Running late

I'm looking at my list of pre-orders from my mail order purchases this morning, and noticing an awful lot of late late late books. To whit:

* THE MARQUIS: DANCE MACABRE HC. (originally scheduled for June) I think this is an Oni book, collecting Guy Davis' work
* HELLSHOCK: THE DEFINITIVE EDITION (originally scheduled for July) From the folks producing the AMERICAN FLAGG volume through Image
* TRENCHER: THE REST OF THE STUFF (originally scheduled for July) Really, if I had seen the first trade before ordering this, I never would have bothered
* THE FREEBOOTERS (originally scheduled for July) Fantagraphics' BWS compilation -- is actually coming out today!
* SPAWN COLLECTION HC Volume 1 - scheduled for October. Not that late, but I thought I'd add it in here

AMERICAN FLAGG VOL 1 & 2 TP - Ordered in Sept... of 2004

YOSHITAKA AMANO HERO VOL 1 GN #1 - Should be out by Dec. Ordered in Jan 05

LEGENDS FROM DARKWOOD VOL 1 TP (MAR042228) - One of those things I thought I'd just try. I guess DCBS has it on backorder.

HELLSHOCK DEFINITIVE ED VOL 1 TP - Is this going the late route just to match the schedule the series was on when it was coming out? Jeez! Ordered in May.

SAMURAI EXECUTIONER VOL 7 TP - Ordered in May. I wish they would catch up on these!

STRAY BULLETS VOL 3 OTHER PEOPLE 10TH ANN TP - Thery were supposed to put ove of these out every other month. Ordered this in May, not other vol's solicited.

Yeah, we screwed up, then the printer screwed up, then the printer screwed up again, then the printer got kinda screwed when their HC bindery broke. It's been a hellish ordeal worthy of the Marquis. The book is printed (the guts have actually been printed since last June) and should be in Diamond's system today and in stores over the next 2 weeks.

No kidding! 4-5 months between installments of Samurai Executioner is really way too long! especially if they want to try to finish the series by February I mean, we'd need to get one each month from now on for them to catch up and I just don't see that happening.

I just started a thread about this on the DH boards HERE (http://www.darkhorse.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=8220) , so hopefully we'll get an update on the schedule of SI.

Sabrina: Do you read these as they come out? Me, I wait for a few volumes at a time. They are just waaaaaaay to addictive to only be able to read 1 new tpb at a time. :p

SAMURAI EXECUTIONER is one of the series I'm way behind on. I think I've only ever read the first volume. The rest are lined up right next to it on the bookshelf, though. I need to run through those someday, but it's tough when I'm always stopping to read the next BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL. ;-)

And I'll have more to say on that title in the next couple of days. I did read it the other night. . .

Depending on how much comic-reading time I have, I usually read them right when they come out. Then, becuase it IS so many months between installments, I read them again before the next one arrives (ie once it is on the Diamond list as SHIPPING THIS WEEK)

With series like Samurai Executioner it's the only way I have for preventing myself from getting lost. Come to think of it, I do this for alot of the Samurai manga I am reading. I'm reading so many of them that it can be easy to confuse storylines!
