colony was originally mentioned in the G1 season 3 episode "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2"; in the original script of that episode, there was a line that was cut from the final episode which established the colony as having existed since 1997).
Meanwhile, Megatron had launched an all-out war on Cybertron, and many Autobot warriors had left the Earth in order to prevent him from taking over their home planet. However, some Autobots, led by Ultra Magnus, decided to stay back on Earth in order to protect the planet and Autobot City.
All of a sudden, the Combaticon Swindle unleashed a modified version of the Cosmic Rust (from the G1 season 2 episode "Cosmic Rust") on the Autobots. While a few of them, including Jazz (Meister) and Ultra Magnus, were spared from the effects of the virus, most of the Earth-bound Autobots, among them Smokescreen, Hound, Tracks, Sideswipe (Lambor/Side Swipe), Bluestreak (Streak/Silverstreak), Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker, were damaged beyond repair.
In order to counter the new Decepticon threat, the EDC launched an emergency plan and initiated the long-planned project "Binaltech". Supervised by the Autobots' mother computer Teletraan-1 (from G1 season 1 and 2), car manufacturers and research facilities around the world started to build new bodies for the fallen Autobot warriors that combined the latest of Earth's and Cybertron's technologies. The Autobots' primary power sources are electro-cells (originally introduced in the G1 season 2 episode "Traitor").
The first Autobot to be rebuilt in a new Binaltech body was Bluestreak, but due to some problems with an unstable personality, the EDC Inspection Bureau had him undergo a variety of tests until they gave him clearance to return to active duty. Next up were: Smokescreen, in a new body built by Fuji Heavy Industries, Inc. and STi (Subaru Tecnica International); Sideswipe, in a new body built by the Daimler-Chrysler Corporation's PVO-Team (Performance Vehicle Operations), whose main operating computer is a "TORQ 3000" quantum processor developed by Quantum Laboratories (from the G1 season 2 episode "Day of the Machines", where they created the super-computer TORQ III); Hound, who totally loves his new body built by Daimler-Chrysler and Hybrid Technologies Corporation ("High Technology Corporation" in Japan; Astoria's company from the G1 season 2 episode "The Girl Who Loved Powerglide") and views it as the first step towards his goal of becoming human himself one day; and Tracks, in a new body built by General Motors and DuPont (GM's former parent company), which now provides him with the ability to change his body color from yellow to blue.
The newly rebuilt Binaltech Autobots were able to repel the Decepticon attack, severely damage some of them and eventually drive them off the planet. In the meantime, however, an evil underground organization, calling itself the "Concurrence", was formed. With prominent members such as Count von Rani (aka Iron Klaw from "G.I. Joe Extreme") and General Garrison Kreiger (aka General Blitz from "Sgt. Savage and his Screaming Eagles") and financially backed up by Lord Chumley (from the G1 season 2 episode "Prime Target") and Shawn Berger Jr. (from the G1 season 2 two-parter "Megatron's Master Plan"), among others, they sought to put a rift between the human/Autobot alliance.
Shortly afterwards, Starscream, from a secret staging ground, contacted his former ally Dr. Arkeville (from the G1 season 1 three-parter "The Ultimate Doom" and the follow-up episode "Countdown to Extinction"), who was also a member of the Concurrence, and the two of them agreed to form an alliance. Arkeville combined his own "hypnochip" (also from "The Ultimate Doom") with the Insecticon Bombshell's cerebro-shells and thus managed to secretly bring several facilities participating in the Binaltech Project under his control, in order to provide the damaged Decepticon warriors with new bodies as well.
Therefore, while Symultech Industries (originally mentioned in the G1 season 2 episode "Trans-Europe Express") believed they were rebuilding Sunstreaker, they actually built a new body for Dead End, who can no longer combine with the other Stunticons into Menasor in this form and now fears that he might have to revert to his old body some day. Likewise, the body the Central City Institute of Technology (Central City is a fictious city from the G1 season 2 two-parter "Megatron's Master Plan") had intended for Trailbreaker (even including a force field projector ["force barrier emitter" in Japan], which now had to be left offline since it was never finished) ended up as the new body of Swindle, who had managed to put himself on top of the waiting list of Decepticons to receive a Binaltech upgrade, even though other Decepticons were more severely damaged, and now can't merge with the other Combaticons into Bruticus anymore either.
Since the EDC deleted the registration for the BT units the Decepticons had acquired, they couldn't access electro-cell recharge facilities anymore (the "recharge facilities" refer to the recharging chambers from the G1 season 2 episode "Attack of the Autobots"), thus they used stabilized "exponential generators" (Dr. Arkeville's invention from "Countdown to Extinction") as their new primary power sources instead.
In order to counter the threat posed by the Decepticons' infiltration of the project and their acquisition of the Binaltech technology, the Autobots and the EDC quickly launched a number of counteroffensives:
The first of them was a sub-project, initiated by the EDC's Advanced Technologies Development Bureau, named "Genetronic Translink" (GT), headed by the Autobots' old associate Chip Chase (from G1 season 1 and 2). In order to enable a single Autobot to control several Binaltech bodies at once, the GT technology involved an Autobots' "laser core" (first mentioned in the G1 season 1 episode "Divide and Conquer"; first seen in the G1 season 2 episode "Starscream's Brigade"), which is the basis of his personality, being stored in "subspace" (a popular concept among fans used to explain various aspects of Transformers technology) and from there controlling the individual robot units via "Translink ports". The first Autobot to test the new technology was Smokescreen, who, now as Smokescreen GT, can operate up to four robot bodies at once, although this amount of active units is saved as a last resort for criticial situations.
The second Autobot to use the GT technology was Jazz, who had originally not been affected by the Cosmic Rust. Regardless, he agreed to have his brain transferred into a new body (built by the Mazda Corporation) anyways in order to carry out secret operations. Using the GT technology, Jazz can also remote-control a red duplicate of himself he nicknamed "Zoom-Zoom". Zoom-Zoom isn't a fully sentient individual yet, but Jazz has already started to give him dancing lessons whenever time permits. Jazz himself, in turn, participated in a secret investigation code-named "Operation: Carwash", intended to uncover the extent of the Decepticons' infiltration of the Binaltech Project.
Meanwhile, the EDC's top agent, Dashiell R. Faireborn (better known as Flint from "G.I. Joe", now also the father to EDC agent Marissa Faireborn from G1 season 3), infiltrated the Concurrence's secret headquarters in the Lunar Colony and found out the truth about the Concurrence's agenda, the involvement of von Rani, Kreiger, Chumley and Berger, and also about Arkeville's brainwashing activities. After confirming that no member of the BT project was actually working for the Concurrence, he managed to send out a message to Ultra Magnus in Autobot City, advising him to find a way to neutralize the effects of the brainwashing. After finishing his transmission, Faireborn was forced to flee in order not to get caught by the enemy. His fate is still unclear at this point.
At the same time, on Cybertron, the war between Optimus Prime's Autobots and Megatron's Decepticons was in full force when the Decepticons used some primitive telepathic aliens known as the "Unleasher" (NOT a G1 or other obscure reference - Hirofumi Ichikawa confirmed they are entirely his own creation) in order to launch a psychic attack on the Autobots. The attack affected all "Primitives" (first identified as such in the G1 season 3 episode "Call of the Primitives") and turned the Dinobots into rampaging savages.
After the Autobots had found themselves forced to take their comrades out of commission, Grimlock regained consciousness and agreed to do anything in order to be able to return to the battlefield. Thus, Wheeljack rushed off to Earth and had Grimlock's brain being transferred into a new body (built by the Ford Company's Specialized Car Development Team) that combined all the improvements of the previous Binaltech bodies, thus making him the "ultimate" Binaltech warrior. Even though Grimlock hated his new body from the first minute and took it out on the Ford developers even while still being rebuilt, he decided to make the best of his situation and to continue fighting alongside his fellow Autobots.

Well, I just found one Energon Galvatron at my local Walmart. Yipee!
Lucky too, he was the only one there.
By the way, does anyone visit Fred's The Complete American Variants Page! (http://www.geocities.com/futuristgroup/vquanda.html)? He's got lots of details on variants. Like Shoppertron, it's very helpful.
The latest entry? Reissue Predaking (http://www.geocities.com/futuristgroup/vreissuepredacons.html).

This has got to be the best looking Starscream to date. Better than the Gen 1 version in my opinion. It's the new figure from Galaxy Force.

I might have to pick up Thundercracker (http://tfkenkon.com/collection/act296/) as well. Some may be bothered by his arm gun though. Wonder if that's detachable?
