View Full Version : BOO! A Scary Citizen of the Month!

Sir Tim Drake
10-28-2005, 07:47 AM
The month of October has drawn to a close, and it's now time to select the ghost, excuse me, the poster, who has contributed most this month to the CBR graveyard, I mean community.

The six previous victims, I mean winners, of this award are:

April 2005: west3man
May 2005: Morts
June 2005: Slam Bradley
July 2005: Rallura
August 2005: i_mmmchocolate
September 2005: K'Nort

Like the tortured existence of a vampire, the COTM election has certain rules, and they are:

1. Select the CBR citizen who, over the course of the past month, has consistently conducted himself/herself in a manner that has helped to foster a friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the CBR Forums. This poster is being recognized for being friendly, courteous, and helpful. REMEMBER: COTM is *not* a popularity contest; it is a recognition for being an exemplary member of the community.

2. Your COTM nominee *must* be a registered CBR Forums member with a track record of no fewer than ten posts (at least one of which must have been posted during the month of the COTM in question) at the time that this thread is posted. Votes for non-registered individuals; members without the requisite track record at time of voting; or members who are permanently banned will not be counted.

3. You may submit *one* vote for your chosen nominee. Fractional votes or votes for more than one nominee are not allowed, and such votes will be disregarded. Those who cast such votes will be tormented by banshees.

4. All votes must be for individual posters only. Votes for couples or larger groups will not be counted.

5. Please be clear and explicit about whom you are voting for. Vague words of praise that are not explicitly indicated as votes will not be construed as votes. Moreover, clearly identify who your nominee is by using only the nominee's complete, current, official CBR username as it appears on his/her profile. No nicknames or abbreviations please.

6. All questions and comments about COTM should be directed to me (Sir Tim Drake) at Sir_Tim_Drake@yahoo.com. Alternately, send me a PM. Community Forum Moderator Brian Cronin will neither answer questions about nor handle administration of the COTM election process. He is too busy being possessed by a demon.

7. Avoid thread drift. Indicate your choice for COTM and a few quick comments about your choice in the *same post*. Any other discussion needs to be taken up in a separate thread. Those who clutter this thread with drifting, directionless posts will be rewarded with a drifting, directionless afterlife.

8. This election will be open until midnight Eastern time on Monday, October 31st, at which time the ghosts of all the banned posters will return to haunt us. After that time no further votes will be counted.

Fear, I mean, enjoy the election!

I want to vote for all the Allens and family, for putting up with a tidal flood of geekitude, and to Rin and Tadhg for inviting us.

But since I can only vote for one, I have to give it to Solaris for simply perservering.

Okay, this time I'm gonna go with a personal event (which I rarely do, humor me please):

Honorable mention to every CBRian who attended the wedding (often after great difficulties), to Tadhg and Rin for grace under stress, and especially to Greg for his sanity and to Fly for delighting me no end by *being* there... but my vote goes to

Julie Hatcher

for being sweet, fun, helpful, stress-relieving, and one half of the "great houseguest" duo.

Converge
10-28-2005, 08:09 AM
I vote for Converge. For pure awesomeness.

Joe Rice

Tom

He's had a helluva month: great debating on the one hand and some very funny stuff on the other.

EDIT: Looks like Mr. Rice and I are sharing a brain this month.

This month was hard with posters being all over the place but I have to go with Hawk

I vote for Dreadstar.

He's easily one of my favorite posters on here and I love reading what he has to say. Plus, those pics he shared on the Wedding thread were great.

Snow Sabre

She posted a picture of herself in a bathing suit on CBR. That takes guts. Plus she's cool and she keeps posting cute baby pictures.

And it's her time, darnit!

Well... I'm torn between a couple of picks, so I'll go for the guy I didn't vote for last month. I'll slam down a pick for Dreadstar.

Also, honourable mentions for Solaris and the happy couple!

I have to go with J Dog. I don't really like him, but he deserves something after the current Avatar of the Week contest.

I haven't been around much, but I liked this post by Joe Rice.

I've got no pride in any of the handful of ethnicities that make up my "heritage." But, as a member of the dominant socio-political race, that's pretty easy to say. I do wish we'd get rid of this individualistic self-absorbtion and its extended chauvanistic cousin of "group-absorbtion," as I don't really think it helps out the whole very much either way. When I think of "my people" I think of all of them.
So, my vote goes to Dreadstar. I don't vote for losers!

I have to vote for Solaris. She's always been a great person and helped me when I needed it. She's always honest and with the recent wedding not only her but the entire family did wonderfull with all the pressures.

Honerable mention goes for Julie Hatcher also because she was so sweet and wonderfull when I met her.

Quite frankly, I don't understand why either.

Greg Hatcher

Dreadstar. For his wholly unexpected generosity at the Vortex, and for being easily the best sport of any of us about the whole poofy-shirt thing.

...and, oh yeah, being a fun poster and allathat.

I'm voting for J-Dog, for going from a somewhat strange hypersensitive force to a somewhat strange force that can now take a joke. ;)

I vote for Boldido, for his refreshing honesty and because he's been an excellent and underrecognized poster for a long time.

Since a couple of other people have already voted for him, I can, depending on my mood, either feel less evil or especially evil in voting for my precious little buddy J-Dog.

Dreadstar. . he's funny, he makes a point, and he's a consistently good poster.

Plus, I think he was the first guy to make me feel welcome here several months ago.
