A marketing guy with an animated fantasy adventure show to sell wanted to know what the big cons of 2006 are for promoting media stuff (as opposed to comics). Outside of Comicon which he knew about, I just said the various Wizard cons throughout the year.

Are there other cons that have a big media presence (as in film panels and trailers)? And when are they?

Tad,

The biggest trade show for TV and Film is:
NATPE International
National Association of TV Production Executives
310-453-4440
800-628-7346

Virtually everybody who wants to buy or sell a show or movie shows up there. It's full of heavy-hitters and if your friend has no contacts in the business he/she has to be very aggressive.

Also go to this website:
www.producers.masterguide.com/globalmedia/markets.html
.com/globalmedia (this is what's not showing)

It lists all the major shows with links.

Has he tried going to the SciFi network? They will accept new concepts but it must be submitted by an agent, not your friend.

Starz Cable Network has a teen channel that's doing a lot of sci-fi anime.
Your friend might try contacting them as well.

If I can be of any further help, please don't hesitate to PM or e-m me.

Mist/Heather

thanks but you misunderstand. He's a professional but as part of the marketing hype he wants to hit the major comic conventions, pacing promotions, give aways, panels, screenings etc. throughout the year, building up to Comicon.

I'll add Dragon Con in the mix. It gets a huge number of visitors and the fans that show up there are much more vocal than what I saw at my first SDCC.
