this thread isn't really about the book itself, yet anyways (feel free to start the discussion if you want though). this is about the ads. i bought this today, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet, i will tomorrow. however, i flipped through it, and saw that all except for 1 ad were either in the back of the book, or between the new story and the backup. that's right, the whole main feature of the book only had one 1-page commercial break.
i've noticed that a lot of people on here have been complaining about the number and placement of ads lately (with good reason). i also read in the last joe friday on newsarama that, when asked about this topic, quesada said something along the lines of some decisive actions will be taken with reguards to ads very soon.
is this is what he was talking about and a sign of things to come i couldn't be more happy.

Yeah, I thought that was odd, too. They can't keep printing the ads like that, however: Advertisers would complain. It's like if TV advertisers just put their ads on for the last 3 hours of the day, from 9-12. No one would watch Tv then.
I don't care how many ads are in a book, as long as a book is good. What bothers me is when there are tons of ads and the book stinks. These Monster comics have been some of the best reads out of Marvel in a good while, and I'd buy them weekly forever if they kept running.

I'm loving the Monster issues as well. Those gorgeous Eric Powell covers don't hurt anything either !
I don't care how many ads are in a comic. The more the better as far as I'm concerned, as it helps (theoretically) to lower the retail sale price of the magazine.
I just flip past them anyway, tho I sometimes do look at them (video games mostly). Who knows ? I might actually buy something I saw and the advertising has thus achieved its intended goal !

after finally reading this, it wasn't that great. the worst of the monster books i've read so far (haven't read where monsters dwell). this one had the best backup story though.

I think there should be MORE ads. Sell more advertising -- lower them cover prices!
Maybe if the ads were as cool as the ones in the 70's and early 80's. BRING BACK THE HOSTESS ADS! SELL THEM SEA MONKEYS!!
