A night of evil doings, in today's Hutch University!

How widespread is mischief night? It's always been a big deal in the Philly area but I get the impression it's not a nationwide thing.

For whatever it's worth, I've never heard of it. I've lived in the Southwest corner of the U.S.A. most of my life.

We had Devil's Night in Detroit. Where people would burn down abandoned buildings. Good Times.

Wasn't that just any time the Pistons made the playoffs, though?

We didn't have a particualr night, per se. It was always just a mutually agreed upon one.

Our big things were soaping and "corning".

The former is where you rub bars of soap over folk's windows, making them opaque, and the latter is where you get field corn and shuck it and hurl handsfull of the kernels at passing cars from concealed places by the road.

I used to go out all the time, but one Mischief night, my mom caught me, and made me eat 9 DOZEN eggs, all at one sitting, and then she locked me in the bathroom with 15 rolls of toilet paper, and then she made me paint my dad's car... I never did mischief night again.

That's a recent addition. I don't recall much rioting back in the late 80s.

. . . my mom caught me, and made me eat 9 DOZEN eggs, all at one sitting, . . .

Why you got to go and say a hundred and eight eggs for? Why not thirty-five or thirty-nine?

Dammit. I guess Hutch University has shown its regional bias.

I had no idea Mischief Night was not a nationally celebrated event of mayhem.
