Birds of Prey-Great cover, great story, Great Bennett art, good Barrows fill in pages.

Superman-I'm so glad I decided to follow Benes to this.

Runaways-I wanted to be mad at Vaughan for taking away my favorite character, but he is just to damn good to stay mad at.

She-Hulk-So good to see this back.

Ultimate Fantastic Four-Millar does good work, Land does amazing work.

Ultimate Spider-Man-Haven't looked through it yet.

Edit: Whoops, Girls didn't ship this week because of a printing error.

Birds of Prey - Love the issue. Nice to see Babs as less of a Bitch. Great action. And the tushy cushy was priceless!!!! And it makes me wonder just why she was grinning.....

Batman - Ugh. No comment. Momma always said if I can't say something nice.....

X-men - No flippin' idea what is going on there. It went planet of the apes without someone telling me.

Manhunter - WOW!!! This is quickly becoming a top fave of mine! Great story!!!

DC.

Birds of Prey #87: Truthfully... I was a little disappointed in this. I thought we'd finally see Babs reaction to Beetle and we still haven't gotten anything yet in this title (if this is done in another title and I missed it, please tell me). There were some nice scenes with Dinah and Helena but seeing Babs so happy and still no resolution to her not finding out about Ted cast a sour note with me. Esepcially since Rucka had promised we would see some kind of resolution to this during the Crisis panel at Comic Con.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm bitching a little but after JLA #119, I thought we'd finally get something with Babs and I just haven't seen anything.

GLC Recharge #2:

Dave Gibbons has gotten much better writing GLs after The Rann/ Thanagar War. The thing about books that are co-written is I can't tell what Gibbons had brought into the story and what Geoff Johns brought into the story. I liked this issue but I didn't think it was as good as the first one. Still enjoyable.

Marvel.

Marvel Knights Spider-Man #19:

Liked the story. Didn't like the art.

Thor Blood Oath #3:

This issue is just Thor vs. Hercules and was very fun for what it was.

She-Hulk 2 #1:

Sometimes you just know you're reading a comic written by a fanboy. And that's pretty much what this was. The "monthly vs. trade" debate in the issue itself was a little too close to breaking the fourth wall. The best stuff about this issue dealt with some of the weirdness of the Marvel Universe like the TVA. (And the use of the TVA is just proof that this comic was written by a fanboy.)

This was a pretty good week for comics...

Batman Journey into Knight #3 - 1st issue was a little slow, but it's coming around now.
Hyperion #2 - Can't wait for Supreme Power to start up again.
Ult F4 #24
Ult Spidey #84 - Sharp and witty dialogue, I really like how Bendis writes this book.
X-men Colossus: Bloodline #2
Daredevil vs Punisher #5
Snake Eyes Declassified #3 - Nostalgia buy, I still love reading stories about the GI Joe ninjas.
Transformers #0
Justice #2 - Didn't know about this books publish schedule when I bought the first one. I'm enjoying it, though, and the art is amazing.
Birds of Prey #87 - This book is quickly becoming my favorite.
Green Lantern Corps Recharge #2 - I'm enjoying this book, maybe even more than Green Lantern.
She Hulk 2 #1 - Really liking Dan Slott's writing, and not just on this book.
Marvel Knights Spider-man #19 - Not a book I normally get, just picked it up for the 2nd part of The Other storyline. Enjoying the story, I like Peter David's writing.

EDIT: I forgot some.

juli hasn't gotten home with my books yet (she usually picks them up on errands on her way to work), but assuming the store didn't screw up my pull list, my books of the week should include RUNAWAYS, JUSTICE, BoP, KLARION, MANHUNTER, HYPERION and on strong reviews from Joe Rice, AMAZING JOY BUZZARDS.

I guess I'll update this later in the week when I read them all-

She-Hulk #1 I JUST finished the trades, can't wait to read this one! Love the cover.
Justice #2
Superman #222
Black Widow- The Things They Say About Her #1- didn't really dig at all.
The Ultimates Annual #1 My very first "Ultimate" book.
Fantastic Four Presents Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius VERY cute and funny, and total homage to Calvin & Hobbes.
Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis 2 #1

Batgirl, Birds of Prey & Fin Fang Four are subscribed from the sucky place that is so late with all my stuff, when I (ever?) get my stuff I'm dumping them.

I got Bop. I almost always like BoP, but I thought this one was better than usual.

Got Seven Soldiers:Klarion. I love all the Seven Soldiers books, and as usual, this was full of the new and the different.

Superman. Pretty good story, and if I'm being shallow, I can admire the very hot Lois that's found in this book.

Batgirl. Not one of the best issues, but some stuff happening that could have interesting fallout.

Top Ten :Behind the Farthest Precint. Haven't read that one yet.

Batman - Pretty good issue, that seems to set up future issues that should be better.

Robin - Obligatory battle with OMACs, but it was fun. Willingham has a lot of subplots bouncing off each other.

Manhunter - always a good read.

CURSD BLADE

Batgirl #68: Not bad. Its quite accessible (hadn't read an issue since January and I caught up quickly) and Gabrych definetly "gets" the character. Mhan's art is too exagerated for my tastes. I miss Garza's kinetic-yet grounded pencils. H U G E Cliffhanger!

Batman #646: Another home run from Winick. The plot is advanced alot in this iss and Black Mask really gets some face time. Winick is truly trying to make BM into an A-List villain and its working. Deathstroke's appearance was an unexpected twist and what a cliffhanger.

Batman: Gotham Knights #70: I check in on this title a couple times a year, just to see if Hush has actually been revealed. The last issue I picked up was #60 and here we are, ten issues later, and the plot has barely (if at all) advanced. I literally felt like I was reading issue #61. This is one poorly done book, not blaming Lieberman for that. I'm willing to bet this is the Bat-editor mandated plot. Barrionuevo's pencils are decent but bland superhero fare.

Justice #2: Amazing! Kreuger and Ross are crafting a timeless Justice League tale that is a great diversion from the IC stuff going on currently. Best written Batman tale I have read all year!

Superman #222: Mark Verheiden crafts another solid tale despite being shackled down by IC tie-ins. The Lois-Clark-Superman relationship is explored to great effect and Benes draws one smoking hot Lois Lane. Ed's angular pencils lend themselves well to the wide-screen, chaotic action of the issue. I love this creative team. Joe Prado does some pages as well, did anybody else see a slight Alan Davis influence in his pencils? Good issue.

Captain Atom: Armageddon #1: Haven't read yet

Marvel Knights Spider-Man #19: Emotionally engaging look at Peter and MJ's relationship wrapped up in a crossover that is actually interesting. Too bad Pat Lee's exagerated, sloppy, manga art gets in the way big time.

Ultimate Fantastic Four #24: Haven't read yet

Ultimate Spider-Man #84: Another solid installment from the best creative team around. Very action oriented issue.

GLC Recharge #2: Once again, Dave Gibbons' Green Lanters are much more interesting than Johns' Hal Jordan. Each Green Lantern has a spark, a personality to them. I'm not liking the art very much at all, but Gibbons' work is stellar. Geoff Johns should be paying attention.

Oh, and MOGO!

Superman #222: Picked this up on a whim, as I want to follow it to #225, and boy was I unimpressed. I thought the plot discredited Supes in many ways (even seemed contrary to Sacrifice, not to mention Simone's portrayal of Supes, as well as Rucka's portrayal). I'll follow it for a few months, but the writing just didn't impress me. Lois was fairly good, though, and the art was very cool indeed.

- Astro City - Great ending to the first story arc and FINALLY we find out what happened to the Silver Agent.

- Klarion The Witch Boy - This book has some happenin' artwork in it, and it wrapped up well, too. Not as many tie-ins with the other 7S stuff, for some reason.

- Shaolin Cowboy - Lovely Geoff Darrow artwork, bi-monthly. Still fabulous-looking, but this one was a little long on talk for my taste.

- Lucifer - Shaping up to be a really interesting finale. Mike Carey is the king of the quick left turn in the middle of a plot point.

Also, I've been buying the Alan Moore Swamp Thing books in trade because I desperately wanted to reread them and my originals are old and faded, and they're even better than I remember them b/c the colors are so much brighter and more vivid in the trades. There's a word balloon missing here and there, and DC took a page out of "Love and Death" in the 80's and never put it back (page 9 from ST #31, if anyone's keeping score), but other than that, they're SPLENDID. The "Swamp Thing Invades Gotham City" episode from "Earth to Earth" is worth the price of admission alone.

Selina, the Black Widdow comic, is it new? Anything else been put out since her last mini?

My Comics This Week:
1. BoP! The Bomb, Yo! Seriously, this book is so sweet! Did you see the split in Barb's gown? That was so you, Gail. The story was 110% I'm really liking Zinda, and at first I was iffy. Calculator vs. Oracle!!! Perfect! Hey, did anyone else notice Jack Nicolson playing with Rubic Cubes on the cover?

2. Batman: Great set up for the next book. Good pace. I like Red Hood.

3. Gotham Knights: Haven't read yet.

4. Superman 222 was good. Yeah, Benes could draw on a men's room wall, and it'd be the best art out there. I'm liking the writer more and more. (won't even try to spell his name)

5. Robin: Hope it doesn't suck.

6. Batgirl: Haven't read, like the storyline, iffy about Tim Sale. I used to like him, but now, he's getting to me. Guess I changed.

7. Punisher/Daredevil: Haven't read, but plan on it after they all come out.

8. CSN: I just love these free little papers.

Love, Peace, and Chicken Grease!

I purchased this week,in no real order:

Birds of Prey 87(i liked it,especially Calculators thoughts. And the tushy cushy =) )
Nich Fury's Howling Commandos 1 (Did not enjoy it,which is a shame. I still could not tell if they Legion of Living Lightning members were human or not. They certainly didn't look it).
Ultimate Fantastic Four 24 (Sue's talk with her mom was the highlight of this issue to me,very realistic and shows how well she can see thru people, literally).
Conan 21 (Still a good title and good art!)
Runaways 9 (I HEART this title. Alot. The End)
Freshman 3 (Enjoyed, but was not happy about the ending to this issue...)
Ghost Rider 1 Directors Cut ( I really LOVED seeing how Garth does a pitch and seeing the script to the issue..it's very rewarding to see how comics get made, least from a writer's standpoint. More of the art process would of been more enjoyable thou...)
Fin Fang Four 1 (I didn't want to buy this..but i did pre-order it for some reason..and i was glad..it didn't make me laugh, and i still hate the idea of these four being comedy rejects((especially Fin..who i always liked)),but it did make me smile a bit. )
Ultimate Spider-Man 84 (THIS was FUN...but i wanted more..and if they kill Iron Fist or Shang Chi i will be very unhappy.)
Astro City, the Dark Age 4 (Very Intersting, and worth the wait for the read.)
Supreme Power:Hyperion 2 (JMS doing time travel. Since to this day,i have seen NO ONE do time travel in a television series better than JMS(from B5),i am eagerly awaiting how he deals with this..)
Marvel Knights Spider-Man 19 (I also enjoy Peter David's writing alot,so this is a very good month for me. Enjoying the Other so far,as i get all three spiderman titles, this crossover is perfect.) GAIL! This is THE book for you! Honestly! With its yearly creator changes,it would be the perfect book to pitch to!
X-Men 176 (Sigh. Thou i too enjoy seeing Old School Villans and making them great again..this wasn't it. Seeing Storm and Black Panther bicker like children wasn't fun either)
She-Hulk 1( THIS book i enjoyed..and it is so nice to see Mr Slott pick up plots that used Jen from other books such as the Avengers...)
Justice 2 (Liked it ALOT more than the first issue, and the last page with Braniac made me shudder. I really FEAR for Aquaman right now).

Those are the books that stood out for me. Several good books, but only two that really disapointed me. I would have to rate it a good week. =)

And Gail..please..More Zinda! =)

Mmm, slow week for me, mainly because my local is having trouble with customs lately. So all my stuff is a few days late.

BoP #87: 'Istanbul (not Constantinople)'. I have had mental images of the Muppets singing that in my head all day. I hope you're happy Gail, you're well in the fore to send me to therapy. And you're competing with lunatics. Congratulations!
But otherwise, I loved this issue. It kills me I have to wait another month for new ones.

Batgirl #69: Eh, I could go either way on this. I started to pick it up around the start of this arc, just because I love Lady Shiva and... no, wait, it's just because I love Lady Shiva. I think I'm not a big Cass/Batgirl fan. Which is surprising, because I loved her when I first picked up the 'A Knight Alone' trade...oh, wait, that was Lady Shiva too. Never mind.

However, I am looking forward to next month's Batgirl versus Lady Shiva versus Mr. Freeze versus the League of Assassins versus ZOMBIES versus unfrozen crazy Nora Freeze versus hypothermia versus crazy undead hypothermia versus monkeys? Monkeys have to feature somewhere. I demand it.

Runaways #9 - The only Marvel title I get with any regularity. CLOAK AND DAGGER ARE BACK! It almost makes up for Karolina leaving with the Skrull girl/boy/thing last issue. Almost. Vaughan took my favourite character away, so he's got hella making up to do. But I enjoyed this one. I was all like 'Oh Nico, you know you love Karolina. Pawing through her clothes while she's off saving yours, hers and the Skrull's worlds prove that you're either crazy or crazy...in love!'

Please forgive my fangirl.

And finally - Justice #2: I don't know why I'm picking up this book, I think I have a crush on Alex Ross's art. I mean, I don't know if I'm missing the story because it's just not computing or if I manage to pick up these things when I've had a long day and can't think without wine, but it's just not penetrating. Except the art. Oh the art. Riddler's 'Vegas in a trenchcoat' slays me, and I adore how Ross paints Ivy. He's got the whole 'subtle insanity' down so well. I heart you, Alex Ross. Even if you can be a bit of a bitch sometimes.

I got Justice #2 this week. Between the simple "Super-friends"-esque story and the Batman files at the end— its a nice intro to the DCU.

There I got:

Batman #646
LotDK #196
Batgirl #69
Birds of Prey #87
Robin #143

I make no promises about when I'll read them... okay, I'll read the BoP as soon as I open the box, but that's it. There is levelling up to do. Now if you'll all excuse me, I'm gonna go play CoH... and wait impatiently for CoV to arrive on my doorstep.

She-Hulk #1: Glad to see this back. Great title that has a balance of humour, action and characterization. New reader friendly, yet very rewarding to the loyal readers who have been with the book since Slott's run started.

Runaways: Another solid issue. I didn't care for the art on the last two-issue arc, but the dialogue is always sharp and the book always has a direction.
