Don't you think it would be better if we could all just forget about Robin?

Couldn't we put it down Robins creation to: "It was a bad idea at the time, and its an even worse idea now."

And I'm not talking about the death of Robin, or killing Robin again, but that we just don't see anymore stories with Robin and eventually Robin will just fade away as the bad joke that he is.

Batman will always need a Robin

Art thou a Cave Troll or a Bridge Troll?

If we forgot about him, we'd all look really stupid walking around talking about "Batman and ...," all the time.

Listen, next to Batman and Superman, the most know comic character in all the world is ROBIN. He is a rich character with a rich history, and whomever is in the mantle, is not a bad character. So know Robin will not go away.

I don't understand this Batman should always be Batman and Robin(at least to me). This whole new dark loner Batman is just a fad that has lasted way to long.
I say get back to stories of Batman, Robin and friends like Gordon. I want to get back to when Bruce wayne was the real person, when Batman was not as nuts as the villians. I say lets get Robin back as a regular working part of Batman comics.

Can you explain your argument, or is it that you just don't like him?

Robin is a interesting character and he is pretty popular I would think. He's leader of the teen titans, has had his own series, and they even brought a robin back from the dead.

Robin is here to stay.

I've always thought of Robin as being there every now and then and mostly at the Titans'. Batman would call on Robin every now and then.

I'd much rather have Batman and Nightwing myself. Nightwing fits the darker mood Batman has always had. Costumes are pretty close, too.

Personally, I think Robin doesn't fit in the comic universe with Batman. Batman should only have Gordan, Alfred and maybe Batgirl at the cave giving info. The thought of someone else fighting along side Batman is just....weak.

Robin shouldn't go away, but I think that the costume needs a serious overhaul. I find it rediculous to believe that Wayne uses dark colours to stay unnoticed at night whilst Robin is dressed in bright red and yellow. I know comics are far from realistic but come on...

To be fair they significantly darkened his colors when Tim took on the new costume.

I see both sides of the arguement.

I think Robin can be a great character. When used correctly.

I don't believe he deserves his own title.

Weren't the colors to distract, take any attention away from Batman?

It's based on the acrobat costume that Dick and his family used in the circus before his parents were murdered.

I don't think it really goes beyond that.

Agreed...Robin is simply the iconic sidekick!

Robin has existed since 1940 and increased the popularity of Batman making him accessible to younger fans who thought he was too dark and scary. Robin helped define the Batman mythos. Without Robin, Batman might have just been a so-so early comics character. Does he still need Robin now? The question is does Robin need Batman. Robin, especially Tim, has become a very well defined character that can exist out of Batman's shadow. There will always be a Robin.

Yeah, I guess I would kinda agree with that.

Also, its hard enought trying to suspend your disbelief reading a Batman only story, but as soon as you include Robin, I'm always wondering why the villians don't start rolling around on the floor laughing as soon as Robin shows up in his pixie outfit.

Its a strategic advantage. Villains laughing at your costume are easier to beat up. ;)

Robin hasn't had a pixie outfit for 16 years.

Would have been a great idea for the Ultimate/All Star Version of Batman.

That's what bugs me too. If they got rid of "gosh-golly Batman", and the panties, can't they give him a decent costume color-wise, as well? Besides Tim was never an acrobat, so why does he have to wear the same costume? It's like he's a goddamn parrot.

While I don't think Robin fits in with the darker Batman, I like Tim and would want him to stick around. Maybe he should just leave Gotham, go with the Titans full time and lose the Batman connection...

Yeah, let's make Batman even darker.

Robin needs to be around just to keep batman from being an unbareable prick. I think the lack of teawork between them has actually hurt the books.

Yes, why can't Batman and Robin sit down once in a while and have a nice cup of tea together?

BM: "so Robin, are you wearing silk or satin today?"
RB: "you know I never kiss and tell Butman."

Yes, let's make him even darker. Guy's a headcase, for God's sake. I wouldn't expect him going out on Saturday night with his friends. I wanna read about a headcase, not some regular guy who gets a girlfriend and watches wrestling matches when he gets home, after work.

I like the balance that Tim and Bruce have. Tim was a kid who wanted to do good for the sake of it, and was always on the up about life. Bruce was the opposite. He feels it was forced upon him. The contrast between these 2 is great, just a shame they don't show it much in the comics anymore. However, I still think that Robin needs a colour change on his costume. Seriously, bright red and green is a bit too much of a contrast to Batman. At least make it slightly believable guys...
