It looks pretty good, but thats really just based of the solicit and cover picture. Is it really good? worth the $18?

I enjoyed it. I'd think your opinion of it will depend if you enjoy this sort of autobiographical comic book. If you enjoy those sorts of comics I'd say its probably worth your $18.

I loved it, and would recommend it. As long as you know it's an autobiographical story that uses Superman as a metaphor, and not some twisted Vertigo take on Superman... The "worth $18" call is a hard one to make without knowing more about your tastes.

I really enjoyed it, the story and the way the art varied depending on what was being said. I got the hardcover for a couple bucks. Had I spent $18, that my skew my opinion some other way.

I've spent more money on books that are much worse. It's really good too, btw.

I thought it was decent enough, but not worthy of the level of praise being thrown at it

I'd recommend it.

It's very good, but it is a quiet, personal story. If the idea of Superman as an icon or symbol interests you as much as him as a character, and you would like an eloquent story about what that symbol very personally means to one writer, then it's definately worth $18.

Seagle and Kristiansen are Vertigo's seminal creative team, in my books. Loved their work on HOUSE OF SECRETS. But IT'S A BIRD... left me cold. I definitely admire the craftsmanship and creativity that went into the book, but the end result felt a little too Afterschool Special-ly to me.

Not bad by any means, just slightly disappointing.

It was alright, but only alright.

For a quiet and introspective comic, the narration just sort-of beats you over the head. And for the watercolour/pencilled look (or whatever you'd call it), Ben Templesmith (among others) do it better.

I hired it out from the library, so it was an ok read, but I would definately not buy it.
