Okay, Now that everyone knows Quicksilver is behind the House of M, does it change your perspective about him? Where you really that shocked to find out he was behind it?

I feel sorry for him.

I wish Bendis and Marvel would've just left him alone, letting Austen have him for X-Men like he wanted would've been more entertaining

I felt that Bendis ruined him. The actions Quicksilver did in HoM felt more what the X-Men Evolution Quicksilver will do instead of the comic version. I also fail to see the logic of a world ruled by mutants will make everyone happy. He must have known that it would make his human friends lives a living hell.

He's been a villain before. A bunch of times. And he's always been a whiney jackass (to varying degrees). And he's always been really weird about his sister.
So . . . the HOUSE OF M thing doesn't particularly bother me.

I've always liked Quicksilver, except for the whole incest vibe, and thought it handled well, he could be a major character in the MU. Too bad the whole House of M has been such a disappointing clusterfu*k.

i think it's really sad. I've never LOVED quicksilver, but i never thought it'd come to this. i've enjoyed his parts in X-Factor and his own series..... unfortunately now it seems he's gonna be ruined....

Why not just give him a clone and be done with it.

Question... when has a character ever been ruined? Can anyone name a character that has been permanenly ruined by a story?

My feeling exactly(although Luna's absence did).
Although he character abuse is getting to be a bit much. Let's see.
1) abusive psyopathic father
2) cheating estranged wive
3) Now crazy sister and House of M.
One to many for me.

I think its in tone with the character. ive always liked quicksilver since he was such a cool prick. despite what he coerced wanda into doing he had the best intentions sure some people got the short end of the stick but not every world can be a utopia.

All Honesty, I give him props for trying to protect his sister from death... being she is the last sibling he has left, with his father disowning him all the time. I think marvel really doesn't tap into his potential with his powers that they should. He is actually a favortie character of mine. House of M has givin him a huge bit of spotlight but I don't know if marvel was trying to make him a villain of magento magnatitude or what. I just hope they don't take away his powers after House of M, I think he is the only mutant with lighting speed in the MU, let alone the only mutant in the MU with powers sole based on Speed. Should be interesting to see him in his own title after House of M.

I've never really cared for him...though he was sort of cool in the 'X-Men Evolution' cartoon, but in the comics...

As each year goes by, I like Quicksilver less and less. But he was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Aside from the "ultimate" version of Quicksilver, there has never been an incest angle. Pietro is just a very overprotective brother. It's not surprising, considering all the turmoil the twins went through as gypsies, mutants, and villains.

While I'd have to say that I've been less than enthralled with House of M in general (excluding the great Spider-Man mini), this use of Quicksilver makes absolute sense to me, and in my opinion, actually adds to the character. The Maximoff children have always had one major issue-- abandonment-- and Quicksilver's choice to protect Wanda from the onset of the Avengers and X-Men out for her blood has less to do with her (and the threat she presents, for that matter), than a means to keep her with him. Pietro, even at his most gregarious, has always been a loner, and his snotty attitude is more of a defense mechanism than anything else. (He's afraid of being abandoned and hurt again.) Unfortunately, that defense mechanism drives people away, including his wife Crystal, who had an affair with a normal human because Pietro was so emotionally distant. (The icing on the cake for the scion of Magneto.) In order to avoid that hurt yet again, Pietro plays dice with reality, creating an idealized form of his family as it should have been from the beginning-- powerful, respected, in control, and most of all, together.

Finally, someone got it right! I love what they did in HoM, I think I'm one of the few readers that just simply followed HoM and enjoyed it. Yes, he's always been a prick, but usually we'd see the conversation between him and Magnus end where it did in HoM #1, and that was it. He's actually been quite a flat-character. "I love my sister, hate my father"-etc etc. HoM finally let Pietro develop, character-wise. You see the anguish on his face when he's dealing with Wanda being offed, you even see Magnus react with hopelessness. As far as SoM, I like where all of this is going. People need to stop hating on Bendis with wreckless abandon and just let him finish the story he set out to tell. Let's judge what he did or didn't do after SoM and Decimation.

I think he's more of a hero then those other losers in the HoM books.

Well, yeah. But Northstar's dead....
And I am with the people who liked House of M. I really think it gave Pietro some depth of character. He finally stands up to Magneto... and gets squashed by a gigantic hunk o' metal.
Anyways, Son of M looks promising, and from the january solicits we can see Quicksilver in something that may or may not be the Inhuman's Terrigan Mists... so.... interesting.

Damn having your wife cheat on you with another hero is one thing...but with a oridinary human being, that is just showing how much she need affection.

What bothers me mostly is his callousness towards his daughter. I haven't read all of the tie-in issues but I haven't noticed anybody mention his daughter at all. What happened to her in this? He apparently remembers his part in this, so he remembers his former life. How could he ignore his daughter and what possibly happened to her by erasing his former marriage to Crystal? He's a jerk yeah, but he's always put his family first. Out of sight, out of mind just doesn't fit with his personality.

Is there any chance that at least some of this can be blamed on recent writers?

quicksilver i've never felt one way or another about the guy up untill now i think that bendis has done a very good job of making him a lil more understandable i mean the boys screwed because of his father yes but to what depths we never knew. i think that the house of m things has been done well and i like the fact that quicksilver was the root of the issue..ONE

I've like Quicksilver since the Peter David X-Factor days, and always enjoyed him poping up in Avengers under Busiek/Perez.
It's a little hard for me to swallow that Quicksilver would do what he did considering all the experience he had as a hero all these years. Clearly, he's going to lose his powers.
Here's hoping Son of M puts him on the straight path and finds a way to redeem him. He's sort of like the MU's Hal Jordan now...no one is going to respect and trust him, or even want to speak to him after all this.
The tragedy is that technically the New Avengers/X-Men were NOT on their way to kill Wanda, only talk to her...

I think it woulda been great to see Quicksilver take on the New Avengers and X-Men before House of M. He has the ability to do so its just that no one ever taps into his unbelivable potential resource. Look in House of M #7, He knocked everyone on they ass before they could even get out a sentence.

Here's what I think: House of M essentially sets everything back to Quicksilver's days with the Brotherhood, except in this case, the family never splits up, mutants not only gain respect but actual power in society (the Brotherhood works, in other words), and Magneto and his family are hailed as royalty. Everything that has caused Pietro pain over the years-- his own feelings of inadequacy of being number two to Crystal behind Johnny Storm, his feelings of rejection from the Inhuman royal family (like Black Bolt ever told him he wasn't good enough for his sister), his child being merely human-- have all been erased in a typical Quicksilver knee jerk reaction. (If there's one thing that's been consistant about Pietro over the years, it's that he lets his emotions get the best of him and thinks with his heart, not his head.) Basically, he eliminates all the complications from his life, and the lives of all the mutants who have suffered like him just for being different.
I'm not saying it's great, but it does work. I'm hoping Son of M will be better.

No one has any Idea of what Son of M is about? Quicksilver gotta keep his powers tho because without that man he is way to unstable mentally.

It does fit for Pietro. PAD got it down in one issue of X-Factor. Pietro's dickishness is the result of a lifelong experience of someone to whom the world is an unending array of people who are at the ATM in front of you and CAN'T WORK IT.
Most speedsters can turn off their speed, function like normal people.
Pietro's entire world is in fast-forward, and we're all painfully INSANELY slow.

What fanboy stranger said is exactly right. And I think this fits right in with his characterization by Stan Lee and Peter David, and those are the writers who I thought did the best job on the character. Honestly I've been waiting for him to become a bad guy again for a while and I'm glad its finally happened. I get the impression from what preview stuff I've seen that Son of M will have him playing more of a villain, so if thats the case I'm in.
