i dropped comics after vailant got raped by acclaim in 95. now i found my way back into comics but vailant has vanished. i enjoyed the characters and the rich potential of the universe.
So what happened? can anybody supply some details?
and is their the slightest chance of a comeback?
thx!

Welcome to CBR, sherlock. I should warn you, though, that many people here consider it offensive to use the word "rape" in a non-literal sense. I would advise you to avoid doing so.
Here's a site (http://www.valiantcomics.com/valiant.asp) that could have the information you're looking for.

My knowledge of the company that was Acclaim is partially second hand, partially direct. A google search can get you a lot of history on the company. This is one (http://www.valiantcomics.com/valiant/whathapval.asp) that I found a few minutes ago that on quick glance covers a lot of high level information. For deeper delving into the darker aspects and soap box intrigue of venture capital business endeavours they have a more detailed history (http://www.valiantcomics.com/valiant/valiantdays.asp) .
From my comic fan viewpoint, Valiant was the start of a solid comic company, but when Accalim purchased first a game company in Salt Lake City (for too much money) and then the Valiant Comic Book Enterprise (also for too much money) they got themselves into a cash flow situation that coupled with the decline of the comic book industry squeezed their comic publishing but left them with Turok as an interesting vehicle for video game development.
From my game programming viewpoint, they had some tremendous properties, and solid market share, but lost direction, steam, and didn't keep up with the hotter aspects of game design, and lacked the organizational skills to grow their properties in the same manner as a Final Fantasy or Warcraft franchise.
