About YOUNG AVENGERS? Glad to do so.
YOUNG AVENGERS is, in my opinion, the best regular-series to premiere from DC or Marvel since RUNAWAYS. It features a group of super-heroed teenagers, some of whom have tangential connections to some of the classic Avengers. They get drawn together by odd circumstances and have adventures which are fun in the classic Marvel style. Allen Heinberg writes the book with style and confidence, and the art has been solid (the first arc was drawn by Jim Cheung). This feels a lot more like a classic Marvel book than do many of today's Marvel books, and I mean that in a good way - solid characterization, superhero action, humor and heroism mixed together. The book draws on and is respectful to Marvel's rich history without being obsessed with continuity minutae. For example, the first arc features Kang, in the least-complicated Kang story of probably the past 25 years.
Let's see... what else? Some of the classic Marvel characters are ongoing guest-stars, as is Jessica Jones (from ALIAS). Two of the main characters are gay, and this is handled with tact and a good bit of humor.
I really can't recommend it highly enough. Great book so far. If you like the other books recommended in my sig and have even the least interest in Marvel, I think you'll like YOUNG AVENGERS a lot.

Oh, can I? Can I? Can I? It is my favorite title right now.
The best way to describe the feel is:
Teen Titans is what if the captain of the football team, head cheerleader, class president and class clown got super powers.
Legion of Super Heroes is what if the drama club got super powers.
Runaways is what if the breakfast club got super powers.
And Young Avengers is what if the guys who hang out at comic book shops and play dungeon and dragons got super powers.
The team is basically a bunch of super powered teenagers who want to be just like their heroes, the Avengers. The Avengers, on the other hand, don't want to be liable for these kids to get hurt in their name.
The writer, Allen Heinberg, has a great balance of humor, drama and good old fasioned cartoon action (he reminds me of Gail Simone a bit in this reguard). He is also great at giving us surprises and great cliff hangers and keeping the readers guessing. We still don't know the origins of most of the team except that they have some link to the avengers. They have two really strong female characters, by the way: Cassie Lang who is the daughter of ANtman who recently died, and Kate Bishop who became a super hero because somebody told her that she couldn't be.
How much do you want spoiled? I am reluctant to tell you anything more if you are going to get issues 1-6, which I highly recommend.

Sounds good, any idea when the trade hits? Or has it come out already? Either way, I'll try to get caught up and add it to my pull-list.

I don't usually like Marvel at all and I just added this title to my pull list after reading someone else's issues. I do read Runaways too though. It's really fun. The whole hardcover-only thing is evil though.
