Hey there folks: I used to draw and sketch and doodle ALL the time. In high school I drew comics and cartoons and sold them to friends. Well, the older I've gotten, the less I've done. I am a professional illustrator, but when it comes to doing comic book or strip stories, I've lost the urge, yet I miss HAVING the urge so much. Not sure if that makes any sense...

I just read the complete Bone collection, and felt a huge wave of regret that I haven't been creating anything.

The few times I've tried again, I don't know where to start or what I should make a comic about.

I partly blame too many video games, which eat up a lot of time and probably suck away a lot of imagination.

I'm thinking of selling my game systems and getting back into it, regardless of whether I feel like it or not. My hope is the spark will come back.

Any suggestions from you fine folks? I don't mind learning some "Imagination Sparking" disciplines. MANY thanks in advance.

Illustrating a children's book made me go back to doing my own creative thing. But i guess if you are an illustrator already. I guess your just doing stuff thats similar to what you'd do for fun... Change it up a little, then doing your own thing will be refreshing

Hey, Trusty! Welcome back!

Hey! Nice to be remembered. I know this sounds horrible and senile, but what forum did we talk in? I can't keep all my old CBR buddies straight I remember your name, but not the conversations:( I feel bad even asking:(

Actually, I'm not doing stuff that's REALLY fun at work. I enjoy it, but I wish when I had free time I had stories to tell and comics I wanted to write and draw. I guess I'm trying to get the urge back. I feel like I let it die, and I hope it's not too late to bring it back. Is it wrong to have to force something like that back? Maybe I should just WANT to draw. Most of the time I want to play video games, but that new really satisfies. I want to do what God made me to do, and I don't think that's playing Xbox with all my free time. Just looking for some advice on how to fan the creative flames:)

I can't remember what about, I'm senile.

But, ya know, it HAS been a while.

I think you've already hit the nail on the head. It was reading Bone that even gave you the hint of an idea at getting back into comics. Keep reading books as good as Bone, and I imagine you'll get inspired.
