i just read SiP #77 last night and came across a shocker in the letters page. terry said that the title will end sometime in 2007.
is this for real? i don't read the letters page every issue (too many books to read!) so if he's said this before, i haven't read about it.
so...it is really true??? we all knew that SiP would eventually end, but i just didn't think it would be so soon.

I heard this before. LitG? IIRC around 18 issues to go.
And finally SiP comes to an end. The series should've ended like 50 issues ago.
I love the series, the characters, the interaction, Terry's narration style, the art etc. BUT it was only a repetition for the last 50+ issues and so I'm glad it will soon be over.
I'm looking forward for what he has in mind after SiP and maybe, when he has something new to tell, he may re-visit the world of SiP.
as a on-off-on (currently on) again reader, I too was kinda shocked and saddened by the news. It is a point of view that will be missed by those looking for good variety in their comic books.

It was first announced in the letters column of issue #76, in which Terry stated that he had already scripted the final issue and that there would be about two more tpbs worth of issues to come out, bringing the series to a close likely late next year.

I agree. SiP was great in its heyday, but it's been dragging on far too long.
I stopped reading the book a while ago, but I might have to check out the last few issues. I wonder if it will ever tie back to the older Francine and Katchoo who appeared in the first few issues of Vol. 3, or if that will be retconned into another lame dream/fantasy sequence.

The official word from Terry is that the book will be concluding with either issue 89 or 90 in May 2007 or so.

Yeah, I heard this news and was disappointed. But all good things must come to an end. I'd rather him end it on his own terms and plan for it than it just happen.
