“In a year when the public spotlight has cast its fickle beam along the dizzying and exciting world of superheroes, one such defender of truth and justice has broken away from the pack to become more than just a hero: he’s become a pop culture icon. Buzzscope sat down with the much-maligned and slowly emerging star for a face-to-face to get his thoughts on this new Atlantean awareness and the years of slow, simmering resentment.

BUZZ: You’re a founding member of the Justice League but have had an on-again, off-again relationship with them. In the early eighties, in fact, you disbanded the League and re-formed the team with a group of younger members. You also relocated the League to Detroit, Michigan. Why Detroit?

AQUAMAN: Well, one of the members, Hank Heywood, was based out of Detroit at the time and his fath—

BUZZ: Can you support co-founder Green Lantern’s claim that you moved it to Detroit out of personal motives, to be closer to the Great Lakes?

AQUAMAN: What— no! That’s an outright lie! Who told you that?

BUZZ: Confirm or deny that you relocated to a state surrounded by lakes for the sole possibility that you’d have more water-related cases?

AQUAMAN: Deny! That’s completely false! We fought Amazo! Half the League died at his hands!

BUZZ: And how does that rest on your conscience? The fact that members of your team died simply to satisfy your own desires to fight pirates on the banks of Lake Erie? Is that when you started getting depressed?

AQUAMAN: I’m not depressed!

BUZZ: Is that why Mera left you for a seahorse? You can tell the Buzzscope readership.

One of these days, someone's going to say "Superfriends" around him and he'll snap and tear their intestines out, and then sic sharks on every single beach & port he possibly can, creating a gigantic death toll & devastating international trade...

...and he still won't get any respect because of that bloody cartoon. Poor bugger.

The last "Take That!" was July, man. I was starting to lose hope.

I genuinely enjoyed this one. Aquaman's an easy target, but still funny.

I hope we get another edition before the end of the year, Neil.

1. This was really funny.
2. Aquaman the original was the whitest human on the planet. Whenever I see the new angry AQ, all i think is POSER.

Yeah, i had this one ready to go a while ago, but Buzzscope was retooling their editorial schedule so it waited.
