I'm really diggin' the Neverwhere books. They go right along with the novel, but they're updated in certain parts. The guys are doing a great job on the story. By-the-way, what would you do if you were in Mathew's position? Just curious.

Richard Mayhew? Well, he seems to live in this world of denial for the first big chunk of the story which puts him pretty much just in their way and not of much help. That is something I would try to overcome a little quicker to get my bearings and help out a little more. Then again, it is a pretty wacked out place. Who knows how I'd react.

And I like the way they have handled it so far. I like the visualization that Fabry has given the world of Lower London. The colors, visualizations, etc. After seeing the BBC movie with its shoe-string budget and all (which I thought was great, BTW) it is nice to see a comic adaptation where images of beasts and people and places can be expanded and in some places completely re-thought. A big thmbs up. I look forward to seeing the rest.

I wonder what Islington will look like.

I enjoyed the book and the BBC DVD so...

although I'm not buying this series, I probably will be picking if (yeah right), WHEN it comes out in hardcover.

I think it sucks so far.

To expand upon that statement...

I'm just not digging the art. Not at all. I love Fabry's stuff on covers, and the occasional serial stuff I've managed to pick up, but this one just doesn't feel right. I'm not big on his interpretations of most of the characters, especially Door, who is packing at least DD breasts. And the beast looks ridiculous, no more so than the BBC series, but still pretty poor imo.

I also don't like some of the choices that Carey made in adapting it. The mini doesn't have the same feel of the book. It's not dark when it should be dark and not really fun when it should be fun, yet.

I'll buy it anyways because I'm doing thesis work on Gaiman, but I'm not enjoying it much so far.
