OUTSIDERS #30 $2.50
Return of the Fearsome Five. I just can't seem to drop this book. How is it that each bad arc is followed up with issues that hold my interest? I do like the new art team of Matthew Clark & Art Thibert.
WILDSIDERZ #2 (OF 5) $3.50
Is this book late? I feel I'm gonna get burned by JSC again!
MARVEL
HOUSE OF M #8 (OF 8) $2.99
Still need to read #7.
MARVEL TEAM-UP #14 $2.99
Invincible!
SPIDER-MAN HOUSE OF M #5 (OF 5) $2.99
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #85 $2.50
Still the undisputed best Spidey book on the stands. I've really liked the Warriors arc.
Forgot to pick up Young Avengers #8 last week, so that needs to go on the list again.

Buying:
CONAN & THE DEMONS OF KHITAI #2 (OF 4)
STAR WARS X-WING ROGUE LEADER #2 (OF 3)
*Sigh* I never thought there would be a downside to comics shipping EARLY: The last few issues of Rurouni Kenshin shipped a few weeks earlier than they were supposed to. Now the current issue has been delayed! Right at climactic part of the story too! ARGH!

Be sure to read Rich Johnston's column this week for the scoop.
Yes, JSC is flaking again. He makes fancy excuses for it, but in the end it's all the same -- he's incapable of producing the book in a timely manner. His excuses sound like they were borrowed from Rob Liefeld's Excuse Book, too. It's sad, really.

Thanks - sounds like it's going to take 6 years to publish a 5 issue bi-monthly series!
Wasn't part of the reason that DC signed him to an exclusive back in 2003 was that he'd have enough lead time to get all issues in the can before release? It's so disappointing.

ALIAS ENTERPRISES LLC
Opposite Forces Vol 2 #3 (Of 4), $2.99
I like the book, but I never saw #1 or #2 of this series on the stands. Hopefully, he'll package it all up into a trade somewhere along the line. Or, perhaps, I'll run into him at a convention and pick the issues up then.
DC COMICS
Catwoman When In Rome HC, $19.99
Originals SC, $17.99
CATWOMAN is a definite "yes." ORIGINALS is iffy. I would like to be able to say I read it, but I'm not certain I'm all that excited for it. I think I'll skip it.
DEMENTIAN COMICS
Nothing Better #1, $2.95
I've already reviewed this one for you in Pipeline. It's a great book. Go get it.
GEMSTONE PUBLISHING
Donald Duck And Uncle Scrooge Vol 1 Somewhere In Nowhere TPB, $6.95
Flip test, but likely not a buy.
MARVEL COMICS
Essential Marvel Two In One Vol 1 TPB, $16.99
Excalibur Classic Vol 1 The Sword Is Drawn TPB, $19.99
House Of M #8 (Of 8), $2.99
Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #9, $2.50
Marvel Team-Up #14, $2.99
Powers #14, $2.95
Ultimate Spider-Man #85, $2.50
Young Avengers Vol 1 Sidekicks HC, $19.99
Lots of interesting stuff in there, particularly the first YOUNG AVENGERS HC and the new issue of POWERS. But how can you go wrong with classic Chris Claremont/Alan Davis EXCALIBUR? That has to be the book of the week.
ESSENTIAL MARVEL TWO IN ONE is a lot iffier. I don't have the time to read it, so why buy it? I'll flip through it to see if I'm inspired.
Oh, and HOUSE OF M finally wraps up. Yay.

Augie: Let us know if the Catwoman book has any extras or if they give full pages to the covers. I bought the issues because I loved the covers too much!
And the Originals was a pretty cool book. I got the HC a while ago.

JONAH HEX #1 $2.99
Picking up the first issue because I LOVE the Palmiotti/Gray writing team, but I'm not entirely sure if the Jonah Hex character is "for me." So I'll see how I like it and maybe wait for a trade (although, these are scheduled to be self-contained issues, so I dunno...)
OUTSIDERS #30 $2.50
Yaay! Winick! Last ish was cool. I like Winick's villains. Sabbac is cool. In a really evil sort of way.
INVINCIBLE VOL 5 FACTS OF LIFE TP $14.99
Yaay! Finally! I'm VERY looking forward to this!!! GREAT book!
HOUSE OF M #8 (OF 8) $2.99
EEEEE!!! BENDIS!!! It concludes!!! Such a phenominal mini-series (for me, anyway). So full of emotion and character... that's my kind of event!
MARVEL TEAM-UP #14 $2.99
Wowzies!!! A very special Team Up issue featuring the first meeting of Spider-Man and Invincible by Invincible's original creative team of Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker!! Yaaay! So cool!
NIGHTCRAWLER #11 $2.99
The conclusion of "The Winding Way!" Also the penultimate issue, I believe.
POWERS #14 (MR) $2.95
More Bendis!! Part 2 of "Cosmic."
SENTINEL #1 (OF 5) $2.99
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! SENTINEL'S BACK!!!! The book I once dubbed "My NEW Ultimate Spider-Man" returns for 5 more issues of Tracie Bliss!!!
SPIDER-MAN HOUSE OF M #5 (OF 5) $2.99
The conclusion of this fascinating story by Mark Waid & Tom Peyer.
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #85 $2.50
EVEN MORE BENDIS!!!! My favorite comic in the whole wide world keeps on chugging!!!
YOUNG AVENGERS VOL 1 SIDEKICKS HC $19.99
I want to read this book SO BAD, but I was waiting for a softcover... but having yet to even see one solicited, I dunno if I should have or not. $20 isn't bad (and I get 10% off).
LULLABY #1 $2.99
Lullaby returns as an ongoing series!!! The art in this book is SO GORGEOUS and the new anime/video game inspired spins on classic fairy tail characters are really fascinating.
TOP SHELF CONVERSATIONS #2 $4.95
James Kochalka returns to his delightful "jam comic" to have a sequential "conversation" with artist Jeffery Brown. Such a brilliant idea... both artists swap pages to counter eachothers drawings while at the same time discussing life, the universe and everything inbetween.

Small week.
Which is good, because last week I really blew the comics budget. :)
Jonah Hex #1 - I like westerns, and the preview art from Luke Ross looks great, so I'm gonna check this out. Plus, I love the Quitley cover.
Blood of the Demon #9
Seven Soldiers: Bulleteer #1
House of M #8
Thor Blood oath #4 - Scott Kollins drawing Thor? I'm there!
Spider-man Unlimited #12 - I normally dont buy this, but I liked Christos Gage's Deadshot , and I'm a big Sean Phillips fan, so there you go.
I also would really like to buy Batman: County Line, but at 6 dollars an issue it seems just too pricey. It's tough to rationalize that unless its double sized, and I dont think it is.

Happydance! Rurouni Kenshin #20 shipped early (ie on time?) again this week! So I picked it up along with my other stuff.
And as usual, despite the fact that I already know whats going to happen because I have been spoiled by the OVAs, this book still managed to surprise me and left me screaming for more at the end. It was so nice I read it twice the instant I got home from the comic shop, and I can't remember me ever doing that with another comic series. Here's to hoping the next issue arrives early (on time) too :)

QUESTION FOR FOLKS WHO READ INVINCIBLE MONTHLY:
So Marvel Team-Up and Invincible Vol. 5 both came out today. Through flipping I happened to notice that the end of Marvel Team-Up, it states "Invincible's story continues in INVINCIBLE #33" which causes me quite a bit of worry since the Vol. 5 trade only collects up to #24! Is Marvel Team-Up going to ruin anything for me?? (I would hate to have to wait until the next trade to read this)
Also, I'm a bit perplexed since... didn't #26 just ship?

Week of November 2, 2005:
Blood of the Demon # 9
House of M # 8 (of 8)
Powers # 14
Superman # 223
The price on Powers # 14 is a misprint. It should be $2.95 instead of $3.95. If you don't want to overpay, maybe try asking them to verify what they paid for it. I didn't think of that at the time.

Also, while I'm thinking about it: Tyler Page's NOTHING BETTER #1 hits store shelves this week. I've read and reviewed the first three issues already for you. It's a great comic set amongst freshmen in college. Cartoony style, but with some serious themes.

Spider-Girl #92

No EXCALIBUR trade, Tracie? =(
...I'm sorry? ~_~;
I never really got into the idea of Excalibur as a team (except for Ellis' run... and that wasn't until he had all but completed his run that I realized "Hey, this book is really good!").
Though to be fair, I've never read any of the original Clairmont stuff, except for the Mojo graphic novel that Art Adams drew.
I think I'd only read a few issues of the stuff prior to Ellis' run and it just sort of soured me on the team.
It's probably something I could talk myself into picking up later on, or if I saw it on a sale, but I wasn't really looking to add it to my rediculously long list of books that're sitting in my room waiting to be read.

OK, you're forgiven. Besides, I discovered something horrible in my massive cleanup project today: I can control the long boxes and short boxes of monthly comics. It's the trades that have grown out of control and are impossible to store, display, and organize in any coherent fashion. So you caught me on a good day -- I can understand not wanting to buy Even More Stuff today more than ever.

I got two comics yesterday at the shop:
Marvel Team #14-Spiderman!! Invincible!! What a cool team-up! The Spidey and Invincible interaction in this is very cool! Lots of funny dialogue (plenty of Spidey wisecracks). If Kirkman's Spidey is like this all the time, then I really need to start reading Marvel Teamup (this was my first issue of the book). The issue did, however, spoil some Invincible events for this non-regular issue reading person (haven't read Vol. 5 yet either). Oh well. I got spoiled when I read #0 too. lol. Oh well! I'm still looking forward to reading the Vol. 5 Invincible TPB alot. I couldn't afford it this time, but later in the month I'll get it (comic shop is supposed to hold a copy for me).
Ultimate Spiderman #85-Warriors comes to an end. There are some shocking moments here and also: poor Peter. Sheesh. First the thing with the window & car, then the thing with Black Cat and then that bit at the end of the issue! Man. Peter just has no luck at all! Looking forward to the next issue! Its going to be cool to see Silver Sable! I did like Warriors, but I'm looking forward to a new arc! :)
And thats it! Two Spiderman issues! I'm very happy. :)

I think I have more trades stacked on the floor than I do on shelves. It's getting fairly obscene. The stack of Essentials alone has gotta be 3 feet high!
Augie De Blieck Jr.

And the worst part of all the trades -- from a storage point of view -- is that they're all different sizes, making boxing them up efficiently a real pain in the buttinsky. Manga volumes are nice filler material, but everything else is a real grab bag.
But the real problem is that I don't want to box up and pack away the stuff I haven't read yet. I may need to do a Short Box Chronicles exclusively for trades. Maybe 2005 is the year Pipeline does nothing but review trade paperbacks that are piling up on my bookshelves.

You mean 2006? Sure, go for it! Mix up some new trades with ones sitting in your unread pile!
I read all of the trades I get, except for the Essentials, within a few weeks of getting them (with the exception of stuff like Samauri Executioner where I wait for a few to arrive). I do read the Ess.'s, or I will, but if I tried to polish of all of those I either wouldn't read anything else or wouldn't have time for sleep!

MTU #14 was great. It's been a while since I laughed out loud at a non-Giffen/DeMatteis book! I loved how Invincible didn't know anything about the Marvel Universe. To me, this was totally unexpected - I thought that with Mark Grayson being a comic dork, meeting Spidey would be a "Wow! I can't believe I'm meeting Peter Parker!" moments. Instead we get a funny bit with Robot-man, Claw-man, Flag-man, Batwoman and Black-man. Too, too funny.
USM#85 was awesome as well. Best story arc in a long time. It's really gonna suck if there comes a day when Bendis & Bags are no longer the regular creative on this book.
