Hey Gail,

After publicly admiting that I haven't yet joined the board, and witnessing the reaction of utter shock, it's time I drank the kool-aid.

Chris Williams, Dallas, TX, I and the webmaster for Zeus Comics, I'm also Richard's partner.

Comics: I will follow writers more than the titles. Gail Simone books are my addiction. Mike Carrey is also one of my favorites. I'm back to X-men thanks to Carrey. But I also read from the friends I've made like Roberto AS, and David Hopkins.

Welcome aboard, Chris, Zeus is a totally kickass place!

Welcome to all, don't be scared to ask or say anything on YABS. We're all welcom to Newbies, we were all there once, right?

Hey,

My names Linda, and I'm a graphic designer and I.T. geek. My favorite comics currently are Birds of Prey, the Joss Whedon X-Men, Y-The Last Man, and I'm just starting to get up to speed on Fables. I'll usually pick up anything by Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman as well.

Glad to be here. :)

Name: Kenny
Gender: Male
Age: 33
Occupation: Airfreight Industry
Comments: I just started reading comic books again this past June 2006. I haven't picked up a comic book since the early 1990s. I got turned off with the comic book industry looking for a "cheap" updates of their characters and with the art making every male superhero (including wimps) built like Mr. Universe and muscle-bound body builders. All of a sudden in the early 90s everything had to do with art and battles...which I did not complain about, but after a while it was the same story over and over. Plus the discovery of girls and women limited my time with comic books at that time as well.

After 13 or so years, I came across some of these comic book websites. And I was surprised at how the comic books have improved in their storylines(along with their prices). I can say once again, after a 13 or 14 year hiatus, I am a proud comic book reader. Hopefully my daughter, son, and and upcoming son in October can inherit my love of comic books as well. This might be tough with the video game culture heavily entrenched in our culture today.

At this time I am reading the following comic books:

DC

1] Green Lantern 2] Superman/Batman 3] Manhunter 4] Supergirl 5] Wonder Woman 6] The Flash 7] Justice 8] Green Lantern Corps 9] The All New Atom10] Justice League Unlimited 11] Justice League of America

You might see a lot of female super heroine comic books on the list. Back then, you couldn't see me holding let alone reading a female comic book. But as a parent, machismo is out the door. I am secure with my manhood, whereas as a teenager, you have a rep to protect ( in your mind that is ). But the best thing is that the "first purchase" I had last month was Green Lantern Rebirth Hardcover edition. This brought me back to reading comic books. I'm a Hal Jordan fan. I always thought that there were two superheroes that can handle Superman...Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Firestorm.

I am reading up and researching JSA, JLA, and Birds of Prey as possible comic books to follow up on.

Marvel

1] Ms. Marvel 2] Civil War 3] Thing (Hope marvel decides to continue this)

Unfortunately, I've been away from comics for a very long time. I look forward to Marvel's Annihilation arc. I have all four Silver Surfer issues on that arc. I still have to see what's going on in the Marvel Universe before deciding on what comic books to pursue reading again. I might follow Spider-Man just to see how his life changes after his unmasking. I was sad to know about Thor's world of Asgard destroyed.

Hi! Long time reader, first time poster... thought I'd intro before running around wily nilly and using phrases like 'willy nilly'.

I'm Carla, I work for Metro Entertainment (Santa Barbara's Best and Only Comic Book and Gaming Store) and boy howdy do I like comics. I've worked with Metro for over five years now (proving I am dependant on that employee discount) and discovered Gail Simone through Deadpool and haven't looked back.

My brain is mostly wired for Marvel books, I run a teeny little comic review site and growing up, my mother made me speak English in a bilingual home. While my mother was able to yell at me in Spanish all she wanted, I had to speak English. We were in America, after all, and my mother graduated with a degree in English while raising two kids on her own while working city PD. English was very important.

And that's my overly long story on what languages I don't speak.
Thank you.

I've visited the YABS board rarely, but after careful deliberation, I've decided y'all don't suck. No, no need to give me a trophy--your appreciation is thanks enough. :)

Hi, my name's Joanne, but I generally answer to Jo. Or dude. Generally not dudette, though.

At 22 years of age, I currently have 3 semester left of a Bachelors in Mechatronic Engineering to not fail. When I'm not at uni failing things, my time is usually pilfered by WoW, cookies, spectator sports, and of course, comics. Under my current regime, I should be at least 200 kg of Jo, but through the miracles of genetic inheritance I've managed to remain normal-sized Jo.

My brother read comics when we were kids, so obviously I had to get into comics because ZOMG! He's older, therefore everything he did was cool! At least, that was my school of thought at the time... On Saturdays, I run a comic book shop. I first worked there during high school on Thursday afternoons to help unpack the Wednesday shipment, but had to stop when studying got in the way. So for a few years I just hung around as a customer, but I started working there again about 2 years ago. The pay is... well, it's better than nothing, but mostly I stick around for the discount and to read the comics I don't want to buy.

I tend to buy Marvel books (Spidey & Ultimate books, Wolverine, Astonishing, Avengers, Exiles, Green Arrow, Superman/Batman) and my brother buys DC (Batman, BoP, Catwoman, Nightwing, Outsiders, Usagi, Hellboy/BPRD, Conan), so we kind of pool our comic buying powers. Mine are tucked safely away after he reads them, though. I mean, he did get me into comics, but I'll be damned if I let the slovenly ape mangle my comics in with his.

As for languages, well, I'm a Korean who has lived in Australia since she was 4, so I speak dodgy Korean and bastardised English. I found Secret Six #1 to be quite the novelty ;)

Okay. That's me. *wave*

Hi, Gail

My name is Loren and I am a big fan of yours!

If I could put my life into checkboxes, you could call me your average openly gay, Filipino American liberal democrat...with a heart of gold.

My screen name means "Chicken of the Sea" in Tagalog.

I live in the middle of nowhere in the farthest reaches of the East Bay in California (Won't somebody PLEASE rescue me?!?!). I work for Planned Parenthood as the communications coordinator and previously to that I worked for GLAAD (The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). So, in other words, I've been poor working the non-profit sector most of my adult life, but my soul feels RICH! Woo hoo!

I also write a column called ONE DIVERSE COMIC BOOK NATION (http://www.wayneenterprise.org/columns/listarticles.php?id=1) in which I discuss the diversity (or lack of diversity) in comic books. In fact, I even profiled The All New Atom (http://www.wayneenterprise.org/columns/viewcolumn.php?id=10) which I ABSOLUTELY love! ASIAN POWER!

I also have a comic geek blog that I try to write in quite a bit called "adventures of a gay COMIC BOOK geek (http://www.adventuresofagaygeek.com)."

You and I actually met at Comic-Con this year and that was a true highlight for me:

http://lorenjavier.com/cpg133/albums/comiccon2006/normal_04-gail-and-me.jpg

And, that's about it. Seriously, keep up the great work! This is my first post to your Board. I'm a little slow on forums, but I hope to come over and participate as much as a I can!

My name is Denny, I live in Pittsburgh Pa.

The only reason I joined this forum was from reading Gail's posts on the DC forums. She's really the only comic writer I can name, all do to her fantastic work on Birds Of Prey, which I started reading all for Black Canary.

I started reading comics while at art school in the mid 90's, mostly marvel back issues. Now I read mostly DC.

I like super hero comics the best, and really have a thing for the happier stuff from the 50' 60' 70' and earlier 80's. In addition to Black Canary, my other favorite character is Spider-woman (Jessica Drew). I also read G.I. Joe and some Star Wars titles.

I collect action figures, records, things that have Dr. Crusher on them, and old junk.

I also paint, avoid watching the news, hate vinyl siding, listen to anything Debbie Harry might sing, enjoy church functions, and enjoy drinking Barcardi and cokes.

My name is Mike, I live in San Francisco, work in advertising.

Old enough to remember 12 cent comics, Silver Age Supergirl was my first crush.

Read mostly DC-Teen Titans, JSA, JLA, Outsiders, LSH, Birds of Prey, Shadowpact, Secret Six. Some Marvel-Avengers, Young Avengers, Ultimates, Some X-books. Plus Love and Rockets and all related books.

Gail, I'm a huge fan of your writing. BOP had been one of my faves, but it had hit a real dry spell until you came on and turned it around. And lady Blackhawk. Genius.

I wish Dc would put you on Wonder Woman. She needs a sense of humor. I wrote an article with my thoughts on WW. Here's the lilnk-

Hi! My name is Sam, im 22 and I live in Lynchburg, VA.

Favorite books of the past few years have been Teen Titans, Villians United/Secret Six, Green Arrow, Seven Soldiers, Ultimates 1 and 2, New Avengers, and many many more.

Would love to see Gail's take on some of the Seven Soldiers characters somewhere down the line.

Thanks,

I should have done this a while ago. Oh, well.

My name is Amanda. I live in Michigan. I'm still in high school.

I read Outsiders, Teen Titans. I really want to pick up Birds Of Prey, and Supergirl, but I do have enough money to pick both up. I think I'll start to get Birds Of Prey....if I have money.

Ack, I should've done this a while ago.

I'm Sivi, nearly graduated college student, Dutch and expatriated, and I've been at this board for like well over a year without posting, because I suck. Special skills I have that I can mention here: I speak five languages with varying competence (that's Dutch, English, German, French, and Bahasa Indonesia), I know far too much about international law (public, private, HR, CrimJust, commercial, your mom, and so forth) and the UN, and I have seen every bad horror movie ever. No, really. I have.

Some of you may remember me and my friend herozer0 up above from the comic reviews we used to do, back in the dark ages (ie, last year). I think he's being modest--or perhaps denying he was ever involved, that's possible--but he was def. on the 'sprinklins!' team.

Comics I love that may not necessarily exist anymore, or that may not even be good anymore: Young Justice, Gotham Knights, Wonder Woman (vol. 2 and 3), Gotham Central, Birds of Prey, Villains United/Secret Six, She-Hulk, Checkmate, Runaways, Y:TLM, Manhunter, Legion of Superheroes, Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., Fell, Astonishing X-Men, The Pulse, Alias, and Young Avengers.

Hello. I'm Clint aka Phil.

I'm 44 years old, but I look 43.

I've been reading comics since I was 5 or so. In fact, I learned to read by reading "funny books".

Some of my favorite childhood memories are tied to comics in some way.

I'd take my weekly allowance ($1.50) and ride my bike down to the local drugstore (with the metal spinning rack which said in bold red letters "Hey, Kids! Comics!) and load up on comics. Read them all in the hot SC sun in my folks front yard.

I've got identical twin boys who are 15 now and are labelled as "gifted", of which both they and myself are quite proud. One wants to be a pharmacuetical engineer and the other just wants to make lots of money :D . My sons are gifts from God.

I like Marvels...old line zombie.

I admittedly don't like some of the innocence which is now gone from comics, but I'm certainly glad the medium is taken more seriously now than when I was a kid.

Oh, and Boxers..not briefs.

Hello!

I'm new here, having stumbled on this forum thanks to the folks at the Words of Prey site. My name is Adam, I'm 28 and am a medical writer living in Auckland, New Zealand - although at the end of November my wife and I are moving to Macclesfield, England.

Comics-wise, I'm a big fan of Alan Moore and Kurt Buseik, and currently get Batman, Superman, All Star Superman, Action Comics, Astro City, 52, Justice League of America, Wonder Woman, Justice (I love Alex Ross) and a few other DC titles whose names escape me at the moment! I only just discovered Birds of Prey and Gail Simone - I was watching JL on TV and saw an episode about the Huntress, so looked her up on wikipedia. This led me to canarynoir.com and the Words of Prey forum, which led me to picking up Birds of Prey 96 and 97 just the other week. I was extremely impressed - in fact I think Gail's writing is up there with Kurt Buseik. I'm sure you get 400,000 people telling you everyday, Gail, but you rock!

I'm also a long-time reader of 2000AD, the weekly British comic anthology (Judge Dredd etc). I'm a big Doctor Who fan, and in fact I edit TSV, the fanzine of the New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club (award-winning I might add!).

And to top it off I'm a writer - I've got one novel being looked at by a publisher and have written a lot of fiction over the years. I'm now trying to get into comic writing (artists are so hard to find, aren't they?).

So that's about me. This place looks pretty cool - I think I'll stick around!

Hey,

Jim here. I hang around a couple of comic boards (Comixfan & the Bendis board) and those led me to CBR. Found this area of CBR because I clicked on Gail's name when I saw her here as a visitor.

As of this writing Nextwave is my favorite comic, Gail Simone is my favorite writer and Alan Davis is my favorite artist. Mostly I get Marvel books but only about 10 comics a month.

I love living in New England and my lame claim to fame is that I use to work at Strathmore Papers which produces the paper Marvel provides to its artists. After lay-off's there I joined Top Flite and make the golf balls several PGA pro's use.

I dabble in making comics but have yet to hit the big time.

Hello, My name is Blake.

I am 23 years old, live in Denver, Colorado. I am a cultural resource consultant in training.

I started reading comics again within the last year. I am currently reading Birds of Prey, X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, JLA, Manhunter, X-Factor, and whatever else catches my eye at the moment.

I've been lurking on YABS and the X-Men boards for a while, and just thought I would post and say hi.

I read very few comics these days: All Star Superman and Fell as issues.
Powers, Fables, Y The Last Man, and now NextWave as trades.

He recently discovered that writing about oneself in the third person isn't as funny as speaking about oneself in the third person, and wonders whether this is the reason Dr. Doom has no myspace account.

I'm Ryan. Nice to meet y'all.

I'm a 23 year old male from Dubuque, IA that works as production/developmental editor for a small textbook company.

I probably won't post here much, but I dig the fact that Gail has such an nice forum to interact with her many fans.

I jumped back onto the comics scene in 2004 after a decade long absence, mostly because I had a gift certificate to Amazon and heard about Jim Lee drawing Batman. After loving Hush, I returned to the local comic book shop and haven't looked back since.

Comics wise, I'll give just about anything a chance and my ever expanding pull list is a prime example of that. Like just about everyone else, I'm a huge fan of Alan Moore. My current favorites are Gail Simone, Paul Jenkins, and Geoff Johns. I also go crazy for just about anything drawn by Phil Hester. Like I said though, I'll read anything once and tend to get hooked on anything character driven. Oh yeah, and Manhunter...loves me some Manhunter.

I have a BA in English. Non-comic hobbies include studying literature/philosophy/religion, drinking fine Scotch, watching good films, liberal politics, and spending time with my amazing girlfriend of three years.

I'm singoalla, I'm 25, and I've been terribly rude, posting before I introduced myself.

I work in marketing, which can be funner than it sounds.
I read DC, with a few exceptions. I'm a Bat-fiend, and borrow BoP from friends when I can.

Favourite writers: Gail (!), Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, Kurt Busiek, Paul Dini, Grant Morrison. You know, the usual.
Favourite artists: Barry Windsor-Smith, Neal Adams, Bryan Hitch, Bill Sienkevic, Klaus Janson, Jim Aparo etc.

I have terrible people skills, and this is my apology for anything I may and will say in the future. :) Really, I'm nice. I just stick my foot in my mouth constantly.

And I speak fluent Swedish.

RaulTheCat
10-17-2006, 08:26 AM
Well, I guess I should introduce myself.
My name is Darrell, I am an old fart of 37, been reading comics for over 30 years. Lately I have been out of the 'scene', mainly because I don't have the time. I like to buy a lot of the trades, for the same reasons I like to buy TV shows on DVD; I like to get the story all at once.

About me: I am a writer, not professional, although that would be nice. I always wanted to be a writer/artist, but I realized long ago that my art is lacking. But I still write my own stuff, usually using thumbnails to break it down before writing a full script. I have created an entire universe of my own stuff, ranging from the present, past and future. The main is the super-hero thing, which ties into the future stuff, which ties into the stories set in the past.

My faves: Grant Morrison, for bringing back silver age goodness with his JLA, Howard Chaykin, well, for just being Chaykin, and the King, the mighty Jack Kirby.

Anyway, that's me.

Hi, My name is Aaron, im sixteen, and been reading comics since i was six (the first day i jacked a fantastic four comic from my cousin's big box of comics). I usually buy trades to get the whole story, and because the closest comic place is like 30 miles away and i cant drive..for another three months :(.

About Me: I play basketball for my highschool, love to read comics (thats kind of obvioius), really like to pig out as well on junkfood (do it while you can), I also like to play guitar.

Favorites: Dwayne mcduffie for making static, Grant morrison for making JLA cool for me, Alan Davis( man he can draw) mark waid for making impulse, mike weiringo and robert kirkman for some.

I love music and movies and play guitar and saxomophone. Like Froggy I eat a lot that I probably shouldn't, my main weaknesses being Coke in all its forms (besides twist and lime), beefy hamburgers and choc chip muesli bars.

Favourite comics include Astro City, Batman and The Escapists. Daredevil: Visionaries is also very good, and there are a few other trades I've read that were great as well. I have only been reading for a few months, though.

I'm Steph, I'm 31.

I am also a grad student since the state of Louisiana does not believe that my bachelor's and master's degrees in English are not enough to qualify me to teach. So, in May, I will also have a Master of Arts in Teaching with my teaching certification.

I read Fables, BoP, Y the Last Man, and whatever SK716, who I have known since 1991, tells me to.

I am also a Powergirl fan, as she is the only superhero I could ever play on TV. And that's not because I'm blond and have an attitude - although I am both.

Hello

I'm Gozwald. I was born in 1973 (yup, old around here :p ). I love these little smilies that they let us play with in our posts  .

I grew up watching Superfriends and thought Aquaman was waaaaaay cool. My step-dad bought me comics to garner my favour while he dated my mom (it worked). He was a Hawkman fan and had these fantastic drawings of Carter Hall.

Both of my parents are from Vojvodina and I love their accents. I was born in Sydney, but have lived in Perth since I was very young.

My favourite comic of all time is L.E.G.I.O.N. Sensational stuff.

I'm discovering that the 9-5 Monday to Friday grind behind a desk in an office may not be for me, but that's an issue I must tackle when I'm ready.

I have two little woofies. Sage is a Miniature Dachshund, Lilli is a West Highland Terrier. They are naughty but lovable, they get kissed and cuddled A LOT!

I can speak Serbo-Croatian, but reading and writing in it are beyond my powers. I would love to learn French, I adore the way it sounds.

I would love to travel to Liechtenstein one day.

And the very bizarre request for Languages: Hindi, Kannada, Oriya. And while I do not really speak them, I have an excellent grasp of Sanskrit and, 4thC Attic Greek.

Just pointing out, it is not that odd. Gail is looking for translators for her characters.

Whoa.....Chuck Dixon is here ? Wow.....I like remember sat one time you were doing the entire Batman line at some point ! And your arc on The Punisher in the mid to late 90's ( Countdown) was awesome to see.

I will now stop my regular scheduled sucking up. :p

Wow. I've really admired your work, Mr. Dixon.

I took up comics very late in life, and some of your stories were the first I read. Now, I am a complete comics addict. Draw your own conclusions from that.

Though, I suppose I could also blame you for enabling my addiction. :)

Really, welcome. It is a real honor.

My name is Chris. I'm 23 years old. I live in Hot Springs, Ar. I stumbled upon this site while nosing around the Eric and Ray Show's official site. I'm starting to get into comics so I thought I'd sign up and maybe learn some things from you fans. I'm just starting out so I don't know a whole lot about a whole lot, but that's why I'm here. Right now my favorites are X-Men (particularly Gambit and Iceman), Ironman, and the Punisher. Like I said, I don't know a lot of the history of most of the comics so I probably won't say a lot, just sit back and soak up the information from you guys. Me and my best friend are currently collecting the Marvel Legends series of action figures. We went to Toys-R-Us the other day and found the entire Mojo set. Right now we've got the whole Sentenal, Apocalypse, and Mojo sets. We're two away from having all of the Onslaught set and we've got three to go to have Giantman, and four to go with the Legendary Riders.
I'm looking forward to learning from you guys and bugging the piss out of poor Shelly ;)

Hello everyone,
I'm from germany, 33 years old and currently doing my PhD in physics.
English is my second language.

As a kid, the only comics I read were Asterix, Lucky Luke and, like every other kid in germany, lots and lots of Donald Duck.

That I discovered american comics is the fault of Paul Dini: The first Tim Burton movie made me very interested in Batman, and I loved the animated series, especially Dini's Joker episodes. By chance I discovered some german issues of Mad love and over animated Batman comics written by Dini and loved them, but was not very attracted by the DCU Batman comics (at that time, by Moench and Jones). After the german translations were cancelled, by chance I discovered in the internet that in America there were still animated Batman comics published, so I searched (and found) a shop who sold them here. Soon, I was buying more and more american super-hero comics, my favorite series being Batgirl.

At the moment, my favorite series are She-hulk, X-factor and Astonishing X-men; Dini's Tec was OK but a bit disappointing for me, but I hope it gets better.

From Gail I really liked Rose and Thorn; BoP I have to admit did never impress me very much, I decided several times to drop it and then bought it again some time later; currently I'm only reading it because more Rose/Thorn appearances were hinted (very clever, Gail!).

Altough I'm buying a lot of them, I'm actually not sure if, besides Batman, I'm identifying with american comics that much; sure, there is some great stuff I admire, like Sandman and Top Ten, but my real personal favorite is something completely else: Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Hihi, I'm Jen and I'm a senior in college majoring in East Asian Studies, concentration in Japan. I'm currently occupied with my senior essay, which will focus on an examination of love triangles in three works of Japanese fiction: The Tale of Genji from 1000 AD, The Love Suicides of Sonezaki from around 1700 AD, and a modernday Japanese television drama called Pride. I'm also currently trying to break a bad internet addiction, but being on Thanksgiving break isn't helping on that front...

I was a Marvel zombie in my younger years, but nowadays read and collect 90% DC (although that's changing again...I mostly collect back-issues).

Somebody mentioned that you might need a translator for your characters, Gail. I've personally taken only five years of Japanese language, so I don't know what I could do, but I do have excellent connections with some very nice Japanese and Korean people who would probably be thrilled to help out. Heck, I go to one of the more diverse schools in the country with a high rate of foreign exchange, so name a language and I can probably help find a translator for you. Don't hesitate to ask.

Nice to meet you all!

My name is Tom. I'm a comic book fan of 40 years and an avid City of Heroes player. (I'm one of those who prefers the hero side to the villain side.) I have never been an "either/or" type where Marvel and DC are concerned. Lately, I'm more of a DC guy. Books I love currently include: Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes; Ultimate Spiderman; Powers; Fables; 52; and, of course, Birds of Prey.

Tom, did you have a backup story in COH comic about your character HERIOD?

I had a few backups myself with my character Kid Dynamo in the old Blue King COH comics.

My name's Miriam, I'm seventeen, and I read comics. I got into them when I was thirteen with Batman: TAS, moved on to JLA and Impulse, and now I read everything I can get my hands on, good or bad. I picked up a Birds of Prey comic a few months ago. It changed my life. I now want to work in comics, as a writer or artist or whatever I can dredge up the talent for. I've spent the last season trying to get my hands on everything Gail's ever written. Your characters and stories are so real, nothing fake or mean-spirited anywhere that I can see. A lot of the issues your characters face hit so close to home that I'd have to put the book down, if the humor didn't make it easier to face. Your kind of writing is the reason I read comics. Thanks, Gail.

P.S. My wish list for the holidays reads only "Gail Simone" written seventy one times. In hindsight, my family is sometimes regrettably literal and I apologize in advance if you find yourself kidnapped. No hard feelings, I hope.

I'm Chris Richards. I'm a frustrated writer and occasional mean spirited critic, but I like to think I have a good heart underneath it all. I live in East TN after being born and raised in Southern California, so I'm disgruntled and curmudgeonly over that on top of being unable to actually sit down and write. :)

I've been a comic book fan all my life, though I've only recently been reading comics again for about a year now. I'm currently between jobs, so my pull list has shrunk because for financial reasons and because a few specific titles stopped being good enough for me to feel like paying money for them.

I've honestly not read as much of your stuff, Ms. Simone, as I'd like so maybe it's weird for me to be here, but I loved 'Villains United' more than anything else leading up to Infinite Crisis, certainly more than Infinite Crisis itself, and a lot more than almost anything that's come since it. I also love Secret Six.

As far as other favorites current comic books, the big ones right now are Arvid Nelson's 'Rex Mundi' and Ed Brukaker's current runs on Captain American and Daredevil. I stopped paying for cable because I wasn't watching enough of it, and there really isn't any other television option around here, but I'm a fairly active download pirate and watch a lot of 'Bones' and 'Boston Legal'.

Occupation: Graphic designer for a coach and industrial vehicle manufacturer.

What comics you like: Anything REEEALLY worth buying: my dayjob, and family life with two little kids, really eats up practically all of my spare time (and my spare change!), so the few times I make it into the comic shop, I usually buy trades or graphic novels. No single issues anymore for me.

Artists I like: Ben Templesmith, Doug Tennapel, Craig Thompson, Kent Williams, Ashley Wood, Nick Stakal...

Writers I like: Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, Rick Remender...

Languages: Dutch, French, English... some German.

Well, my real name is Erik, I live in the wonderful, glorious, '#1 In New England' state that is Maine (help, it's cold and the moose are after me). I've been a comic book reader for about 20 years now, cutting my teeth on (and winding up mangling) my dad's old Silver Age comics, including the early Justice League of Americas, including the first Crisis on Earth-One and Crisis on Earth-Two. ...I'll never live those down.

Favorite comics? I've started drifting away from the big titles, partly due to the changing times, and partly due to a lack of interest. I still pick up Cable & Deadpool, the Teen Titans, and the odd other title now and again, but my primary reads currently are PS238, Nodwick, Knights of the Dinner Table, Hero^2, and others that I can just sit back and chuckle at.

(Mini-rant GO! Anybody else miss the days that the Avengers used to, y'know, Avenge stuff like when Busiek was writing it and Perez was drawing? When you had the feeling a storyline might actually go 12 issues not because of laziness and 'not getting around to it' but because it was planned and frequently touched upon?)

Anywho, I'm also a huge fan of obscure characters being given a chance to shine, as well as humor, and followed Ms. Simone since the days of YABS and bought the first Simpsons issue she did to be supportive. Personally, I'm hoping for the day she gets to write something for Marvel again, and we can see the return of long-forgotten characters like Sundown, Gypsy Moth/Skein, Ginny Mahoney (c'mon, she could've survived that blast from Bastion), Tagak the Leopard Lord, and others.

I've been in and out on YABS before, but have never done this here, so...

My screenname is Solaris. That's based on a character I once played in a superheroes game, who had light/sun powers. I have an affinity for Light.

I've gone by two other main names on CBR: first, Silverstar, and then Flamestar.

I've been around since around 1999-2000. I currently co-moderate the Books Forum with Roquefort Raider (a sweetheart if there ever was one!)

CBR connections: I'm friends with more people than I can mention here, but here's the family and locals:

DarkBlade (aka Rin) is my daughter, and Tadhg Adams (formerly Manchester Trix) is my son-in-law. My other daughter Chibistarjumper posts on the rare occasion. My husband sometimes posts as BubbaJoWants. Our 5-yr-old son isn't up to joining yet, but I'm sure he will in the future. We have local friends, most especially Perry Holley, who moderates the Games forum. We rpg with him about once per week.

In the past, I've held a variety of jobs, including working as an asst. children's librarian, professional proofreader for a publisher of real estate guides, asst. manager at a Waldenbooks, and many other jobs (mainly retail), including Waffle House (where you work your butt off!). :) My degree is in Communications, with a specialty in Public Relations, and a minor in Creative Writing. I dropped out of college in my first marriage to stay at home with my daughters; went back after the divorce and got my degree.

I am currently a household manager trying to get my art career going. I also write on occasion, everything from short stories to poetry, and on rare occasion, a novel. My background includes lots of things published for free (mainly political cartoons and written articles with some creative writing submissions, and placing in the top ten on a national writing contest), but nothing for pay as yet. I'm working on continuing to hone my artistic skills, and trying to start selling prints via Deviantart (see http://deviantart.solarisguardian.deviantart.com/). The prints for sale process on my account there should be ready soon.

I'm Pagan, bi-sexual, mother of three, very happily married to my soulmate (in this my 2nd marriage, the first one was a big mistake), a lover of art, fiction (especially fantasy and scifi), and beauty in all things. I am a strong believer in the importance of honesty, compassion, justice, and being responsible for one's self and one's actions. I do my best to leave the world a better place than I found it.

Okay, that's the Reader's Digest version. If you want more, you'll have to either watch me as I go, or ask me. :)

Okies.

Name's Jack, but most of my friends call me JC (or dickhead, but that's a story for another time). I'm soon-to-be-35, single, with shared custody of two wonderful boys, ages 8 and 5. I'm a HUGE DC fan, with the occasional Marvel title thrown in, but I'm relegated to only buying a handful of comics a month now as being single and forking out child support (after-school care is EXPENSIVE) while trying to maintain a place of my own really stretches the funds.

Right now I'm buying these books religiously:

Birds of Prey
JSA
Superman
Action Comics
Detective Comics
Batman
Gen 13

And I'm reading just about everything CW-related at the shop (or at least hearing the gossip).

My name is Larry Carter, I'm twenty-eight years old, single and I will stand before all of you to say, with heartfelt regret, that I am completely, hopelessly, and intolerably out of touch with the current comic book market.

I feel like an ersatz Captain America coming out of a frozen slumber for about ten years or so and not knowing much, if anything, about what comic book fans are into nowadays.
I look at what the spinning racks at magazine shops are offering and I come out of those places not knowing what to think or what to choose.
It's like being a kid in a candy store, with so much choice and yet wondering if I will like the new types of candy I see all around me and not seeing anything that's familiar.

What can I say? I'm an old-fashioned kind of guy who used to collect comics when I was much younger, all in the eighties, mind you, and who'd like to have a little help in navigating through new and totally unknown territory.

Thanks. :)

Drew Edwards. 28 years old. My "night job" is being a butcher for whole foods market, but I want to be a writer more than anything. To this end for a little over a decade or so I've written a comic called "Halloween Man." It's never been a huge hit or anything, but it's got a kind of cult following.

It recently got picked up by a publisher. (Hoorah!)

I also write a column called Digging my Own Grave for Scryptic Studios (http://www.scrypticstudios.com/columns/digging_my_own_grave/)

Anyone wanting to know more about me, just read that. Then you'll know to much. ;)

I love horror movies. I have a massive DVD collection reflecting this. I also love classic films, comedies, gangster movies, and westerns. But horror is my first love.

I'm married to a lovely young lady who works as a Marilyn Monroe tribute artist. (http://www.modernmarilyn.com/) Her name is Jami and she is my muse and support network.

I live in McKinney Texas. (Though that will be changing soon.)

My all time favorite comic is the Lee/Kirby run on Fantastic Four.

I came here because of one Rick Olney character...and I mean to help bring him down. After that, I will probably fade into the woodwork, until I am needed again. Much like King Arthur...or Underdog.

Don't you dare make me pout at you.

I also have no sense of humor.

I'm so calling bullshit on that!

We lost a huge thread on this, so please, new and old posters alike, please tell me about yourself, cause I SUCK at names!

Name, gender, occupation, and what comics you like, and...

just for my reference, any languages you speak fluently aside from English.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Gail

My name is Josh Miller, and if the name doesn't bring about the obvious, I am a male. I am turning 21 in July. Occupation is pretty embarrassing, as I basically take orders over the phone for yearbooks. Boring as hell, but it pays.

Currently in a community college (possibly KU next semester) trying to get a degree for psychology, though I've had interests in screenplay writing and also writing stories for comics. However, I'm not entirely sure how well I would do with actual structuring, so I've never followed through with those fantasies though I have had ideas of what to do.

Comic wise, I've been reading them since I was 6, and the major ones were Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern (more Superman over any). Since I have been working, I can pick up any issues I feel I want, so that's always awesome too being able to expand on characters i wasn't able to as a child.

As for languages, I've only taken classes in French, though after 4 years, you would think I would retain more than some basic words like I have.

BTW Gail, hands down one of the best writers in the business today.

Trust me, Josh. Structure can be learned. Fresh story ideas that excite you, that can't be taught. Go for it kiddo. Don't worry about what you don't know about the process. ;)

Aw, thanks. I tried to start write a book type thing, that I wanted to make a screenplay (figured I'll write out a complete story, then pick apart what I thought would work best as a movie), but my laptop screwed up, and I lost all the work I had up to Chapter 7. Doesn't seem like much, but to me, that's a hell of a lot of work.

It's just hard to know exactly how to write. I look at how some people make their scripts or stories, and I'm just sitting here stunned looking at it completely confused on how it's supposed to be set up.

But ideas a plenty I have.

Hi, Gail! Nice meeting on tonights SPA Chat over at Dimestore! I think the best and most thorough way to introduce myself as well as give you some links to my stuff would be to post the info off of my ComicSpace page profile here, so apologies if it sounds a little "third personsy":

Stan Yan grew up in Denver, Colorado and went to school at the University of Colorado in Boulder where he got his bachelor’s degree in accounting. Due to the lack of sex-for-recruiting for accounting students, Yan’s life took the tragic turn into sales for the securities industry, where he has wallowed in ethical poverty on-and-off for many of the last fourteen years. Yan takes his frustrations out by penning graphic novels such as The Wang (http://www.squidworks.com/Stan/Wang) as well as a daily financial webcomic called, The Tickle Tape (http://www.squidworks.com/Stan/TickleTape).

Hi. My name is Chris McKenzie and I'm a writer, though not of comic books and not what I'd call professionally...yet. I like comics, but it's been a while since I've collected any (other than a few manga - I hope liking those doesn't get me shot).

I wandered in here originally because of the Rick Olney mess, and because I have a friend who wants to be a comic book writer/artist and I'd like to keep her from getting Olneyed. I think I'll stay, though, and who knows, perhaps I'll start collecting comics again. :)

And, as I completely forgot when I posted this, I'm female.

Hi Gail, it was nice meeting you at the SPA chat last night. I'm not much of a forum poster, but since you invited so nicely, here I am.

There is more information about me than you probably want to know on my website (http://www.members.cox.net/samcclung65/), but here are some basic things:

I'm a 41 year old artist, I started doing small press comics back in the 80's. These days I mostly work in 3D, though I'll go back to 2D if it suits the project better. Lots of samples of both at my site. That's pretty much it.

Thanks for listening,

I'm Rachel. I'm 24, female, and an assistant editor at Dark Horse.

I read an awful lot of comics, but a few of my all-time favorites are Starman, B.P.R.D. Excalibur(the first series!), and Sparks. Gail is one of my heroes (and I love her Birds of Prey), but I'm too shy to tell her so. :o

My hobbies include (in no particular order) reading (anything I can get my hands on), writing (fiction, nonfiction, comics, and scholarship), tabletop gaming (I heart Adventure! SO hard), playing the cello (very, very badly, but I can play Gau's theme from FF VI, so I'm happy), and writing letters to elected officials (grassroots activism FTW!).

I've been a pretty bad lurker here, but I'm active in the Girl-Wonder.org (http://www.girl-wonder.org) community.

I live in Portland, Oregon with my partner and our gigantic, ornery cat.

I have BAs in English Lit. and Creative Writing. Between leaving college and starting at Dark Horse, I worked as director of a college writing center while doing freelance writing and editing. But what most directly led to my job was meeting and talking with Scott Allie (who's now my boss) at a con. We corresponded regularly for about eighteen months, and when the position came open, he asked me to apply.

Best advice I can give, based on both my experience and the stories I've heard from co-workers, is to start informal dialogs with comic pros--particularly editors--and maintain them. It's also very helpful to have a working technical understanding of comics and a very, very good grasp of both language and storytelling mechanics. If you're interested in editing comics, you should also know how to get--and stay--organized. Being able to juggle and keep track of a lot of responsibilities and details at the same time is critical.

I think that the stuff I studied in college prepared me pretty well for the critical aspects of editing: when I look at work, I'm able not only to say whether or not I like it, but to clearly articulate why. Tutoring experience helped, too: when I comment on something, I'm much more conscious of the person at the other end.

I also recommend taking some art--or at least art appreciation--classes. I've had to learn a lot of that stuff on my feet, and in retrospect, I really wish I'd been more visually literate when I started.

Hi, My name is Rich. Male, Taurus and as for age... 27 again.

I have a comic store on Castro St in SF. I am a huge fan and so are a lot of my customers. We have a comic chat every week (if you are in SF you are soooo invited to join us!!) and Birds of Prey is always a favorite. I tell new readers about this book as well as lesbians who want strong female leads. As for Welcome to Tranquility, this is my book of the week for both issues so far. I talk this book up! Thanks for giving us quality every month...

Oh and my best LS title for 06 was Secret Six, which I am still getting people into... it needs to be an ongoing!! (as long as Ragdoll is in it!!)...

Thanks!!

My name is Anthony.
I'm an illustrator, do a lot of comic type work. Co-owner with my wife and photoshop guru of Bella Vita Photography. She's the photographer. www.bellavitaphoto.com

I've been reading comics regularly as long as I can remember. My parents said my very first word I ever spoke was "Batman." That really freaked out my dad.

Favorite Heroes: Batman (of course), Superman, Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Huntress, Catwoman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, The JLA, Birds of Prey, Spider-Man, Captain America.

My favorite writers, besides Gail Simone (you can lierally write anything and I'll read it), are Geoff Johns, Marv Wolfman (especially the early New Teen Titans), Greg Rucka, Grant Morrison, Kevin Smith, Jeph Loeb.

My favorite artists- Jim Lee, George Perez, Jim Aparo, Ed Benes, Jim Balent, Ed McGuinness, and a host of others I can't think of at the moment.

I'm trying to break into the comics scene and know that eventually I will, as I keep working on my chops.

Comics I read regularly: Batman, Detective Comics, Birds of Prey, Superman, Action, Superman/Batman, Wonder Woman, JLA, Green Lantern, Tarot, Gen13, Secret Six, 52, Civil War, Captain America.

Interesting, I have a BA in English and am currently working on my MA. Don't think that I could follow the same path that you have, as I live in Northern Canada, and don't really have the opportunity to go to cons or meet pros. It's really cool to see that some people can break in if they make the effort though. Congrats!

Hey there.

My name's LP, I'm male, too young to be feeling so old, too old to want to go back to being young.

Friend of Larry Dixon's, played CoH a few times with you lot.

Comics I like: Lots? I read everything from classical marvel and DC (Xers, JLA, You name it.) to House of Secrets, hellblazer, bone, etc. I'm a bit eclectic. Fallen out of comics lately due to my extensive list of other time consuming, cash consuming, escapist hobbies.

Profession: Well, I break, I mean fix radars right now, hope to get back to web design a bit, (I really miss that) and write something worth publishing some day.

Other Hobbies: Ruffling Bird Brains (Yeah, You.) Computers, Geekery, Technomancy, Religion, Martial Arts, Games, games, games, games, Go, games, Go, and games.

I'll be about.

Be well.

In any case, my monthly titles include Justice Society, Nightwing, Teen Titans, and 52... soon to include BoP when it hits #104, as Gail suggested. ^_~ I'll occasionally pick up whatever else might snag my interest.

Hi, all.

The name's Mike Moyle; pleased to meet you.

I'm an over-large, long-haired, bearded, fiftymumble-year old computer/SF/comics geek and the only thing that keeps me from sliding into complete stereotype is that I am neither liivng in my mother's basement nor so rich from clever dotcom investments that all of the above becomes mere idiosyncracy.

I work as the illustrator/graphic designer for a city in Massachusetts and have been fortunate enough to be able to make my living off and on from doing graphics for twentymumble years with occasional bouts of honest work thrown in along the way.

Current/recent reads include BoP (of course!), Green Arrow, Whedon/Cassaday's X-Men (whichever one that is, which shows how interested in the X-books I am, in general), Doc Frankenstein (whenever it comes out), WolFF & Byrd, Soul*Searchers (Gonnan MISS that!), Fallen Angel... Oh; and I busted a gut over CSI: Dying in the Gutters! ...Lot's more, but I can't think right now...

My name is Matt Martin. My friends call me Doc. Hence the user name Matt Doc Martin.

I also have no sense of humor.

Y'know, MD - I've been lurking for a wek or two following the RO:FoMGF thread (It's like watching the train wreck from Lawrence of Arabia in slomo... you can't stop staring in horrified fascination - but I digress...) and I was WONDERING about the Matt Doc name - Have you read the Alan Moore/Steve Parkhouse "Bojeffries Saga"? Cousin Raoul (the werewolf of the family) would go on about "Effreyvum gets MATT chust because I eat vun DØCK! Anyvay... vos NOT døck -- vos pøødle!"

I was vondering if you vos "Matt Døck" Martin - the way you're keeping your teeth into RO, an' all...

No criticism, by the way... Totally complimentary! If people don't take care of things, things don't get taken care of!

Well; Later, y'all!

I'm the Reverend Smooth's husband and co-conspirator. My ComicSpace bio sums me up neatly:

I'm an award winning playwright and director making the jump from theater to comics.

I was born with arthrogryposis, and am in a power wheelchair. I write, draw and type with my mouth, but my drawing is mostly limited to caricatures. I stick to writing and lettering in comics.

My first book, 'HOLLOW', is forthcoming from Archaia Studios Press in 2007, and is about a boy without a soul. I use the soul as a metaphor for disability and to explore the human condition. It's a modern day dark urban fairytale, and I'm very lucky to have Duncan Eagleson (Sandman) on pencils and my wife, the uber talented Danielle Sylvie Taylor (also disabled) on color.

I have several other projects in development, and hope to share them with you in the coming year.

As far as comics, I am a huge Sandman fan (and still fanboy out over the fact my penciler worked on it), and currently read Artesia, Mouse Guard, Robotika and other fine ASP titles while avoiding (only semi-intentionally) most Big Two fare as I have no comic shop in my town. And I'm poor. That makes it hard, too.

Anyway. Um. Hi!

Hello.

I’m Matthew and I am currently snow bound in Colorado. Fortunately, my wife is a woman of infinite patience, so she only kicks me out into the cold on occasion.

Currently, I am on a sabbatical from work. Fortunately, I still do things that are productive and for which people pay me. One of these things is writing. Anything to pay the bills really; web site content, scripts, articles, reviews, etc. I’m attempting to make this a permanent arrangement. I am always on the lookout for partners, be they artists, editors or other writers.

I am an ignorant of any language other than English. I’ll read just about any comic in English. However, I tend to only review things I can say something positive about. The world is filled with people who do nothing but complain, so who needs more of that?

I have been reading comics longer than I have been reading (I used to look at the pictures) and my current favourites are Spider-Girl, 52, Ant-Man, Nightwing and Hero Squared. All those titles should be worried as all my favourites get cancelled.

Career-wise I have been working in fashion retail for nearly 10 years, I currently work for a high street womenswear company as a full-time sales assistant specialising in Visual Merchandising.

I am a fluent English speaker, and I also understand American even though I'll never get over your mis-spelling;) .

Hello, I'm Doug and I havn't posted here for a while so I thought I'd introduce myself as a way of getting started again. I'm 23 and work as a busser in a restaurant at a golf resort.
I would like to work in comics one day and am working on improving my artwork, because I am a control freak who wants to do all their own writing and art and answer to no man!

Comics I read as of today:Conan, Drain, ElephantMen, Fear Agent, Fell, Girls, Gen 13, Godland, Savage Dragon, The Spirit, Welcome to Tranquility, Gold Digger, Usagi Yojimbo, Red Sonja, Blade of the Immortal, Sam Noir the Samurai detective, Bomb Queen, Blame!, Death Note and probably a number of others I've forgotten because they come out so infrequently (oh yeah! Jack Staff!) along with any number of GNs or tpbs that may catch my eye.

I'm kind of trying to take a little break from the main DC and Marvel super hero universes, I just got tired of all the big events.

I can only speak and read english, and I have no special fonts of knowledge unique to me... so there... I'm useless.
And that about sums me well enough for now, Message Ends Now!

Hiya, I'm Phoebe. Figured I should post in this thread since I've been lurking here and posting occasionally...
I'm a 22 year old Female, and full-time college student, soon to be a graduate student with no solid job.

What comics you like:
I'm a bit of a comic newbie, I didn't start buying single issues until the last few months, and TPBs 3ish years ago. Listed roughly in the order I bought them, and with manga bringing up the rear: I like Watchmen, V for Vendetta, The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City, the first half or so of Sandman (which I haven't finished collecting or reading yet, despite having owned the first 7 volumes of it for 2 years), the Joe Kelly and Gail Simone ;) runs on Deadpool, Agent X, parts of Cable and Deadpool, pretty much anything with Taskmaster in it, Welcome to Tranquilty, Bastard!!, Monster, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, Ouran High School Host Club, the first half of Death Note, Pet Shop of Horrors, and Antique Bakery. And other stuff...

I think I had an intro in the old thread, but I haven't been around in a while. So!

Name:Elizabeth Genco
Gender: F!
Occupation: I recently gave up systems administration to write full-time, so that's cool
Comics I read: Gail! Bru! Waid! Brian Wood! old skool horror! I do a lot of picking and choosing on the comics front... I like to get stuff that grabs me. I've been meaning to pick up SCALPED and THE OTHER SIDE, two Vertigo books by that Kansas City fellah whose name I'm forgetting at the moment.

I have an affection for the supernatural (especially when it's done well) and mythology/folklore/spooky stuff, so I tend to gravitate towards books with those things.

Hey all:

My name's Aaron and I am a writer...and now publisher (yikes...how did THAT happen?!) My company, General Jack Cosmo Productions, has its first nationally distributed book in the March issue of Previews. Take a look...it's on pages 297/298 and features work from a lot of talented newcomers as well as guys with "Big Two" credits like colorist extraordinaire Dave McCaig and DC's "Ion" cover artist Kalman Andrasofszky. More info...and ART!!!...here:

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=166969

Our next three books will be available in August. If I had to describe GJC Productions in one sentence, I would say this--

We are the anti-Olney: We pay our talent up-front and our stuff doesn't suck.

If I had one more sentence, I'd say:

We are all about FUN comics; we aren't out to change the world, just entertain.

I'm into movies, politics, MMA, and too much tv.

As far as comics...I read a lot of stuff...some current and recent favorites are Invincible, All Star Superman, Jonah Hex, NextWave, Walking Dead, Seven Soldiers, American Way, Midnighter, and Welcome to Tranquility.

All-time faves are Watchmen, Planetary, Tom Strong, Alan Moore's Supreme, the Frank Miller run on Daredevil, 80s Iron Man, Neal Adams Batman, O'Neil/Adams Green Arrow/Green Lantern, and the Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire run on Justice League.

You have a book out. That alone makes you the Anti-Olney.

If you do get to box him (for charity), may I be tech cut man? Or better yet, the referee?

I'll call the fight when you get tired of punching him...or, as I like to call it, Thursday.

Hello friends...

I am a 37 year old male, married to a phenomenal woman, and we have two beautiful kids. I'm a Christian pastor, but not the pissed off variety that seems to get all the radio and tv time these days. I work in a small church for peanuts and the occassional lap dance (joke).

I was an avid fan of Villians United and Secret Six; a fan of BoP, and still working through my take on the All New Atom.;)

Ellen or Esther. Female. Customer Service Supervisor (for an international bank that wants its customers to "live richly")

I started with the Bat-Titles and peripherals and still read most of them. Lately I've also started playing "follow-the-writer" with Gail, Chris Gage, Russell Lissau, and Tamora Pierce.

I just clicked over from the DCMB and boy do my fingers hurt! ;)

My name is David, and I am a VP for an international bank (though not Ellen's--- a recent sales campaign has Mick Jagger singing our praises). I'm married with three cats (!), a former Fulbright scholar (Christ Church, Oxford), a former Jeopardy contestant (I lost), and I read Latin and Ancient Greek (my undergraduate degrees were in Classical Languages and History).

Also, I am the founder and former EIC of the DC2 (www.dc2universe.com), a long-running and thriving fan fiction community that is proud to boast, among many other talents, the above poster as a writer and editor (Hi, Ellen!).

I buy most DC titles, and all of Gail's--- but at heart, I am a fan of the Golden Age, so I have to say my favorite is Johns' relaunch of the JSA (although, the All-New Atom is probably the most fun book I've ever read--- I love Head!) (I meant that purely in the context of the character who is a disembodied... um, head) (See? Fun!)

(I also enjoy talking paranthetically, as will be obvious by now, as well as golf, No Limit Texas Hold 'em, and birdwatching (the real ones, not just BOP--- which I thoroughly enjoy as well! (see, triple parantheses! Don't try this at home!)))

Well I'm bored again, and I just realized I've never posted in this thread, so I figure I might as well officially introduce myself. I'm Kalen, as the oh so creative username no doubt clued you in, and I'm a twenty two year old guy living in Savannah, Georgia, though I'm So Cal born and bred. I'm a waiter/bartender, though the 'idea' is that's only for as long as it takes me to make it as a writer. (Hey, I've got dreamz, y'all).

I've currently got about five comic book projects in various stages of development (aiming to have a couple of first issues printed up myself so I can shove something in publishers' hands at San Diego Comic Con and then bolting before they can tell me I suck), and a novel manuscript that's even got its very own agent......but she's a friend, so that's not as impressive as it sounds, lol. But fingers crossed anyways, because really, its all about willfully naive optimism. Or something. Anyways.

My taste in comic books are pretty varied, I'll pick up everything from X-Men to Runaways to She-Hulk on the Marvel side, Shadowpact to Ion to JSA on the DC side, and from Vertigo and Image and the like I'm a fan of Fables, Lucifer, Crossing Midnight, The Walking Dead, Noble Causes, Ex Machina, etc. Also been a big Wildstorm fan ever since the original Gen 13 series, and as far as 13 year old me was concerned, screw that Wolverine guy, Backlash was the coolest EVAR!!! (Shut up, I was a weird kid. I blame my parents.) Writer wise, Simone, Vaughan, and Carey are my big three. Random, I know, but I was a big fan of Gail's YABS column back in the day, and Carey and Vaughan have said enough stuff in interviews to intrigue me that I'm always hanging out at their blogs/forums. *Shrugs*

And there you go, more info about me than anyone ever wanted to know, but what the hell. I tend to be more loquacious when drunk. And whatever, weird kid, remember?

Oh, and pirates are way cooler than ninjas. 'Nuff said.

That is all.

Hi all.

I'm Rob and I live across the pond in Brighton, England. I'm 36 and have been married for 7 years. We have two wonderfull sons.

I've read DC Comics for over 25 years started with Batman and Sgt Rock and now I have a pull list which is way to long but includes: Batman, Detectice, All New Atom, JSA, JLA, Manhunter, Superman, Blue Beetle etc.

I like posting and sharing positive view, Star Trek, Lost and supporting MUFC.
I work in an accounts department in the leisure industry.

I really dislike bigots and people that continually post the word retarded. Maybe it means something else in the US but over here its quite offensive, especially when you have a son that suffers mental and growth retardation.

I'm looking forward to lively conversation...

Heya! I'm coming back here after a long time away (sheesh almost 8 years?! Anyone even remember GL1?) I'm Cara and I'm a 37 year old mom of 2 wonderful kids ages 3 and 5 1/2. Live out in the somewhat weirdness magnet of Oregon. I'm a part-time dj for an online radio station after the kids are in bed on Monday and Friday nights. Otherwise I'm a stay at home mom aka taxi, cook, maid.

I have collected comics and action figures for a number of years. My other hobbies are writing, drawing, and making monsters. What? You don't know what making monsters is? I've been part of a haunted house now known as the 1031 Theater Troupe for the last 5 years. We put on Fright Town at the Memorial Colesium every October.

My biggest hobby next to all of that is CoH/CoV. I'm a massive addict to it. Mainly play it for the social and to fuel my writing. Sort of how I hooked up with the crew at RadioFTW.com.

Good to be here again. :)

Favorite comics currently: Mystery in Space and Birds of Prey

My name is Stefan. I run a pop-culture review site called PopSydicate.com. We've been around for almost a year and life is good.

I helped start a comic convention called CAPE with Richard Neal, Scott Kurtz and some other people and we're starting our third year this year (www.capeday.com).

I wish I had more to talk about but I'm not good at these things.

Hey guys, I'm new, so let me introduce myself!
I'm a 21 year old girl from the ass-end of Australia, (otherwise known as Tasmania) and I'm an artist and total geek.
I'm currently in the third year of my Bachelor of Fine Arts, am Vice President of my local Anime Society, am currently entered in this year's Small Press Idol competition with a story about a hot zombie chick, and I'm also illustrating a new comic project written by Christian Read.
Besides drawing and comics I enjoy playing online games, first person shooters, watching anime, singing and dancing when-ever I can, shopping, fangirling over Batman, and spending time with my wonderful partner Rowan.
I one day hope to be a professional comics artist, doing what I love! ;)
Pleased to meet you all!

Hey, my name is Alice, I'm going to be at PopSyn's CAPE 3, and I once met Ethan Van Sciver at Wizard World Texas, along with 5,000 or so other people. Contrary to popular belief, he seemed to be a fairly nice fella.

I do my comic representations in thread and fabric, just to be different. Favorite comic: Daredevil, since 1964. Not everyone can claim to be hot and 21 anymore. Sigh. At least it's been an interesting ride, ya know?
