Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

If there was a thread on this earlier, I didn't see it.

Anyways, as a fan of the SRPG genre, and of the Fire Emblem series itself, I thought I would start a thread about the newest game in the series, as well as the first in its series to be in 3-D--for that matter, the first in the series to be on a console since the SNES days.

Now, most people in the US have only had the ability to play the last two games, which were on the GBA. Still, anyone who has played either of those two games knows what Fire Emblem is about.

So what did you guys think of this new one. I'm liking it a lot so far and the plot gets more interesting as it goes on. I'm on Chapter 20 right now (the one with the floodgates). All of my characters are promoted right now (well the ones I use anyway).

The commercials have got me wanting to play this, even though I haven't heard of the Fire Emblem series before.

Do I have to know anything about the series before playing this new installment, or does it reinvent itself each time like Final Fantasy?

I SO want to get this game, but I haven't even tasted Fire Emblem yet. I'm thinking I should start with the GBA ones.

Some of the NES/SNES versions in Japan followed each other...but Path of Radiance is a new story all together. So if you get it, you won't be lost. It's kinda like Final Fantasy Tactics in that you have a grid map and can only move a certain amount of spaces and so on. But it is MUCH better that tactics...Though...I thouroughly liked Tactics :D

My son normally doesnt play RPG games, but wanted this for Christmas for some reason, so we got this and the new Pokemon game. Plus we got a $10 gift card from Best Buy, so we may get him a new controller too...

I think i might like 'em too :D

I beat the game. FYI, if you're playing the game on Normal difficulty, you have to go back and play the game through on Hard mode in order to play the REAL final boss. He transforms into a second form on Hard mode.

Good game all around. I'm a little miffed at the fact that the last boss is so powerful that only like 3-4 characters are able to hurt him, but other than that it was good all around. The game is setup to have possible sequels, which would be interesting if they decided to make a game that actually connected or otherwise followed up on this one.

I've beaten it on easy and working on Normal. You mean ASHNARD TRANSFORMS!!!! :eek: DUDE!!!! It was enough the first time. I had to hit him with Ike. Then have Rhys or Elencia(sp) use the long range heal staff then hit him again...As well as Tibarn giving him a good hit too. Those are the only 2 people I know that can actually damage him o.O Also...Does he actually move from that god forsaken spot on normal or hard or does he just sit there like a lump on a log like on easy. And I agree...It would be awesome if they did a follow up game to this.

My son got this, Pokemon (the one with Dark Lugia on the cover), Mario Party 7 and the Shadow Hedgehog game. He's been playing this and MLB 2005 a lot.

Ahh...Pokemon X/D Gale of Darkness. I tried that one...Seems ok to me. I haven't tried Mario Party 7 yet and I want to play Shadow the Hedgehog. I loved Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 so Shadow should be good too. Are you playing on Easy, Normal, or Hard??

I've got 5 or 6 characters maxed out right now.

I'm not a huge gamer so I was going to skip this one because of Twilight Princess. But now that has been set back and I'm almost done with my other games I think I'll check it out. Love both GBA games.
