see identity crisis issue 1. then see infinite crisis issue 1.
when she's in IDC, she looks older than father time, now in IC where she's talking to superboy, she looks like an old version of oracle.

Nah, something more pedestrian -- time getting overwritten.
The former was Byrne Martha, who was changed into Birthright Martha when time was rebooted after Superman #200.

Might as well say that Jimmy Olsen also got dipped into Lararus Pit as he became a teenager overnight in Byrne/Gail Action comics. :D

There is no rule about how to draw Martha Kent. some times is older, sometimes younger, and happens since Byrne revamp.

You see, Superboy-Prime punched The Source Wall really, really hard, so had a DCU brainfart and....
A wizard did it.
It's magic. We don't have to explain it.

Ma and Pa Kent are both Skrulls.
Or Manhunters.
or White Martians.
You heard it here first.

IIRC, she got more "Annette O'Toole" looking during Birthright.

Maybe they're trying to align her more closely with the Smallville/ Annette O'Toole version ?

After Lois & Clark premiered, they updated Ma Kent's look to match the actress who portrayed her there. It's nothing new, although the Birthright change was more jarring than a different hairstyle and weight loss.

And back then, they also incorporated the change into the story. The "Smallville" Kents just started appearing in the stories unannounced.
Still, it was cool to see Pa Kent tooling around Smallville in the General Lee.

IIRC, they did something similar in the old Superboy book, back in the 60's. When the cartoon was launched, they made the Kents younger, and so the Kents in the comics became younger too. I believe that there was an explanation about aliens creating a TV show based upon Superboy, and the execs wanting a younger set of parents, so they rejuvenated Ma and Pa, to match the TV versions. I think that's it.

Pre-Birthright Martha and Jonathan were pretty old when they found Clark let alone after he grew up. Mark Waid made the Kents young enough to actually be Clark's parents instead of grand parents.
It's no big deal now for younger couples to adopt kids so there didn't need to be any cover story of them being too old or trying to pass the baby off as theirs.
You can also notice the sudden change in the trade paperback of Teen Titans with Superboy Kon El. The Kents that Conner goes to live with at the beginning are much older than the Kents he goes back to at the end of the arc.
But as everyone has pointed out, characters often get changed to match popular versions in other media.

Just blame it on superboy prime reality punch. Pa & Ma Kent should thank Superboy/man prime , the more he punch , the younger they got.
Pa Kent now look young enough that he can probably date Lana Lang and not looked out of place.

Superman flew around them backwards and reversed time.
He really needs to stop doing that.
