Just making a public pronouncement of appreciation for everyone's favorite Jumble and Name that Cover guru, Lone Ranger.
Consider me surprised when I come home from a long crappy day in the office after what I'd judge as a crappy unmemorable birthday, and a package from Toronto awaits.
Inside is a pretty Golden Age book from 1941, Crackajack Funnies #34, with an awesome front cover starring the Owl.
Nothing like getting a Golden Age book from out of the blue, particularly an early superhero book.
Scott, you are the MAN. I return the favor in spades when the little one comes along.....

It's a long distance relationship, you know how those are.
Toronto to D.C., D.C. to Toronto. The times I have pined away for Scott in the Red Carpet Lounge waiting on stand-by have been some of the toughest times in my life.
But we'll always have Don Heck. Noone can take that away from us. Noone.

where i come from, it means they've gotta get married.
unless they're cousins. in which case the presumption is that they're already married.

Ray - you are most welcome. Thanks for the kind words.
Sorry for the delay in replying - I just got back to the office from a two-day investment funds conference out of town. Too many phrases like "hedge funds" and "soft dollars" - I am sure you know the pain, Ray.
I am glad that you received it safe and sound.
When Ray was up here in Toronto earlier in the year, we had a great time and I learned that he collected just about anything old. And by old, I mean really, really old. He was digging through bins looking for anything that looked pre-1945, and preferably from the 30s. It didn't seem to matter what title, what publisher or anything like that - he just gets a kick out of books from the early days of funny books.
I thought that this one would be right up your alley.
Anyway, I am glad that it brought some sunshine to an otherwise tough day.
