Which writers should Marvel lure away from DC and put on an X-book? Feel free to list which book you would want your writer(s) to work on. Sorry, no Geoff Johns on the list because it's my poll and I prefer not to acknowledge his existence.

None of them. I really dont want any of those guys on an X-book. They arent very experienced in the X-verse.

In other words, they aren't Claremont, so you don't want them on the X-Men. Gotcha! ;)

Anyway, I voted for Gail Simone. She's fresh and funny, and I think she'd be a riot on the adjectiveless title, which is currently dull and unimaginative.

All the more reason to get them on an X-book as soon as possible.

Diggle could write a black ops sorta x-book, it would be pretty fun.

Gail Simone. She may not know the X-men's history well but I think she is a great enough writer to be smart enough and look up their history before writing them. If she does this then I think she would have a very good run.

Gail Simone. She's a brilliant writer who can make almost anything work.

I'd also like to see Judd Winnick return to Marvel. His stint was too short and narrow at Marvel. And I liked him on the Real World, lol. :)

I voted for Devin Grayson. She's touchy-feely. And smart.

I would have voted for Rucka if he'd been on the list. There's a guy who knows how to write a large cast and big, sweeping, multi-arc storylines with CONSISTENCY!

Geoff Johns!! :D Sorry Cay, I couldn't resist!!

I voted for Gail!! Has there ever been a female writer on an X-title? I can't think of one right off hand. In which case, I think it would be a fine idea to get a female perspective on the X-Men.

I did not know Devin Grayson was a female! What does she write? And how is she touchy-feely? or is this one of those things I don't want to know...

Female indeed. I have no idea what she writes these days. I read a few Titans single-issue stories of hers. Touchy-feely, in that it was very character-driven (as if that's a BAD thing...!). She really takes time to explore her players. Feels much like catching up with old friends. Sure, you've spoken with them, but it's been a long time since you've really SPOKEN with them.

That's what I'm missing with a lot of X-titles these days. I miss my friends, even though I see them every month.

More info at DevinGrayson.com. The pics on the welcome page remind me of what a convincing love story she paints for Dick & Babs.

Devin Grayson is current writer of Nightwing.

I would like to see Greg Rucka write an X-book. After reading The Omac Project, the guy can handle writing a title with a large assortment of characters. Plus, I would like to see his take on the X-Men.

Devin Grayson....only to get her the hell away from Nightwing. They could create a new X-book just for her. Maybe make it all rejects from the current books that go around whining and lamenting about how miserable their lives are. Maybe a few action sequences with them getting hit in the head with lamps...and VIOLA!!! Another stinker.

In other words, they aren't Claremont, so you don't want them on the X-Men. Gotcha! ;)I think you have me all wrong. There are a few other writers I would like writing the X-books right now. Some of them are probably never going to do it, but this is just what I wish would happen. They would include, besides Claremont, Fabian Nicieza, Louise Simonson, Larry Hama, Ann Nocenti, Frank Tieri, Tony Bedard, Peter David, and I know I am forgetting somebody. Claremont cant possibly write all of the X-books at the same time, and I dont want him to either.

I just cant stand how we are getting 20 different writers who all want to take the books in different directions. it messes things up. So stop putting words in my mouth :evilangry

All people who have written X-men and X-related books before. How are you ever going to get new blood on the X-men that way.

I wouldnt mind seeing what Gail Simone could do.

and im not getting this whole "they dont know the X-verse" argument, just because a person has never WRITTEN the xmen doesnt mean they dont know the history, stop bieng so narrow minded guys

Only teasing, but seriously, everybody has to start somewhere. Each one of those writers you listed started as "inexperienced" with the X-Men. They were all new blood at one point, even Claremont, and he turned out to be the greatest thing that ever happened to the X-Men. I'd certainly like a repeat of that situation, but it takes stepping off the ledge and giving the new blood a chance.

Kind of a limited list. Are these all people YOU prefer? I would have voted for Gail Simone anyway, but since you could have done multiple choices, I also would have voted for Geoff Johns.

Justin Gray/Jimmy Palmiotti would be perfect for Wolverine.

Diggle would write an amazing action-big explosions type X-book.

I left off Rucka because he's already written a big X-Book, with his uncelebrated run on Wolverine.

I left off Winnick because he's done Exiles already.

I left off Johns because he did Morlocks, plus I think he really, really sucks.

Thing is, I want Diggle at Marvel, but on Iron Man. Preferably with recent exclusive and former partner on Adam Strange Pasual Ferry. He'd probably be the most suited for an X-book too, and as Strange showed, he has depth beyond just The Losers. Hell, read his Swamp Thing, he did something completly different with it.

It's just that Diggle and Ferry on Iron Man, after what they did on Strange, would be the best book to put the two of them on.

Although, while I don't know if he's done enough stuff to truly be considered a DC writer, Christos Gage could probably write a mean Wolverine. Maybe more too, but I'm only going off of what he showed in his Deadshot mini.

I guess that new writers need to come to the X-books, in order for people to Claremont to "pass on the torch" to. What I feel is that new writers do not have a greater understanding of the X-books than the people who actually created them. You just made me realize that the writers can all become good at writing the X-Men, but the key is being guided well by the editors, in which now I have less than no faith in. Otherwise, the X-universe will fall apart with the destruction of continuity and cohesivity.

Diggle and Ferry would be a pretty cool Iron Man team. I could also see them doing Thor.

Gail Simone is my favorite writer in the business, period, and I would love to see her write an X-book someday. However, she seems happy with her DC exclusive right now, and I really, really don't want her to leave Birds of Prey. But poor Rogue -- my favorite Marvel character -- desperately needs a fantastic writer like Gail to pull her out of the slump she's been in for the past, oh, 15 years or so.

Ah! I did not know that. I shall look for it. :)She wrote X-Factor with her husband Walt Simonson, and wrote New Mutants by herself (she replaced Chris Claremont). She also wrote Fallen Angels (8 issue LS), Havok and Wolverine: Meltdown (4 issue LS), X-Terminators (4 issue LS), and others.

She rocked.

No offence, but it doesn't matter what you think when creating a poll. You're not asking which of your favorite writers would you like to see on an X-Book, you're asking us. There should have been some sort of 'other' catigory, so your bias didn't get in the way.

Not really, it's my poll.

If you want a poll with Johns on it, feel free to create your own. It's not like Marvel's gonna read this and put any of these writers on an X-book.

Marc Andreyko is my pick. Black Sun was a fun mini series and his work on Torso Rocked socks. Such a great mystery. very intense and fun. He'd be spectacular on a book about the darker side of the X-folks.

Gail Simone? Give me a break. I don`t see any Marvel writer that could not do what she`s doing.
