Hello there I am new too this forum and just thought I would open with a new thread. I have been a collector for nearly a year now and have noticed some majour changes in prices with the ultimate spiderman series, when they first came out they only used too cost a few pounds but now the prices have sored. Im wondering weather this series will be as great as the amazing spiderman series was. they seem too be selling like hot cakes on ebay.

I've been getting it since issue #1 and really enjoying it.

There's definitely something to the Ultimate line...it's refreshing to see Peter back in the "old days", and although Bendis might miss the mark on occasion, he writes a convincing and entertaining 15-year old Spider-Man.
And the current arc rocks. Hard.

The book has had an arc or two that weren't as good as the rest, but hell, it's pushing 100 issues now, what do you expect? But the current arc does indeed kick ass.

What's the current arc about? All I know is Moon Knight is in it, which makes me want to pick it up, but it's almost done so I'll wait for TPB.

The lead character from MASTERS OF KUNG-FU and a badass martial artist.

Except that it's Ultimate Shang Chi in the book, so ignore all of that.

Well, right.
But he's still a badass martial artist with an evil father and a mysterious past.

I stopped liking the whole series around the Geldoff arc and havenīt been paying it any attention at all. I just found it boring and I really didnīt want to read about a young and, IMO, whiney Spider-man.

i felt the same way. i was personally tired of reading spiderman:the degrassi years. The comic moved slow and there was just too much teen drama. it was too bland and thats my opinion because the only good thing was the art.

You mean the arc that guess starred the Ultimate X-Men?! That was awesome! And I don't think he's whiny, per se. I mean, c'mon, he's fifteen! That's what they do! Fight Doc Ock, masturbate, and whine!

I've been collecting since the first issue but in TPB and I've loved every story arc. It's brilliant the way Bendis and Bagley have reinvented Spidey and his rouges gallery in this day and age. It's so popular they acually made a game off it recently and it's one hell of a bloody excellent game.

I buy this one in trades (actually, the only title I do so) in favor of the single issues.
Is it hot? More like a simmering boil, but I can dig it.

I prefer the grown up and mature guy who is a member of the Avengers and who can actually get into a fight without losing everyother time he does.

What it boils down to is do you like carefully thought out plots and character development with some kick ass action or do you like characters that grunt alot and there is nothing but action. If you think the first choice you will love ultimate spiderman
