Just how the hell can something like this happen? Especially what with all the hee-haw and brew-ha-ha about Avian flue going around!
I hope heads will roll for this. Somebody'll surely lose their liscence to practice medicine!

Disgusting. It's not related but it's bad PR to have it announced that your company has posted its greatest profit margin ever and yet still screws over its employees.

But it saves money for the company, so some would no doubt think it is okay.

Okay, to be fair, there's no evidence stated in the article that authorities believe Exxon/Mobil in any way colluded with or had knowledge of this doctor providing fake shots. Much as I dislike oil companies in general, I'll wait to tar and feather them until such time as evidence is brought forth for that.
The article also doesn't say why the company switched from having it's own medical practitioners administering the vaccine to hiring a contractor doctor to provide them... cost might well be a factor, but if so, I'll bet it's from insurance costs or changing health plan limits... something like that.
At any rate, the DOCTOR involved is certainly culpable, unless he/she in turn was the victim of some kind of switch made by the distributor or manufacturer.

I'm curious as to how they found out about this... Sounds like it's happened a few times before from either the same doctor or the distributor of the vaccines and thus garnered the attention of the authorities. People getting the flu after a flu shot is not unheard of...especially considering how many different strains of influenza are actually circulating around the general public.

Maybe it was the medical guy's fualt? The company need not be blamed unless the directors/management are implicated.

Still comes down to profiteering, only then it would be on the part of the medical guy.
