Something (probably really stupid) just occured to me.

Why does Barbara have to recover use of her legs to be Batgirl/Batwoman?

I mean, Professor X had a rocket-powered wheelchair with missiles, didn't he?

No offence to anyone in a wheelchair, but it just wouldn't be as cool.

Nah, she'll get injected with Langstrom's Man-Bat formula. She'll still be wheelchair bound except when the formula takes over, heals her legs through the transformation process, and she flies around going "Skreeek!"

My guess is that it is going to be Babs, given that Dan Didio dropped his hint about "only if Dick asked her to"

and we already know that in the one year later DCU

Dick is Batman in case you havent heard the rumours. And Bats is in the looney bin. Suppose he needs help, who would he ASK to be Batwoman? Makes sense to me given the hint from Dan Didio...

I wierdly can't see Bruce going into the nuthouse. It appears he would have went crazy after Jason Todd returned but he hasn't. What happens in " One Year Later " to do this ? He actually loses Alfred or someone closer to him ?

If Babs regains superhero-style use of her legs and becomes Batwoman, I will beat my head against the wall until Batwoman goes away.

I'm willing to be persuaded, I suppose, but the prospect of Babs as Batwoman really doesn't interest me at all.

Yeah..crazy...riiiight. Remember when Green Lantern was "crazy"? Then he was "dead"? Yeah, he got better.

I keep thinking it'd be AWESOME to have Babs be Batgirl, and Cassie be her sidekick. I've even gone so far as to draw fanart of it. I hope it's the case. Still, more Babs is awesome either way

I think the new Batwoman's going to be Black Canary. She already is kinda in the Bat family, telling Batman off and being on a team with Oracle/Batgirl and Huntress. Besides, when you think of high pitched screaming in the real animal world do you think of a Canary? Nay I say, you think of a Bat using it's sonic scream!

So yeah, Black Canary = new Batwoman. Boo yah! :)

Uuuuugh. I vehemently HATE the idea of the possibility of Babs being Batwoman. I just don't understand the point of her going back to "being a Bat" after she's made such a name for herself as Oracle. I pretty much hate the idea of Dick turning into Batman as well for the same reasons. (Not that he's made a name for himself as a kick ass chick hacker named Oracle, though... ;) )

Although, I guess I should note that the wheelchair has nothing to do with it. Babs can be Oracle just fine with or without the wheelchair. But darnit, she should stay Oracle!

Babs just looked wickedly cool in a bat-suit, but she is actually so much more important in the large DC universe scop as Oracle, than she ever was back when she was doing cartwheels on penguins nose. And she knows that. I don't see why she would don the spandex even if she did get use of her legs back...

I really dislike the idea. Right now she is a unique and useful character, and she throws it away to be another superhero?


SImilarly, I hope neither Black Canary or Huntress get it. Currently they are individuals, why become a Batman derivative?

I love the idea of having Cass as her sidekick (she'd better keep her suit!). I also love the idea of it being Huntress, but look at her stint as Batgirl in NML. I've always been a big Huntress fan, though. Don't you think that Babs will be in the chair some, too? I think so, especially at first. Hey, a comment on her value to the DCU: I miss when she would really help out with info for the whole JLA. I always thought that was the level she deserved. I like BoP, but every now and then she could give help.
