This isn't the Volume 3 we're getting in America, which is a glorified sketchbook. This is the third story volume, premiering in Europe soon. Check out this amazing stuff:

More beautiful art previews:

Mix a little manga with a little Humberto Ramos, and you get Terada for a book loosely translated to "Small World:"

Check out the detail on the sixth page of that one. Wow.

A completely different cartoony art style:

The White Tigress has bits of Toth or Sakai or something in there:

How about a fantasy series? Sadly, this is just the cover. Reminds me a touch of Wendy and Richard Pini's stuff, actually.

Check out the background shots in the jungle and the establishing shot of the city in this one:

It looks like the book was originally released in two volumes, but you can now buy an omnibus edition of both books, along with 16 new pages of material. Good to see the French market isn't all that different from our own. . .

Something done with paints and some photo reference, but with the worst lettering I've seen in a BD yet:

Pay special attention to the cover designs on these albums. They're very different from American comics, and very effective.

More cute looking Euro-comics. This one is MELUSINE:

It's a cartoony series about a witch. Very cute art, and a really funny gag page over here:

http://www.dupuis.com/servlet/jpecat?pgm=VIEW_PLANCHE&lang=FR&OUVRAGE_ID=3103&NPAG=1

I think the page most impressed me because my beginner's French was enough to "get" it.

In any case, click on the first link and then choose one of the 13 album titles to see preview pages.

Yeah, PERCEVAN (http://www.glenat.com/dyn/glenat/pagesasp/02foreignrights/fiche.asp?idarticle=91000&EDITEUR=088) is delightful. BTW, I don't know if you're aware that in 1996 the first 3 volumes (http://rik.eric.free.fr/percevan/langues.html#Americain) of this series were reprinted in English by Fantasy Flight Publishing (http://www.milehighcomics.com/comicindex/Publisher-Fantasy-Flight-Publishing-FFP.html), along with some other Euro-classics like Spirou or Valerian.

Here you repeat the same Percevan link but you're talking about something else. By your description, could it be The Revenge of Count Skarbek, recently featured (the first volume) in Heavy Metal?

Ack! Next time I link to something, I need to remember to specifically point to a title so I can double check it later. I don't remember which series I was linking to anymore, but it wasn't that one. The computer lettering in that one, though, is fairly awful -- it all bunches up so much. Very ugly.

I would love to track down SPIROU in English. Or JOJO for that matter. Or MARSUPILAMI. Or-- nah, the list is too long.
