Vote the art

I'm trying to decide on my portfolio and would really love some feed back and opinions. I am gathering together some of my recent art work as samples for a publisher. I have a friend that has given me the hook up in what to send for art submissions for novel covers.

Out of the nine pictures I've included in this post which one is your favorite? Anyone one of then you wouldn't include in a portfolio presentation? Most importantly what can you see as cover art? The winner will most likely go in the front of the portfolio.

I like the photography-based stuff the best, especially for your intended market.

I also think the rendering of the hair in "Desert" is a little weak. And the tower in "Light House" is really obviously computer-generated. I like the composition, but the tower as it's rendered doesn't suit the rest of the image.

I really liked the fence one personally, super cool. Did you do this yourself?

Actualy, the lighthouse is in the original picture. It's a historic one on the Pensacola Naval Air Station, I sent her several shots of it. :)

Maybe if it didn't have that pink stuff at the bottom.

Yes that one was done from scratch in photoshop.

The pink stuff was part of the texture I used to age the lighthouse. All I did was a texture overlay with it. I can go back and improve that by taking out the color.

I have altered both the Lighthouse and Ankh pictures. Ankh I had to take some text out of the grunge brushing I noticed when printing it out on a larger scale. ANd for the Light house I took out the pink stuff in the texture on the lighthouse tower.
