View Full Version : Captain Britain #1 & Captain Britain #1
I ordered Captain Britain #1, the 1985 Jamie Delano & Alan Davis comic from Mile High Comics. But, Mile High Comics, by mistake, sent me the 1976 Captain Britain #1! Well, this is one mistake I will not frown upon. No, I will take it in stride. I was going to get the first appearance of Captain Britain eventually. I just did not expect to get it so soon.
The 1976 Captain Britain (with mask) runs about $30.00 more than what I paid for the 1985 Captain Britain #1. I will just buy the 1985 Captain Britain #1 at a later date...

I never get lucky when buying comics online. I'm happy as long as the book arrives in the condition it's advertised as.

I haven't had too many bad experiences with "real online retailers," but private sellers... That's another story. Actually, that hasn't been TOO bad, either, but I remember getting an AoA book that the seller neglected to mention had been folded in half. That's right, the spine never had a chance.
I was so hard-up for AoA stuff, back then, that I might've jumped on it, anyway... but it's nice to have a choice.
wow. Congrats.
I was disappointed that I did not get the 1985 Captain Britain #1, but I realized how rare the 1976 Captain Britain #1 is so I am not one to complain.
I was looking forward to getting the 1985 Captain Britain #1 to complete my series from the Captain's 1985 series though.

Who drew the 1985 #1?
I'm guessing he wasn't wearing the cool-ass costume-complete-with-helmet he had for most of the Excalibur run. Do you know when he started wearing that?

Alan Davis designed the new helmeted costume which first appeared when he took over the “Captain Britain” strip in Marvel Super-Heroes #377.
I believe Herb Trimpe was the first artist on the strip, but I'm not positive about that.

Herb Trimpe drew the first 8 issues then left along with writer, Chris Claremont.

Yes, Captain Britain wore his revamped costume for his 1985 Captain Britain series.

One of the coolest super-hero costumes out there, imho.

Hmm. You get a more valuable, but incredibly awful comicbook. That Claremont/Trimpe series was unbelievably bad. Even in my rabid, buy just about anything Marvel, stage, which coincided with that coming out, I couldn't stomach more that a couple of issues.
I'd much, much rather have had the classic Moore/Davis series, never mind the "value" of the other one.

As a kid (I was 8 in 75) I remember being overjoyed we were getting our own super hero.I bought the comic the day it came out (and crappy mask) and absolutely hated it.Marvel uk was reprinting alot of classic Marvel stuff at the time and this comic wasn't in the same league.I had the chance to read it again recently and I still don't like it.
I hope to get 1985's Captain Britain #1 soon near the end of the month.
