Two pages in and Luke Cage/Spider-Woman come across as... err... not themselves.

They don't even seem to care to learn who MJ and Aunt May are even after we saw them get introduced in Amazing and we know May and MJ are there alot as they live there. Laughing over the fact the affair rumour could be true?

A month of Hudlin. Bah!

I don't know how to use spoilers with this board, so bear with me, please.

The end of the preview there mentions:
(Spoiler of the preview:)
there being ONE radiation-based mutation expert

My theories:
I'm thinking Dr. Octopus, and since he's on the variant cover...? Dunno bout the pumpkin bombs tho, thats sort of out there.

If he's not a complete nutcase (I don't follow his character any) how about Dr. Bruce Banner? Seems like he got a nice dosage himself.

So Hudlin would have Cage cheat on the mother of his child? Doesn't sound like the guy who's supposedly biased against anyone who ISN'T black...

Its the Hulk that they are talking about.

If the doc in FNSM #1 turns out to be Dmitri, I'm gonna flip! :D

That's really bad stuff there. Hudlin doesn't understand Luke Cage and Spider-Woman it seems.

That's okay. When you're a hack... erm, high-paid big-name Hollywood writer like Hudlin, you don't need to understand anything about the characters you're writing about.

Luke Cage goes from an Avenger to security. And from the dialog, it seems Cage doesn't know who Spider-Woman is. Nice one Hudlin.

Hudlin is no Hollywood writer. He runs one of the worst cable channels there is, BET.

The BET thing is recent. He has been a Hollywood director for years. The main thing that concerned me in ther preview was the fact that Spider-Woman and Cage suddenly don't know who Aunt May and Mary Jane are, when they've been interacting with them for months now in Amazing Spider-Man.

As stupid as that scene was, those two particular gripes aren't valid. Cage WAS a bodyguard, and quite possibly still is (he's doubtlessly not at the tower 24/7). And just because he calls Jess "lady" doesn't mean he doesn't know who she is. It's like calling someone "dude".

But besides that, they were still wildly out of character.

Yeah, I agree. It sounded like they were just being chummy, but they were still crazy out of character.

Was Black Panther on the cover? Why?

It looks like Peter will be scouring the big brains of the MU in order to gather information on his condition. I don't believe biology is T'Challa's expertise, but whatever, it makes about as much sense as saying there's only "one true" radiation expert in the MU (I've come up with four or five candidates for that title off the top of my head).

Thank God I've decided to pass on the rest of The Other. If Straz hit's a home run ending, maybe I'll hunt for the back issues, but there are way better comics out there that deserve my money than this stuff.

I obviously can't speak to the JMS part of the crossover, but not buying Hudlin's books is always recommended. ;) We gotta vote with our wallets.

Seriously, we all got to. I want to read Spidey because I love him so much, but I'm not going to read a bad story just because it's Spidey. But hey, I'm preachin to the choir. :) I was really pumped about the FNSM book, but this crossover will keep me off of it for a while.

The story has been good so far. It just wouldn't make sense not to buy the middle part with Hudlin, PAD is good, JMS is good and I don't want to miss anything so I'll get all of it.

geez it's not that bad

yeah it's kinda stupid that Jess doesn't know who May and Luke speculating about MJ & Tony having an affair.

I got bored with Hudlin's BP after about issue 3 and didn't buy it again till HoM stuff (started reading again because of gratuitous guest stars). However I didn't think his MK:SM sucked, so I not that bothered by his part of "The Other".

sure Hudlin is a big baby if he can't take criticism over his writing faults, just as well he didn't come up with the Sins Past storyline (imagine the flak then)

I'm with Jam on this one...

Yes, Hudlin's writing is sub-par. But I think its a neccessary evil in order to fully enjoy the whole Other story. So I'll dish out the cash for the three books.

The one issue that I truly dread is part 5 (MK 20).... Hudlin = Bad Writing, Pat Lee = Horrible Art.

Hulind + Pat Lee = Catastrophy....

Oh, And I think they were talking about Bruce at the end....

See, what I like about that is how far they're going to make me NOT buy the book. It's like taking something that's bad for you, like cigarettes, and then making it fattening on top of that. :)

I actually much MUCH prefer Pat Lee over Billy Tan who draws Spidey's eyes really off. It drives me nuts.

His work in MK Spiderman was solid and I thought he was getting better. That being said Reggie is already messing up characters and basic continuity with this preview which doesn't surprise me but hopefully the book will fare better as it goes on.
