Actually what the title of this thread describes could be applied to quite a few battles that have yet to happen, the best example would be the Fantastic Four vs. the U-Foes. But this time I´m talking about Spider-man vs... Just look at the picture below, as you´ve probably already done.

That´s right! Spidey will face off with the one person in Marvel that can beat him the trash-talk department. The Merc without a Mouth aka Deadpool! When, in what comic and why? January 2006, Cable and Deadpool and it´s friggin Spider-man vs. friggin Deadpool, who cares why!?

Absolutley awsome.
I actually clicked on this thread expecting to see something lame involving Morlun or Green Goblin or something.
This is exactly what i was hoping for in the best case scenario.
Now if we can get the NFL SuperPro vs Captain Ultra, I'll be all set.

There's only one way to respond to this news...
"Yay, yay, now is fighty time, fighty time, blood blood blood..."

Eh?
Guess I'm in the Marvel fan minority on this one.

YES! The only problem is that my lame-O book/comic store probably won't have it.

I really hope they reference that time Deadpool went back in time and took Spider-man's place.

This actually happened? Crazy stuff.
In a battle with the Lighting Rods (Also knowns as the Great Lakes Avengers, and The Great Lakes X-men) Deadpool and Blind Al were thrown back in time and they ended up landing ontop of AUnt May in her house.
Blind Al disguised herself as May, and Deadpool used his image inducer to look like Peter Parker. Essentially, they inserted new artwork into an old Spider-man issue and had Deadpool interacting with Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy, and fighting Kraven the hunter. Probably one of my favorite Deadpool issues ever.

This promises to be extremely funny, but I don't see much of a fight coming out of it. Wade is about as outclassed as outclassed can be.

That's never stopped him before!
I'm not too terribly excited by this news, but I'm sure I'll check the issue out anyway.
If nothing else, it is worth getting for that cover. Beautiful.

Hey! Another comic with Wolverine and Spider-Man in it! And they fight too!
No seriously, does Wade always bust out the Wolverine claws now?

That's a sai, I think. He's just holding it that way to mimic Raphael. :)

CABLE/DEADPOOL #24
COVER BY: PATRICK ZIRCHER
WRITER: FABIAN NICIEZA
PENCILS: PATRICK ZIRCHER
It’s DEADPOOL vs. SPIDER-MAN!
Aaaaieee!
It’s the wisecracking face-off of a lifetime—a veritable smart#$% smackdown!
Heh heh, clever.
What brought them together?
Who cares?!
We’re not telling!
Fine!
Who will win?
Who cares?!
Hopefully, Spidey, since at the least he’d let DP keep breathing.
Heh heh, good point!
Wait—what’s that you ask?
...I didn't ask anything.
Of course there’s a REASON why they’re fighting...and it’s guaranteed to make sense!
Aw, that'll be a welcome break... ;)
But does it matter?
No!
It’s DEADPOOL vs. SPIDER-MAN!!
Yeah!
Please, hold your applause.

Needless to say, that's my "must read" book of the month for January, and will probably be the most entertaining single issue for the first part of 2006. Damn, that looks great. :D
I hope this issue brings Spider-Man fans onboard Cable/Deadpool for the long haul. This is really the funnest read on the racks, and I've been promoting it since Doom Hammer first introduced me to it. It's definitely a "word-of-mouth" book, so pick it up, enjoy the hell out of it, keep reading it, and pass it on.
This promises to be extremely funny, but I don't see much of a fight coming out of it. Wade is about as outclassed as outclassed can be.
Really? What about Deadpool's massive arsenal of weapons? Or his healing factor that trumps Wolverine's? Or his complete disregard for human life? Those won't help at all?

There should be at least 3 pages of nothing but word balloons of these guys trash-talking each other.
Actually, the entire fight should be obscured by word balloons, and then them both looking exhausted at the end.

I've been wanting to see this battle for a long time. I'm more excited to see the dialogue exchanged between the two than the actual fight.

Deadpool Vol. 3 #0
I believe it came with Wizard. I picked it up with a whole over bunch of free #0's off ebay for a few £.
It was just a bit of (crazy) fun. I don't think many people would consider it cannon but I like bringing it up. :D

With that said, lets bring out the butterscootch and browies and celebrate this joyeous announcment!:D

This should not be a great fight..
DP is an overrated super-ninja (without a spider-sense)
Spiderman beat Firelord by freaking out, and hitting him with so much speed that it was over on the ground..
He basically stopped swinging away from the flying Herald, and attacked him on the ground.
Guns and Ninja Stars won't hit Peter.. He's too fast, and aware.
Other than more special devices and powers I just don't see this being so great unless the writer skews the fight a bit.

Hardly. Deadpool is immortal, completely resistant to pain, healing factor, teleportation, plus mad ninja skills. Even if Spidey can beat him, DP will keep coming back forever.

What you forget is that skewing the fight is exactly how Deadpool fights. When he realized that Taskmaster would beat him by using DP's own moves against him, he used totally random movements that were not actually fighting styles to beat him. So, while I'm not saying DP will beat Spidey, it could make for an interesting fight, especially since Fabian is writing it.

Yeah, you could do that, too. Take all the fun out of a confrontation that's years in the making.
If you can't recognize this greatness...READ SOME DEADPOOL! That Cab;e guy's alright, too.
