Good for him. He's living the simple life. I'm sure he wouldn't have it any other way.

I have an immense amount of respect for Watterson. Obviously, Calvin and Hobbes in and of itself is quite an achievement and deserves accolades, but I also admire his attitude towards cartooning as an artform and the supremacy of artistic legitimacy over corporate success.

His constant refusal to merchandise based on the fact that market saturation tends to cheapen the impact of the original source artwork has more than earned him my applause.

As for the article, I'm surprised it doesn't mention his wife. I thought I read somewhere that he is married. Regardless, his personal life doesn't matter. Kudos to a great artist and it's good to know he's doing well.
