A "sexy, funny" spin-off from the Doctor Who television series, is to be made by BBC Wales and set in Cardiff.

The 13-part sci-fi drama will be called Torchwood - an anagram of Doctor Who. Russell T Davies will also write and co-produce the "paranoid thriller".

Torchwood, which is aimed at adults, stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack - one of the main characters from the recent Doctor Who series.

The drama features investigators solving human and alien crime.http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40916000/jpg/_40916956_jacktardis300.jpg

HOLY CARP.

This probably means Jack's not coming back to the main series (pity, coz with the Captain name he'd have rocked in a pirate historical ep) but damn if this isn't better. 13 episodes of Captain Jack! In Wales! Woooo!

He's in season 2, and there can be Who/Torchwood crossovers.

Speaking of Dr. Who, does anyone know when the new season starts?

Christmas Special on Boxing Day apparently and the new series will probably start about the same time as last years.

Nothing has been confirmed I think but this is the 'expected' start date.

Like with the new Who, I'll have to wait for the DVDs.

Probably with Jack deciding he likes Cardiff and thinking he's more use to them than to Rose and the Doc.

He couldn't manage it for scheduling.

As long as they keep the slapstick and farting down I reckon it'll be a winner
