As you all probably know there is a huge Spiderman cross-over about to take place.

But my question is:
Will it be any good?

also, having never read any of the Spiderman titles involved in it before will I get it?/enjoy it? or is it mostly for consistant readers?

last question:
I only intend to get the Other tie-ins(if I get it),and don't intend to carry on the series,is it really worth it?

How can we know if it's any good before it's been released?

It all kicks off in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, with the very first issue. Peter David is writing it, along with the next 2 parts, in MK Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man. I would recommend getting at least those 3. I think it will be geared more towards long term fans to be honest, although I am sure you will get something out of it as a newbie.

I don't know why but the minute I first read this event being announced on the net I just knew it would be a brilliant event even now when I will pick up the first part this Thursday I have faith in it. I just love crossovers!

I only have faith in Peter David and JMS part of the story. I don't like Reginald Hudlin involvement. His writing is bland and makes too many continuity errors. Hes the only person who will probably make the event a piece of crap.

Is this pre or post House of M?

Probably Pre-House of M, though it won't make much of a difference, continuity-wise.

Super Sonic, if you're planning on picking this up, you might want to pick up the Amazing Spider-Man: Coming Home trade by JMS/Romita JR. It has at least some of the back story leading up to this one..

Its post HoM has to be, HoM was sposed to be over this month for one thing, and he obviously didn't go through major changes in the mini.

I flipped throught he preview of this btw, it def is a disease of sorts as seen in the last spiderman. I don't think Im really spoiling anything, but allls I know is he gets bad news from the doc or something at the end, Didn't read it though just flipped through it

Yeah, same here. But I trust that JMS and PAD will make this good, hopefully Hudlin can't mess it too badly.

I'm extremely interested in this "The Other" arc. I think it's going to be great, but no one can say for sure. I'd say just pick up the first issues and see for yourself. It's not like you'll be out a lot of money.

I don´t know how good it will be but I´m intrested and as a great Spider-man fan I´m getting all the issues, this is Hudlin´s last chance to impress me.

Well, he's leaving MK:SM after the event is over. :D

And for those who were wondering, The Other takes place after House of M.

Actually, the next writer was already announced. It's the guy who writes MK 4, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Angel Medina is doing the art.

I haven't read it myself. I've heard some mixed reviews about it but most people seem to think he'll do better than Hudlin (which of course isn't hard at all).

Yes, it is. MK4 is probably the best of the FF books right now, and apparently he is doing some solid work on Nightcrawler too.

I've never been a big fan of Spider-Man, but I picked up FNSM (because of PAD). I didn't realize that it was a crossover until I got home, but I'm going to stick with it since I'm reading so few monthlies as is.

I bought the issue, but only because my shop was giving away free FNSM posters with the book.

I don't read Nightcrawler. Didn't know Aguirre was writing it. But yes, MK4 is the best FF book out. Has been for awhile. Impossible Man and Impossible Woman are in the new ish. Great stuff, and can't-wait cliffhanger!

Will I buy his Spider-Man? Probably. I love Spidey, but JMS made it unreadable with the Totem arc, which prompted me to drop the book after that arc ended. Organic webbing and Sins Past made my decision to drop Spidey a sound one. I believe in Aguirre's ability to write a great Spider-Man.

I hope it comes through. This will be my first big Spider-Man story from the beginning and with the X-Men going the 198 route, it will have my full attention.

Yes, it is. MK4 is probably the best of the FF books right now, and apparently he is doing some solid work on Nightcrawler too.

I'm always glad to see the F4 get some love, they are sorta under-rated to me it would seem. I find them way more interesting than the Homo superior, fer instance. But I disagree that MK4 is the best F4 book. I'd say Ultimate F4 is better right now. But I do pick up MK4 on occasion (after a quick 'flip through'), and it is a quality book (but Franklin takin' down Ramades with a softball swing? C'mon. - Otherwise great arc.).

I think Aguirre-Sacasa could be a good fit for Spidey, and what little exposure I've had to Hudlin (read previews and flipped through his MK Spidey stuff at my local comic book store) he can't not be an improvement (oh, my grammar angel on my left shoulder is scolding me right now)!! It is hard to have high expectations from Hudlin, but maybe as this crossover event is being handled by "Other" writers as well (and two damn good ones, I would add), and I believe JMS sorta created the concept and outline for this event, Hudlin might not be able to ruin it too badly. I would be surprised if his input is going to be the best of the series for shore, but I am definitely not going to give up on the event based on his writing. Now if David and Straczynski drop the ball, that is different. Still can't see it, though.

I am totally back to Amazing, and it has everything to do with JMS. I don't normally buy trades, but I am collecting his run so far, and have picked up Book of Ezekiel, Sins Past and Skin Deep... and have been buying monthly since Sins Past. So I say try "The Other", try MK Spidey (post-Hudlin), but definitely get on board with Amazing Spider-Man. That's what Harold will be doin' anywho (for what it's worth). ;)

-- Oh yeah, and the Strange mimi JMS did was really kewl, too.

Umh. I'm not sure I understand.

This is a crossover, ASM, MKSM and FNSM will all have parts of the story. Part 2 will be in MKSM #19.

SORRY! My bad!!!!

The Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man issue #1 was what I meant!!!

On the cover it says 1 of 12... I was just wondering if it was a 12 issue maxi series or a new Spidey ongoing.

Ah, right. It's a new Spidey ongoing. Each three Spidey books will have four issues that are part of "The Other" x-over. FNSM will continue normally after the event is over.

After dropping AMZ and never picking up MK in the first place, I'm hoping that reading FNSM on its own will be worth it. Like watching every other episode of LOST or FARSCAPE.

yeah but his blood is already irradiated anyway, i think he probably thought just increasing it to a level that he could barely withstand would be enough to defeat Morlun, on top of the fact that any worry about long-term effects of the radiation were outweighed by impending defeat at the hands of Morlun.

Morlun is cool

I really don't like this "the other" story arc at all. I mean watching Peter battle a life threatening disease... it's pretty depressing. I'm going to drop all Spidey titles until it's over.

I miss the great Spidey characters of yesteryear... JJJ, Flash, Robbie... even the Black Cat ... where have they all gone?

BTW this Morlun guy sux, I wish he'd stayed dead.
