A few years ago I was part of the zany group of posters that frequented Crossgen's Meridian forum. We had a lot of fun - mostly being silly - but we shared a love for the comic called Meridian, and most of us fell in love with the world of Demetria that Barbara Kessel created for us.

Part of the fun was a debate regarding a romantic rival of the protagonist. Her name was Feabie. There were Feabie lovers (those of us that felt sorry for her unrequited pining for Jad) - and Feabie haters - those that saw her actions to get Jad's attention and affections as "backstabbing."

Anyway - I made some Feabie fan art cause I was in the Cult of Feabie (ah - web site's still up for those interested =>

Here's Feabie (the first pic is way to busty *ahem*)

Other photos linked below due to Geocity bandwidth problems

The founder of the Feabie fan club was a poster named DTjunkie, here's a pic i made as a joke for him:

Another attempt at humor:

On eof the more outspoken haters of Feabie was a poster named Kyle Rayner - so Feabs let him have it (another attempt at humor):

My favorite Tolkien story is from the Silmarillion. It’s an adventure/romantic story about a man and an elf that fall in love. The elf is a princess named Luthien, and she is actually half elf and half Maia. Maia are powerful beings (like wizards and Balrogs).

Luthien’s father (Thingol) hates the idea of his daughter being in love with a man, so he sends him on an impossible quest in order to earn his daughters hand in marriage.

Anyway – cool story – has romance, intrigue, adventure, action, and . . .A COOL DOG!

Yes – that’s right. My favorite character in the story is a supporting role played by a dog named Huan. Huan is a hunting dog of the Valar (or gods if you will). So I pictured him as a large white wolf hound (and a mythical size - about the size of a pony or small horse).

This is one of the first drawings I did one I picked up a pen a few years ago and tried to recover “my hand” form the days of my youth:

Getting the same error page here...

Sorry :o :(

Not sure what's up, other than I loaded a really big file by mistake, and probably used up all my geocities free bandwidth . . .alas . . .

I'll either edit as attachments, or upload somewhere else.

I originally intended this piece to be black and white, but just to experiment and goof around, I scanned it and added color here:

In the story, Huan submits to permitting Luthien ride on him at one point.

I tried to capture the scene here:

Ugh – I hated it. Way too stiff. And I really didn’t like the characterization.

So I googled up some dogs racing to use as reference, and did my best with Luthien – unfortunately she came out looking a little bit like a “Cambell-inspired babe” – but my drawing style lends towards an animated style so I ran with it. I’m still searching for a style.

Then I added a background.

I hate the foreground – but the mountains in the background came out kinda cool (that is . . the way I pictured and intended . . . )

Feel free to offer critiques or advice. I have a pretty thick skin, and realize these are amateur drawings. But I’d like to improve, so any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

I have some more stuff I’ll post when I get a chance.

BTW, there’s a lot of fan art on the web regarding this story by amateurs and pros alike. Here’s one of my favorites:
